                                       Job Description

Position: Banquet Manager


Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Conference Center Manager

Duties and Responsibilities: The Banquet Manager is responsible for the daily
operations of the front of house staff in the conference center. He/she serves as the
primary contact for the group on events as assigned. Directly supervises the Conference
Center Supervisors, Servers, and Bartenders.

Essential Skills Needed:

       Ability to enforce hotel standards, policies, and procedures.
       Ability to work varied work hours, understanding that early mornings, late
        evenings, and weekends are required.
       Ability to communicate well with managers and staff.
       Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments; delegate work.
       Ability to have a high attention to details.
       Ability to direct performance of staff and follow up with corrections where
        needed.
       Ability to motivate staff and maintain a cohesive team.
       Ability to be a clear thinker, analyze and resolve problems using good judgment.
       Ability to remain calm and courteous with demanding/difficult guests and/or
        situations.
       Ability to perform job functions to standards under pressure.
       Ability to work without direct supervision.
       Ability to work cohesively with other departments and coworkers as part of a
        team.

Position Specific Essential Job Functions:

       Face to face greeting with on-site clients to ensure guest satisfaction.
       Review BEO in detail with client and note any set-up/timing/other changes.
       Discuss guest counts and special requests with chef/kitchen staff prior to the start
        of the event.
       Be on the floor, supervising service at all times. It is a must to be hands-on and
        assisting on the floor.
       Maintains Responsible Alcohol Services, including training of all front of house
        staff. Ensures compliance with liquor laws and monitors alcohol service at each
        event.
       Oversees the cleaning and storage of all equipment and storage areas. This
        includes AV, pop and beer coolers, table and chairs, linen, etc.
       Ensure that conference center standards are exceeded on service and set-up shifts.
       Manage departmental budget and expenses, with a primary focus on labor
        controls.
      Responsible for the front of house schedule and maintenance of it.
      Diligent in preparation for events, including timelines/diagrams of sections/pre-
       meal meetings.
      Continue to be creative with event set-up and décor.
      Work with supervisors in accomplishing individual goals.
      Hire/train candidates for front of the house positions as openings arise.
      Complete hourly performance evaluations on time, always.
      Assist with special projects and reports as required by Conference Center
       Manager.
      Create a positive working environment and create incentive and recognition
       programs for associates.
      Creates and maintains a front of the house staff that puts guests first, is passionate
       about service, works without direct supervision, and always lives the mission.
      Exceed the expectations of our guests, our associates, and our owners.

      Handles all guest concerns/incidents in a prompt, professional manner.
      Maintains proper correspondence and resolution with dissatisfied guests.

      Provide feedback and ongoing training to staff.
      Work daily to increase performance of staff and provide ongoing training.
      Handle any employee concerns in a prompt, professional manner.
      Exceed the expectations of our guests, our associates, and our owners.
