This document provides the installation and checkout (INCO) procedures for installing the TMA Remote Display at an Air
Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) facility. It is based on Generic INCO procedures developed for TMA, and will be modified
in accordance with the TMA requirements identified in the TMA Site Survey Report. Site specific installation requirements
are identified during the site survey and the preparation of a site specific document will be completed.

1. INTRODUCTION
This document describes the equipment and procedures needed to complete the hardware installation requirements for the
Traffic Management Advisor (TMA) System.

Contained within this section are the purpose and scope of the document; a system overview including diagrams; site
preparation requirements, and a list of reference documents.

1.1    Purpose
The purpose of this Installation and Checkout (INCO) document is to define the site preparation and installation and checkout
procedures performed at for the installation of the Remote TMA System.

1.2    Scope
This document provides the site preparation and installation procedures for installation of the Remote TMA equipment and
the basic system checkout and set-up to start the Remote TMA software. It includes drawings of the TMA equipment at each
location within the TMA; the electrical components, power circuits, communications cables, and rack necessary to complete
the TMA installation. It includes a complete functional block diagram showing the TMA site hardware configurations,
figures and text identifying how the hardware rack is configured, drawings and tables containing the point-to-point cable
connections, and test procedures and success criteria to verify that the system is correctly installed at the site.

1.3    System Overview
This section contains information about the external hardware interfaces required for TMA; equipment lists; a functional
diagram; site preparation requirements; and reference documentation.

 1.3.1 External Hardware Interfaces
Within this document, external hardware interfaces are defined as equipment that is necessary for communicating outside of
the TMA environment or the remote TMA sites.

1.3.1.1 Automated Radar Terminal System (ARTS)
The TMA connection to the ARTS3E located at a TRACON is via a connection to the TMA Remote Router (2611xm) that is
connected to FTI.

1.3.1.2 Weather Support
The weather data is received via File Transfer Protocol (FTP) from the National Weather Service (NWS) over the Internet
from WJHTC. The weather data is then transferred to the ARTCC TMA via the FTI hardware and communications network
for security.

1.3.1.3 Diagnostics/ Remote Maintenance Support
Remote diagnostic/maintenance support may be conducted via the FTI for remote troubleshooting and maintenance.
Technical personnel are able to logon to the remote displays from the ARTCC TMA and from WJHTC over the FTI
communications lines.

 1.3.2 System Diagram and Equipment Layout
Figure 1-1 is the functional block diagram showing the TMA site hardware configurations. Figure 2-3 shows the equipment
rack layout for TMA at a Tower installation. Section 2 contains figures showing unit back panels and Tower rack power
layout.

2 INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
This section describes the equipment components, site preparation requirements, equipment installation procedures, and
reference drawings of the rack and equipment for completing the install of the Remote TMA equipment at the ATCT tower.

2.1   Equipment List
Table 2-1 lists the hardware equipment installed to support the Remote TMA configuration.

2.2   Equipment Description
Figure 2-1 shows the TMA components as deployed at the Tower. The Tower is a remote TMA site that receives an ARTCC
TMA data via the FTI.

   2.3    Site Preparations
   Site preparations are those actions completed by Engineering Services prior to the installation of the Remote TMA
   connections at the Tower. It includes testing of any locally (site) made cables; setup of the equipment rack; and power
   connections to critical or essential/building service power in accordance with the TMA requirements. Locally (site) made
   Ethernet cables connect the TMA equipment at the ATCT. The Site Survey Report will identify the site preparation
   requirements as of the site survey, and they are adjusted in these procedures as required from the installation. The site
   preparation actions include:

   1.  Identifying on the facility drawings the locations for the Remote TMA equipment. The TMA equipment locations and
       space requirements are identified in the Site Survey Report.
   2. Installation of new critical power circuits (if available) and power outlets, and essential/ building service circuits (if
       required) and power outlets at the ATCT. Reference Table 2-2 for the required power circuits and power outlet
       requirements.
   3. Procurement and installation of a new equipment rack, consoles, and furniture or shelves for Remote TMA equipment.
   4. Installation of Ethernet cabling for the Remote TMA equipment and interfaces at ATCT. The following cables are built
       on site and installed for ATCT:
                 a. cable from FTI to the TMA rack
                 b. cable from SGL1.xxx local extender to remote extender in Tower Cab
   See the Site Survey report for specific cable requirements.

   Note: All TMA power connections are to local “Critical Power” unless otherwise noted in the table.

    2.3.1 Cable Construction and Checkout Procedures
   The TMA site survey report for ATCT describes cable requirements. CAT-5E cables are used for Ethernet connections less
   than 328 feet. All CAT-5E cables that are built and installed at the site should be tested with a cable tester for CAT-5E
   configuration. The CAT-5E twisted pair cables use the pin-out configurations shown in Tables 2-3 and 2-4. This standard is
   followed for all cables in accordance with (TIA/EIA-568A-1).

   Note: All Ethernet cables used in the TMA system are straight through, unless otherwise stated.
   Note: All cables at the site that egress or ingress a floor or ceiling must be plenum rated.

Note: The cable connecting the FTI to operation router is a crossover cable configuration. This is necessary so that the
equipment will pick up transmit and receive signals correctly. This means that on one end only, the color code will be the
same as above. The other end will be as follows:

The Ethernet cables used for inter-rack connections are listed in Table 2-5.

 2.3.2 Preparation of Equipment Rack
This section provides the procedures for assembly, placement and setup of the TMA equipment rack. The requirements for
the TMA equipment rack are specified in the Site Survey Report.

CAUTION: The shipping weight of a rack is 225 pounds.

The outside dimensions of the rack are: 22 1/8 inches wide, 37 7/8 inches in depth, and 83.5 inches in height with wheels are
shown in Error! Reference source not found.Error! Reference source not found.2.

