					     2 Corinthians 10:3-5
• 2 Cor 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do
  not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our
  warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the
  pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down
  imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself
  against the knowledge of God, and bringing into
  captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
• When we come in contact with the Word of God we
  can submit to His will or we can try to justify ours
• Two Areas of Thought: Imagination and Memory
              Imagination
•   Yesterday’s science fiction is today’s science
•   Contemplate future: fantasize, plan, worry
•   Vacation, Ballgame, Politics, Entertainment
•   Rom. 12:1-2 transformed by renewed mind
    – Change what is valuable
    – Change what is repugnant
    – Outraged at sin, but heartbroken for the sinner
            Imagination
• Self inflicted wounds: imagine an outcome
  and then face disappointment with reality
• Power of the mind for evil or good
• Micah 2:1 “devise iniquity”
• Gen. 6:5 “every imagination…evil continually”
• 1 Pet. 1:13-16 preparing for battle (Job 40:6-7)
• Phil. 4:8 “think on these things”
              Memory
• Forgiveness or hold a grudge?
• Many are prisoners of the past (forever
  rehearsing in their minds what was before)
• Some saturate their minds with violence and
  sex through TV and internet (and they
  wonder why they struggle with desires)
• Psalm 63:5-6
                Memory
• Prov 4:14 Enter not into the path of the wicked,
  and go not in the way of evil men. 15 Avoid it,
  pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
  16 For they sleep not, except they have done
  mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless
  they cause some to fall.
• Psalm 1:1-2 meditate on the Word of God
• 2 Pet. 3:1-2 “stir up pure minds” “mindful”

  voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
