WHAT MAKES INTERACTIVE
WHTEBOARDS USEFUL IN A
CLASSROOM SETTING?
• Can be linked to a video camera and DVD
player. Therefore enabling all students in
the class to have equal learning
opportunities.
• It enables the lesson to become more
interactive and engaging as the teacher is
able to make the lesson more visually
appealing
• Interactive whiteboards allow teachers
who are unfamiliar with technology to
display information with ease.
• It allows students to broaden their learning
experience through e-learning
WHAT ARE INTERACTIVE
WHITBOARDS?
• The interactive whiteboard is a device or a
large display panel which uses a projector
and a PC to project information from the
computer onto the whiteboard screen. It
allows you to move from program to
program via touch screen with your finger
or specialised pen. This allows the lesson
to become more interactive and easily
accessible by all students.
WHAT IMPLICATIONS DO
INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARDS
HAVE ON STUDENTS LEARNING?
NEGATIVE IMPLICATIONS
• The projector light may cause impaired
vision if constantly stared at for extended
periods of time. As a result this also
impairs students learning abilities.
• The surface of the whiteboard may
become damaged therefore it makes it
hard to see. Therefore disrupting the flow
and the structure of the lesson.
POSITIVE IMPLICATIONS
• The interactive whiteboard allows and
promotes for group discussion and team
work
• It allows students to broaden their learning
experience through e-learning
• It enables the lesson to become more
interactive and engaging as the teacher is
able to make the lesson more visually
appealing. Also allows for a collaborative
approach to learning.