Note: The floor tile below the TMA rack should have a hole cut for the power and Ethernet cables to enter the TMA rack.
The hole should be located to the rear of the rack, i.e. the end with the louvered door, and be 12 inches wide and 6 inches
deep as a minimum size.

Note: There should be a cable management guide and one power strip included with the rack. Verify that these items are
available before rack installation is started.

The equipment rack layout is shown in Figure 2-3 for the Remote TMA.

2.3.2.1 Equipment Rack Assembly and Placement
1.   Remove the rack from the packing crate. The rack comes assembled.
2.   Remove front and rear doors.
3.   Clean the rails of the rack using a solvent. Reference FAA Standard 019, Section 3.14.13.4 for approved solvent.
4.   Position middle vertical rail 26 inches from front rail (face to face).
5.   Do not remove the front and rear metal cross braces until they are in the way of installing other components.

     Note: If casters on rack are to be removed before the rack is permanently located do so at this time. The rack will have to
     be rested on a side panel. Then the casters can be removed from the rack by removing the four locking nuts located on
     each caster assembly. Once all four caster assemblies have been removed, then the rack can be raised into a vertical
     position and permanently located.

6.   When the assembly is complete, place rack in designated location. Ensure that the floor tile with cable access hole is to
     the rear of the rack, i.e. (the rear or back is the side with flat louvered door).

7.    Seismic tie-downs approved for use at this site are used to secure the rack.
8.    Then attach a number four (4) green wire with bright orange tracer from ground connection in rack to the Multi-point
      ground plate under raised floor.

2.3.2.2 Setup of Equipment Rack
1.    Position the middle/adjustable or rear vertical rails so that they are 26 inches from front rail (face to face).
2.    Install cable management guides just forward of the power strips at the rear of the rack.
3.    Install shelf (P/N UNTWR-R-19-H, SharkRack Unitower), as shown in Figure 2-3. The SGL1 W/S is installed on this
      shelf.
4.    When the rack shelf has been installed, attach the power strip to the rails in the back of the rack.


2.4     TMA Equipment Installation

 2.4.1 Equipment Rack Installation
Installation of the TMA equipment is completed after site preparation as follows:

1.    Remove the equipment from the shipping packaging.
2.    Install the TMA equipment in the rack as shown in Figure 2-3.
3.    The remote router and other hardware in the equipment rack must be connected to critical power. Plug TMA equipment
      as shown in Figure 2-4.
4.    The Ethernet CAT-5E cable plugging sequence is shown in Table 2-5. Reference Figure 2-5 for the 2611xm router,
      Figure 2-6 for the Sun Blade 1500, and Figure 2-7 for the V240 equipment back panel layouts.

Note: Prior to installation the TMA equipment is labeled to reflect the unit identification as shown in Figure 2-3.

 2.4.2 Desktop Video Monitors and Desktop Workstations
The following general assembly instructions are used for the installation/setup of the equipment that is placed outside the
rack in consoles or on tables and shelves at the ATCT.

          SGL1GUI (Tower Cab)

Reference the local facility diagrams and Figures 1-1 and 2-1 for locations of the equipment that is listed above. These
diagrams and figures are used to complete the following steps:

1.    Unpack the units from their shipping containers first.
2.    The SGLl GUI Video monitor, keyboard and mouse will be remotely located from the W/S using a KVM Extender.

Reference the equipment back panel layout in Figure 2-6 for the Sun Blade 1500, when connecting cables to the CAT-5E
Ethernet cable connector (TPE connector), video monitor connector, keyboard/mouse (USB) connector, and power
connector.

3.    Using the manufacturer’s supplied installation instructions make the following connections at the W/S: the Video
      connection from the Local KVM Extender unit directly into W/S; the keyboard/mouse connection (USB) cable from the
      Local KVM Extender unit directly into W/S. Connect the power cord from the Local KVM Extender unit to the same
      power source as the W/S.
4.    Connect Ethernet cable to back of Local KVM Extender unit. At the Remote KVM Extender connect the Ethernet cable
      to this unit.
5.    At the Remote KVM Extender connect the monitor, keyboard/mouse to this unit. The power connection should be
      connected to critical power if available or the same power source as the monitor.

2.5     Documentation and Other Materials
All documentation associated with the TMA hardware is packed in separate boxes and delivered to the site.

2.6     Waste and Trash Disposal
Cardboard boxes, packing materials, and shipping pallets from the TMA equipment are disposed of per local site
requirements.

3 TESTING PROCEDURES
The majority of the testing is performed at the ARTCC. This section describes basic hardware testing at remote sites (ATCT)
and the types of tests that comprise the Site System Checkout performed at the ARTCC. Additional tests may be conducted
at the discretion of the Contractor installation engineer as circumstances dictate.

3.1        Installation Checkout
The following installation tests will be conducted at the ATCT:

   1.      Power on tests
   2.      Local TMA area network test

 3.1.1 Power on W/Ss and Monitors
      1.    Sequentially power on all units
      2.    Verify all W/S and Monitors are powered on
      3.    Verify all green power lights are on.
      4.    Verify each workstation boots correctly. Workstations without Motif (Backup/Recovery) have a login prompt.
      5.    Workstations with Motif (GUI) have a solid color background with a small x somewhere on the screen.

Note: The background color can be Midnight Blue, Black, Gray or a few other colors.

 3.1.2 Local Area Network Test
Conduct a ping test to verify connectivity to all devices with an internet address.

3.2        Site System Checkout
Site System Checkout will be performed at the ARTCC to check out the hardware at the ATCT and verify operation of the
software functionality. Contractor test personnel provide the checkout procedures for the ARTCC Site System Checkout to
Program Office test observers prior to the start of the checkout.
