Additional Information

Purpose of position The Associate Director will work with the University Development team to develop
strategies and execute programs to increase philanthropic giving to UT Arlington. Responsible for
successfully identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospects in assigned program areas.

Essential functions Create and implement fundraising programming for Student Affairs. Work with
Student Affairs VP to create programming to engage alumni and friends to identify, cultivate and solicit
gifts; identify funding opportunities and prospects. Make personal contact with a portfolio of individuals
as appropriate for building relationships and securing 1895 Society level gifts for Student Affairs. Serve
as liaison to the Major Gifts and Corporate and Foundation Relations offices for Student Affairs. Develop
online giving strategies to successfully solicit alumni, friends and parents. Create web content for
appeals and work with University Development staff to maintain updated information for prospective
donors. Personal visits and solicitation calls. Identify, cultivate and solicit a portfolio of gift prospects for
university priorities. Make personal contact, including in-person visits, with a portfolio of individuals at
the 1895 Society level as appropriate for building relationships and securing philanthropic gifts for
assigned university priorities. Design fundraising plan to solicit gifts from parents on an annual basis.
Coordinate giving clubs and develop strategies to retain and upgrade donors in annual giving. Work with
Director of University Development to actively find creative means to keep donors engaged in
philanthropic support of the University.

Marginal/Incidental functions Other functions as assigned.

Required qualifications Bachelor's degree. 2 to 3 years experience in development/fundraising or related

Preferred qualifications 2 to 3 years experience working in a university annual giving office. Ability to
develop positive working relationships with departmental colleagues, campus officials and external
constituencies. Effectiveness in building relationships with donors and prospects. Strong and creative
problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple projects while adhering to time deadlines to achieve
department objectives.

Working conditions May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a
workstation. Use of manual dexterity. Climbing of stairs. Lifting and moving.

May require occasional travel, evening and weekend hours. Use of a personal vehicle for work-related
local travel. Security sensitive job; criminal background check conducted.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the
position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
