An icon of modernism, the Barcelona chair's
design was inspired by the campaign and
folding chairs of ancient times. Created by
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for the German
Pavilion at the 1929 Barcelona Exposition,
the Barcelona chair features the pure
compositional structure that now
epitomizes Modern architecture and is a
chic requirement of the designer interiors.

The astounding frame of a Barcelona
Chair is crafted from stainless steel with
thick leather straps supporting the seat
pad and chair back. The padding used is
visco-elastic memory foam, which is fire
resistant to comply with all UK, Europe
and USA safety laws. This model is of the
highest quality and would make a great
addition to any modern home.

Icon of modernism, the Barcelona chair
has been in production for almost 80 years
since, with very few changes
distinguishing it from the first version. It
is first designed by famous furniture
designer Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.

Originally designed before the advent
of stainless steel and seamless ground
welding, the frame was designed to be
bolted together. However, in 1950, with
the development of stainless steel, van
der Rohe re-designed the chair with a
seamless metal frame.

In the highest quality deliverables the
smallest detail counts. While comparing
qualities take note for example that the
highest quality reproductions will not have
the front side panel corners of the chair will
not be split with a seam in the leather either
sewn together or a strip of piping joining
the two.
