The Miss Southeast Texas Scholarship Pageant, an official local preliminary to the Miss Texas/Miss America Organization, will be on December 17, 2011, at Kingwood Park High School in Houston, Texas. The Miss Southeast Texas Pageant is excited to have Kendall Morris - Miss Texas 2011 at the pageant. Local pageants, such as Miss Southeast Texas, are divided into two categories: the Miss category and the Teen category. To compete in the Miss category, the young lady must be between the ages of 17 and a senior in high school and 24. For the Teen category, she must be between the ages of 13 and 17 and a junior in high school. Further, to compete in the Miss category, a young woman must: (1) have been a Texas resident for at least 6 months preceding the date the pageant, (2) have completed one semester as a full time student with a minimum of 12 credit hours at a College or University in the state of Texas if not a Texas resident (Miss) or (3) have been employed full-time (at least 40 hours per week) in the state of Texas for at least 6 months preceding the date of said pageant (Miss). Each Miss contestant competes in five different categories: private interview (25%), talent (35%), lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit (15%), evening wear (20%), and on-stage questions (5%). In the Teen competition, each contestant will also be competing in 4 categories: interview (35%), lifestyle and fitness in aerobic wear (10%), talent (35%), and evening wear and on-stage questioning (20%). The categories and their percentages are subject to change due to new regulations from Miss Texas/Miss America Organization. The highest and the lowest score in each of the categories are dropped. The young lady with the highest accumulated score at the end of the competition will be declared the new titleholder. Miss contestants compete in the Miss Southeast Texas Pageant for free (No entry fee). They are required, however, to provide a $100.00 deposit (personal check, money order, or cashier check). Please understand that the $100.00 deposit is a way to secure your opportunity for competing. The deposit will be cashed ONLY if you no-show the competition. (In that case, there will be a $25.00 service charge for any returned checks.) If any contestant is unable to attend the competition, the deposit will be returned based upon the following circumstances: (a) the contestant obtains a Miss America local title prior to the Miss Southeast Texas Pageant or (b) the contestant has a death in the family. The $100.00 deposit will also be returned to all contestants who actually participate in the Miss Southeast Texas Scholarship Pageant. Miss contestants are required, per Miss Texas Organization ruling, to make an on-line donation of $100.00 to the Children’s Miracle Network; this non-refundable donation is tax-deductible. Additional information about this donation will be provided in later packages. Teen contestants pay only a $100.00 non-refundable entry fee. No Personal checks will be accepted for the Teen competition. Send only Money Orders or Cashier Checks. If you are interested in receiving additional information about this year's Miss Southeast Texas Scholarship Pageant, please complete and return the form below, as well as send in the $100 deposit (Miss contestants) or the $100 entry fee (Teen contestants).
