Joe Carvin Letter To Westchester & Rockland GOP Leaders by CelesteKatz

March 21, 2012 Re: Request for Your Support

Dear Republican Leaders,

I am writing to ask for your support.

I am planning to run for the U.S. House of Representatives this year against
Congresswoman Nita Lowey whose district has been substantially changed in
redistricting. I believe I can defeat Mrs. Lowey in this new district with your backing,
and I am willing to invest a substantial amount of my personal resources to do so. I have
already retained a top-notch campaign team and I am raring to go with your support.

I'm running for Congress because I'm a financial expert with worldwide business
experience. I understand the depths of this nation's challenges and I'm willing to tell the
voters the truth about what it will take to get this country back on course -- to grow jobs
and reduce our dangerously unsustainable debt load. The problems we are facing on the
national level directly impact our local communities and families and they must be dealt
with honestly and firmly.

I am a businessman who entered politics just a few years ago. I currently serve as
Supervisor of the Town of Rye, where I have reduced expenditures by 25%, cut taxes
every year I have been in office, and led the charge to dissolve town government. I
refuse to take the $17,000 salary I am entitled to until I am able to eliminate town
taxes entirely. I was re-elected with 62% of the vote in a district that is overwhelmingly

I work as an asset manager and hold degrees from Tulane University (B.A.), New York
University (M.B.A.), and Harvard University (M.P.A.). I have lived and worked on five
continents and I speak five languages fluently, including Spanish and Portuguese -- in a
district with a great number of voters speaking those languages. I am married and I have
three wonderful children. (As a side note, I am also the brother of the attorney who will
be arguing to defeat Obamacare before the U.S. Supreme Court this year.)

If I am given the Republican nomination, I will proudly espouse our party's ideals in
every corner of this Rockland-Westchester district, and in every language I can speak.
I am enormously grateful for the kind and encouraging comments I have received from
those of you I have met with, and I look forward to meeting with each and every one of
you as soon as possible.

Your early support is critical to my success in this race. No one knows this ground
better than you do. I am available to you day and night with any questions or
suggestions you may have. I can be reached on my mobile phone at xxx-xxx-xxxx. I very
much look forward to speaking with you.

Joe Carvin

P.S. Nita Lowey’s district is now winnable. Please help me get out of the gate strongly!
