Insurance Fraud and
Vehicle Theft are
Serious Crimes
Report Your Suspicions to the
National Insurance Crime Bureau
You’re Being Ripped
Off Right Now
You may not realize it, but each and every one of us
is being ripped off – 24 hours a day, 365 days a
year.
Even if we haven’t suffered a direct loss, we’re all
victims of insurance fraud and vehicle theft. That’s
because people who commit these crimes cause us
to pay higher insurance premiums.
These crimes add up to billions of dollars in
fraudulent insurance claims annually. The National
Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) and the nation’s
property/casualty insurers are enlisting your help to
stop costly fraud and theft crimes.
Speak Up By
Phone, Text or
Internet
You can help put criminals where they belong.
If you suspect insurance fraud or vehicle theft crimes,
don’t be silent. Speak up, and contact the NICB.
The NICB offers three ways you can report your
suspicions.
1. Send a text message with the keyword “FRAUD”
to TIP411 (847411) on your cell phone or mobile
device. Messages can be responded to in real
time, creating an instant two-way live “chat” with
NICB personnel.
2. Call the NICB’s toll-free telephone hotline,
1.800.TEL.NICB (1.800.835.6422), which is
staffed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to
10 p.m. CST.
3. Visit the NICB’s Web site, www.nicb.org, then
click on the “Speak Up” button on the home
page. You will be directed to a form that you can
complete and submit online in just minutes.
Whether you call the hotline, send a text message to
TIP411 or report your suspicions online, experts review
every tip. You can make your report anonymously.
