INTRODUCING CHILDREN TO THE MAIL
            SYSTEM


• Organized visits of pre-school and school
  children to post offices, introducing children
  to the mail system, letter mail services,
  postage stamps, post marking, and other
  philatelic products, drawing and writing
  greeting cards, picture post cards and
  similar.
• Visits organized on continuous bases, if
  possible on special religious, cultural school
  anniversaries on the entire territory of
  Croatia, on the eve of or on a World Post
  Day and anniversary of the Croatian Post.
INTRODUCING CHILDREN TO THE MAIL

• Co-operation with the Croatian Philatelic Association
  and philately societies and clubs all over Croatia with
  the goal of popularizing philately among youth
  (organization and support to postage stamp activities
  for children, awarding young
  phylatelists,organisation of thematic lectures and
  introduction to philately of children and youth in the
  premises of philatelic societies, kindergartens,
  elementary schools)
ORGANISING EXHIBITIONS, EDUCATIONAL
LECTURES FOCUSED ON POSTAGE STAMPS AND
PHILATELY

   Organization of thematic
    exhibitions, educational
    lectures, commemorative
    introduction of artistic, scope of
    popularization of philately and
    mail services in venues typical
    for gathering of children and
    youth (kindergartens,
    elementary and secondary
    schools, libraries, community
    centers.)

   Co-operation with local
    communities in carrying out
    humanitarian projects for
    children and youth ( «The Most
    Beautiful Letter to Santa
    Clause»,» “Assisting partially
    sighted children”)
   Participating on local fairs and
    festivals organized for the
    occasion («In the World of
    Fairytales of Ivana Brlić
    Mažuranić» Slavonski
    Brod,”International Children’s
    Festival” in Šibenik)
    PUBLISHING, COMPETITIONS

•   organizing competitions (“A Great Adventure of a Letter”,
    «A Window to Philately»)
•    co-operation with UNICEF (organized sale of
    commemorative goods and products at the post office
    counters, organizing special events and sale of
    commemorative benefit stamps dedicated to children and
    children’s needs)
•    organizing Letter Writing Competitions as a part of the
    UPU international project, in co-operation with the
    Croatian Agency for Education and elementary schools in
    Croatia
•    co-operation with children’s magazines («National
    Geographic Junior», « Radost») through the competition of
    letter writing, postage stamps and popularization of
    philately.
•   issuing commemorative postage stamps with children’s and
    youth’s motives («Croatian Fairy World» ; «Europe –
    Integration in the Eyes of Youth”)
•   publishing of a manual “Children’s Book of Questions and
    Answers on Mail”
CROATIAN PARTICULARITIES

   Little School of Philately

   in Trakošćan, a castle in the Varaždin county,
    municipality Bednja, Young Philatelists Club
    „Trakošćan“,Croatian Philately Association,
    Castle Trakošćan Museum, Varaždin Club of
    Philatelists and Croatian Post Inc. in the fall
    organized educational activities –a workshop-
    Little School of Philately.

* Workshop is organized as a regular annual
  meeting of youth from the territory of Croatia and
  bordering countries with the scope of
  popularization of philately among children,
  augmenting the interest in postage stamps through
  collection of stamps with different motives.
 Children are divided in groups and assigned tasks
  with special focus on selected fields and themes,
  under supervision of mentors.

   Interesting lectures by professionals, members of
    philately clubs, and Croatian designers, authors of
    some graphic designs on issued Croatian postage
    stamps and representatives of publishing houses –
    where Croatian postage stamps are printed.

CROATIAN PARTICULARITIES - II

   “Create a Magical Stamp and Win a
    Wonderful Price”

   Competition of artistic creations for
    commemorative postage stamp “New Year”
   Organized by the Croatian Post in collaboration
    with the Ministry of Science and Sports, Croatian
    Agency for Education, sponsors and media
“Create a Magical Stamp and Win a
Wonderful Price”


   Competition is organized in elementary schools,
    posters and booklets are published for that
    occasion with competition regulations and
    interesting information on postage stamps and
    process of creating postage stamps.
   Elementary schools are invited to send to the
    Croatian Post 10 most beautiful works created by
    their pupils, and author of the most beautiful
    work shall be awarded a special price.

Results so far of the competition
   Winners of the competition benefit from their prices
    (travel to Lapland, monetary price)
   Organization of the exhibition of children’s drawings –
    participants of the competition, in the headquarters of the
    Croatian Post in Zagreb and on the website www.posta.hr
   Media covering of entire event and significant enhance of
    demand of postage stamps with a children’s theme
   Enhanced interest of schools and children and youth for
    participating in future in similar activities
   Organizing lectures, discussions in schools and libraries
    with the theme of philately and stamp collecting
