        Legend of the Zodiac
One day, 12 animals got into a fight about who
would be the head of the cycle of years. The gods
were asked to decide and so they held a contest.
Each animal would cross the river from bank to
bank and whoever got there first would be the
head and second would be second and so on. The
rat had jumped on the ox’s back and they got there
first, but then the rat jumped off and won the race.
The pig was very lazy and came in last. That is
why each cycle begins with the rat and ends with
the pig.
