beyondblue provides an information and referral telephone based service to support
consumer and carers with issues related to depression, anxiety and related
substance misuse disorders.

We offer a supportive team environment and continuing professional development in
return for relevant tertiary qualified counsellors who are able to demonstrate a
capacity and expertise in providing supportive telephone support and crisis
intervention for our client base. Candidates must have an understanding and be
sensitive to issues related to depression, anxiety and other related mental health
issues and crisis intervention support to callers at risk of suicide.

These positions offer permanent part time employment with constant days and
hours, training will be given across all services to enable you to work as an integral
part of our counselling team.

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria

   Demonstrated awareness and understanding of depression, anxiety and related
    illnesses from a consumer perspective
   An understanding of the impact of depression, anxiety and related illnesses on
    carers, family and friends.
   Demonstrated ability to undertake needs assessment with callers, and manage
    calls within limited timeframes, depending on the needs of the callers involved.
   Understanding of team relationships and demonstrated ability to connect with
    and work collaboratively with others in a team environment
   Demonstrated knowledge and competency in crisis intervention and the provision
    of information to assist the callers for the service.
   Commitment to professional development, continuous learning and openness to
    feedback and coaching within a “real-time” assessment framework. Ability to set
    achievable goals and evaluate performance with openness to ongoing appraisal.
   An honours/post graduate degree year in Psychology, eligibility for registration as
    social workers a mental health elective as part of the course of study; or
    registration as a mental health nurse.
