 HEALTHCARE
Phlebotomy technician Certificate
Phlebotomy is a challenging career where you will work directly with patients and have the ability to conduct lab work. Phlebotomy is a highly
specialized area of clinical practice and a phlebotomist plays a vital part in collecting quality blood samples from patients and preparing those
samples for laboratory testing. Phlebotomists typically perform venipunctures, fingersticks, or heelsticks to obtain specimens and work with
laboratory personnel to manage, process, and transport specimens collected from patients. In some settings, phlebotomists may perform bedside
testing. By becoming a Phlebotomist, you will work in dynamic, fast paced environments such as hospitals, physician offices, clinics, nursing
homes, and labs to create a comfortable atmosphere for your patients. The Phlebotomy Technician Certificate includes theory and hands-on
instruction while also preparing you to take the NHA National Certification Exam. Exam fee is additional. Textbook is required at the first class
meeting and available at the KSU Center bookstore. Prerequisite: Submit a completed Healthcare Program Application. Working knowledge
of computers and access to computer and internet is required.

EKG technician Certificate
The Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician performs electrocardiograms and is one of the first people to assist patients experiencing cardiac
symptoms. EKG technicians are a critical member of the patient care team found in emergency rooms, hospital based cardiology clinics, and
private physician offices across the country. By becoming an EKG Technician you will perform diagnostic tests to capture the heart rhythm
and rate in patients. EKGs are also performed before and after operations, during physical examinations of patients over 40, for patients with
a history of heart disease, when patients are experiencing chest pains, and when the doctor deems it necessary. A well-trained EKG Technician
is an integral part of the management of patients with heart disease. The EKG Technician Certificate includes theory and hands-on instruction,
while also preparing you to take the NHA National Certification Exam. Exam fee is additional. Textbook is required at the first class meeting
