                                          Classroom Console System
The equipment rack (located to the right of the teaching workstation) should be powered on. If not, press the
red MASTER power switch located at top right of the equipment rack to the ON position. The power switch
will light up in the ON position.

 Electric Table The height of the instructor’s table can be adjusted with the buttons just under the
tabletop on the left side. Press the Up Arrow to raise the table or the Down Arrow to lower the table.

 Data Projector & Screen The Extron switcher is located just below the master power on the
equipment rack. Press the ON button. The button will blink while the projector is warming up to full
brightness and the screen will lower. If raising the screen manually is necessary, use the SCREEN
UP/DOWN button on the Extron switcher (5th button from the left.)

 Volume Use the VOLUME dial on the Extron switcher to adjust volume for any device except the
       wireless microphone.

 Wireless Microphone A wireless microphone is available in the equipment rack drawer. Press the
power button on the beltpack and attach to belt or put in pocket. Attach lavalier microphone to lapel or
collar. Adjust the volume using the WIRELESS MICROPHONE dial on the TOA amplifier (at about
knee level on the equipment rack.)

 Dual Boot iMac The iMac will boot either Mac OS or Windows. To turn on the iMac reach with your
left hand behind the flat panel monitor at the lower left and press the button. Select either Mac OS or
Windows by clicking on your selection. If Mac OS is selected, choose Mac OSX User to log-in. No
password is needed. If Windows is selected, log in with your regular Novell log-in and password. Press
the LECTERN PC button on the Extron switcher in the equipment rack. The Mac or Windows image
will display on the desktop monitor and on the screen via the data projector. The Mac mouse has a left
click and a right click. Be careful of the position of your hand on the mouse…you may think you’re
left-clicking but if your finger is too close to the middle of the mouse, you may be right-clicking.
Rebooting the computer will allow you to switch from Mac OS to Windows or vice versa. At the end of
class please reboot so the next user has the OS selection window. IMPORTANT: Please do not
change the display resolution. It has been optimized for use with the data projector in this room.

 Laptop Connect a laptop to the classroom console system by connecting the VGA cable available in
the equipment rack drawer from the laptop to the VGA input on the Extron switcher (labeled LAPTOP).
If needed, connect an audio cable from the laptop to the audio port next to the VGA input. Press the
LAPTOP button on the Extron switcher. If the laptop does not display through the projector there may
be a display adjustment needed on the laptop – usually using the Fn key and one of the F keys in the top
row of the keyboard. This key command varies by laptop manufacturer.

 Document Camera Press the power button on the Elmo TT-02S document camera. (Green = Power
ON, Red = Power OFF.) Press the DOC CAM button on the Extron switcher. The document camera
will display on the screen via the data projector. If not check that the camera button is selected (rather
than the PC button) on the document camera.

                                                       1 3/30/2012

on the Extron switcher in the equipment rack. Use the Sony DVD/VCR remote control found in the
equipment rack drawer to operate the VCR. Be sure to eject the tape when finished. The VCR eject
button is on the right side of the DVD/VCR.

 DVD Press the tray eject button on the Sony DVD/VCR in the equipment rack. The tray eject button is
on the left side of the DVD/VCR. Place the DVD in the tray and press the tray eject button again to

    eject the DVD when finished.

 Closed Caption Press the CC ON/OFF button on the Extron switcher (under Projector) to turn on
closed captioning. Press the CC ON/OFF button again to turn off closed captioning.

 External Video Device Connect the RCA cables from a video device (VCR, video camera, etc.) to the
video and audio jacks labeled AUX VIDEO in the equipment rack (just below the Extron switcher).
Press the AUX VIDEO button on the Extron switcher. Operate the device manually.

 Picture Mute Press the PIC MUTE button on the Extron switcher to mute the display without turning
off the projector. Press the button for any device to unmute the display. Note that the audio is also
muted, and that a video will continue to play if it is not paused.

 Audio Only To play audio without any projected display, press the button on the Extron switcher
(under Input Selection) for the desired device without pressing the projector ON button. For example:
place an audio CD in the DVD tray and press the DVD/VCR button. The audio is heard and the
projector remains off allowing the instructor to write on the board, etc.

 Shutting Down Press the OFF button on the Extron switcher. Eject any tapes, CDs, DVDs, etc. that
may be in the DVD/VCR or the computer. Be sure to reboot the iMac so it is at the OS selection
window for the next user. Turn the DVD/VCR OFF. Raise the center screen.
