STUDENT GRANTS

Part-Time Student Grants

Fee Grants and Course Grants

If you are studying on a part-time course and your household income is below
£27,506, you may be able to get:

    A Fee Grant to help with the cost of your tuition fees

    A Course Grant to help with other study costs, such as books, materials and
     travel

The maximum combined Fee Grant and Course Grant is £1,495 for 2012/13

Before you apply, it is worth checking that you are eligible for the Fee Grant and
Course Grant.

Tuition Fee Loans

From September 2012, part-time students starting their first degree who study for 25
per cent of their time will be able to apply for a tuition fee loan. See 'Student Loans'
for details of what is available.

STUDENT LOANS

Students on higher education courses may be able to get loans to help with study
costs. Student loans are available to help you with both tuition fees and living costs.
Find out what is available for full and part-time students.

Part-Time Student Loans

If you are a part-time student in 2011/12 you may be able to apply for:

    A Professional Career Development Loan

Professional and Career Development Loans

A Professional and Career Development Loan could help with your course fees and
living costs. It is a bank loan you pay back when you finish your studies. The
amount you can borrow for your whole course is between £300 and £10,000

    Professional and Career Development Loans

Part-time students can also apply for a Fee Grant and Course Grant if their
household income is below £27,506. See 'Student Grants' for details.

Repaying Student Loans

You pay your Tuition Fee Loan or Maintenance Loan back when you leave your
course and earn:

Over £15,000 a year if you start your course before September 2012
Over £21,000 a year if you start your course in September 2012 or later (subject to
approval by parliament)

Interest on Student Loans

Student loans accrue interest from the date they are paid out, up until they are repaid
in full. Generally, the interest rate for student loans is set in September each year.

How to Apply

Part-time students can apply for loans, grants and bursaries by:

         Downloading the part-time application form from 'Forms and Guides'
         Completing the paper application form
         Getting your university or college to stamp and sign your form when you start
          your course
         Sending your application to Student Finance England along with any evidence
          required

available from August 2012.
