JOB TITLE: Housing Assistant –Caretaker/Warden
DEPARTMENT: Housing Support Team
RESPONSIBLE TO: Housing Line Manager/CEO

GRADE: G

JOB PURPOSE:
To supervise a small team and deliver appropriate support
services under term of the YMCA which
enable all young people living in YMCA accommodation to receive
relevant advice and guidance which engages them in meaningful
activities which will equip them for their future.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. In conjunction with the Housing Line Manager ensure that relevant
support is given to all residents.
2. In conjunction with other team members, to ensure that a programme
of activities is provided which promotes community development
amongst the residents of the YMCA accommodation.
3. To work closely with an identified caseload of residents requiring High
Support to enable them to seek resolutions to their issues.
4. To ensure that the Support Work Team members each have a
manageable case load and, through case load supervision meetings, to
ensure that the appropriate support is being given.
5. To meet with the Housing Line Manager on a regular basis to
provide reports and information on the Housing Support Officer
caseloads.
6. As a member of the Housing Support team, to contribute fully to the
work of the team and to assist and enthuse other team members as
appropriate.
7. To participate in local and national training events and meetings in
order to ensure that current practices are being adopted and followed.
8. To ensure that appropriate records are kept of all exchanges with
residents and that the relevant paperwork associated to the Support
service is adequately maintained, accessible and complies to contract
requirements.
9. To bring to the attention of the Hosuing Line Manager any concerns
regarding the performance of project, service and / or staff and to
provide regular and timely reports as required.
10. To continuously improve the profile and image of the YMCA within
the local community through involvement in strategic and operational
partnerships.


11. To undertake any other duties in line with the role and
commensurate to the post, assist in the development of YMCA policies
and procedures as deemed appropriate by the Chief Executive.
12. To develop an awareness of the various aspects of the YMCA
movement and to be able to apply this knowledge in the day-to-day
work of the Housing Support Team and in all external relations.

SCOPE AND LIMITS OF AUTHORITY:
Responsible for the day to day, plus volunteers
Case work allocation
Programme development
Monitoring and report writing
Liaison with Corporate Services Team on issues relating to maintenance
and repair of housing stock.
Preparation and management of Budget (Up to £150K)
Ensuring the fulfillment of appropriate statutory returns.
