Your Youth Hostel Environmental Action Plan
The “Eco-map” leads the way to the creation of an Environmental Action Plan for the Youth
Hostel. The selection and definition of specific measures, the setting of priorities and the
nominating of responsible individuals are key elements of an effective Environmental Action
Plan.

 Adapt the “Fields of Action”
 follow the 10 steps for successful implementation and fill in your and your staff’s ideas and
set first priorities for (potential) action
 make the ideas concrete and determine your “Action plan”

Fields of action
The “50 steps for the environment” contain nine relevant fields of action at every Youth Hostel.
For new Youth Hostels or Youth Hostels with environmental programmes for school groups,
additional fields (“building construction” and/or “environmental education”) should be added to
the list.
