Dear Friends

We have scheduled our annual Oasis Empowerment Center fundraiser for August 3-4-5. This year we
have established our theme as Dare to Dream. We recently rented a ministry center near the government
center on the Island of Guam and have begun extensive renovations to support our rather unique
missional strategies. From the church we call Zion Fellowship, we operate a recovery counseling center
for women overcoming life-controlling and life-limiting problems. Oasis provides a wide array of
supportive services and recovery counseling to help women find healing and wholeness. To address
poverty we are starting a micro-enterprise incubator called the Dream Center specifically to support the
women in their ongoing journey of recovery as we work to create jobs. Alongside this, Imagination Island
will be a place to nurture children through creative play.

We want to invite you come and help us here by contributing your artistic talent and join us in
communicating our vision through dance and music at this special Dare to Dream event. Specifically we
want to say that Jesus makes all things new. Chains of bondage are broken, the trauma of abuse is healed,
and hearts are restored and dreams are reborn and become manifest in a brand new life.

We don’t have a budget to support the costs of traveling to Guam so we are asking each one to ask
friends, and their church family, to support their journey to Guam in August. Guam is about 4 hours
flying time East of the Philippines. Guam is home to a population of nearly 150,000 Pacific Islanders, a
majority of whom are struggling in poverty, plus about 19,000 military and contract workers. While
Guam is a US Territory, it has limited status and representation in the US Government, and sadly has the
highest rates of teen-age pregnancy, and a staggering 3 times as many rapes as anywhere else in the USA.
25% of the population here is officially disabled, nearly 43,000 are unemployed.

The ministry we do here is changing lives and impacting this island in significant ways. We believe that
the Dare to Dream fundraiser will not only raise much needed funds for our capital improvements, but
will also raise community awareness of the vital work we do here and highlight some of the significant
milestones achieved by the women in recovery whom have found refuge and hope at Oasis. Lives are
truly being changed as we journey together.

Ashley Zimmerman is coordinating the production and talent for this event. We have set up an on-line
giving portal to facilitate international donations and to accommodate those who need a tax-deductible
receipt. http://www.justgive.org/nonprofits/donate.jsp?ein=66-0613185&designation=DareToDream
We look forward to meeting you and thank you so much for your valuable partnership in this ministry.

On earth as it is in Heaven,

Rev. Robert J Zimmerman
