PRESENT TENSE SIMPLE VS PRESENT TENSE CONTINUOUS(OR PRESENT
PROGRESSIVE)
WE USE THE SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE FOR
A) A HABITUAL ACTION,A PERMANENT               ACTION
   Example : I come to class everyday
              She speaks French
              He always speaks with his windows open
              He smokes too much
B) For a general statement or a proverb
   Example : the earth moves around the sun
              Actions speak louder than words
              The St-Lawrence river separates Quebec from Lévis
              His family comes from Montreal


Present continuous or progressive


We use this tense when an action is going now


This tense if formed by using the present tense of « to be »+the « ing » form of the
verb(present participle)


Example : the sun is shining
           The bees are humming
           The birds are singing
           I am resting in a deck-chair
