Course Description
This instructor–led training course introduces the student to the HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array (MSA) 2012fc and 2012i. This course focuses on implementing and managing an MSA SAN solution. The student gains an understanding of the features, benefits, and components of each of the systems and learns the main considerations for installing, configuring, and troubleshooting the systems. The student also learns to use the various tools and utilities available for configuring and managing the array systems. Hands-on laboratories are included to correlate with the classroom materials.

Course Description
Designing and Implementing HP SAN Solutions provides the student with an in-depth knowledge of Storage Area Network (SAN) design. Heterogeneous Open SAN architecture, advanced Fibre Channel Switched Fabric topologies, SAN management, SAN Backup, and SAN Performance are discussed in detail. Course topics are reinforced through class discussion, and hands-on lab exercises including designing and implementing a SAN solution.

Students Performance Objectives
Describe the features of the EVA solution. Identify and describe the features and functions of the HSV controllers and the disk drive enclosures. Identify and describe the characteristics of EVA models and describe initial setup procedures. Use Command View EVA to set up, configure and manage the EVA. Define the basic terminology and concepts associated with the EVA and storage virtualization. Describe and perform storage system configuration activities with Command View EVA. Describe the configuration steps to prepare a host and storage system to complete a solution. Describe how to set up and use the Storage System Scripting Utility. Perform basic troubleshooting.
Course Content
This 3-day course is designed to provide training for the HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) family. The material describes EVA hardware; how the EVA storage system implements virtualization technology, including its use of Virtual Controller Software (VCS), and provides instructions on how to set up, configure, and manage the EVA using the HP OpenView Storage Management Appliance (SMA) and HP StorageWorks Command View EVA software.
