In the upcoming debate about Israel and the Palestine State, East
Jerusalem must remain part of Israel for the protection of the
important religious sites. An ancestor of my, Fulk V, The Younger of
Anjou, King of Jerusalem (1131 to 1143) is buried in the Church of the
Holy Sepulchre, in East Jerusalem.

Subject: A brief (but comprehensive) History of the Israeli-Arab conflict
Given the Palestinian Authority's current mischief in the UN I am posting
this video (HT:Hot Air) for those interested in this bit of foreign policy.
Bill Whittle of PJTV fame narrates this short and clear history demonstrating
the old adage that the "Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an
opportunity". However, this video makes clear that what is important to the
Arabs is not statehood but something else entirely. Whittle also points out
that Obama's intentions towards this issue are, at best, uhhh...unclear. I
would submit that when it comes to foreign policy President Obama simply has
no clue. The video is only about 11 minutes long but is well worth watching
for those so interested in the drama about to unfold at Turtle Bay. [1]

The World’s 5 Richest Terrorist Groups

There are annual lists published of the richest individuals, corporations, and CEOs. I thought it would be useful to list
the five richest terrorist groups. This list excludes nation states that materially support these orgainzations such as
Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria, Pakistan and others. Much of the money flowing into these organizations are from small
donors in mosques across the world. These donations are called zakat.

As of August 2011, in terms of their annual operating budgets, the Taliban, Hezbollah, the FARC, Hamas, and al-
Shabaab may be the wealthiest terrorist organizations in the world today. Al Qaeda trails, but if all its affiliated
organizations are included, Al Qaeda remains in the upper echelon of the world’s terror budgets.

1. Taliban

Taliban nets between $70 and $400 million from drug activity (of which at least $15 to $25 million is collected as ushr,
Islam’s 10 percent tax on harvests) annually. In addition, the Taliban collects an estimated $150 to $200 million per
year in zakat and sadaqa donations, mostly from the Arab nations of the Persian Gulf. These figures exclude
extensive Taliban revenues from ransoms, extortion, and improperly diverted money from Western aid, U.N.
contributions, defense contractors, and the Afghanistan government itself. My own estimate would place that subtotal
of an additional $50 million per year.

Splitting the difference for the estimated range of revenues, that would bring the Taliban’s total budget to an estimate
of approximately $560 million annually.

2. Hezbollah

Rachel Ehrenfeld’s Funding Evil documented that Hezbollah’s annual operating budget is between $200 and $500
million. Iran provides at least $120 million of that, with the rest coming from khums, drug trafficking, and other
criminal activity.


Columbia’s Marxist guerrillas, the FARC, enjoy annual revenues that range from estimates of $80 to $350 million.


For 2010, Gaza’s budget adopted by Hamas was $540 million, but that’s a larger amount than Hamas’s own budget.
The Council on Foreign Relations lists Hamas’s budget as $70 million. However, the recent news that Iran is cutting or
ending its aid to Hamas which would substantially diminish Hamas’s treasury. Hamas receives significant funding
through charitable front groups and from Saudi Arabia.

5. Al Shabaab

A recent report from the U.N. revealed that al-Shabaab’s revenues are between $70 and $100 million per year,
propelling it into the top tier of global jihadist funding.


Al Qaeda

The CIA estimated that before 9/11, al Qaeda’s annual budget was $30 million, which was almost exclusively from
“donations” (zakat and sadaqa). By almost all accounts, al Qaeda’s financial situation has deteriorated since then.
Other estimates place their budget from $16 to$50 million, which still puts al Qaeda itself toward the bottom of the list.
However, there are indications that revenue collections of al Qaeda offshoots such as Al Qaeda in the Arabian
Peninsula(AQAP), Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), and al-Shabaab are flush with funds. With AQIM in
particular, the evidence shows that funds are being transferred from the regional organization back to the parent al
Qaeda organization itself.


Reuters calls Lashkar-e-Taiba (whose revenues include hawala, the Gulf, and Pakistan’s ISI) “one of the largest and
best-funded Islamic militant organizations” in South Asia.

It bears repeating that much of the revenue listed above, with the exception of the FARC’s drug money,
originate from traditional Islamic revenue sources such as zakat, sadaqa, khums, and ushr, rather than from
“secular,” criminal activity.

Yet Another Reason to Withdraw from and Defund
the United Nations

On Friday, September 20th Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will present the Palestinian bid for statehood
recognition directly to the U.N. Security Council after making a speech to the General Assembly. The Palestinians are
also setting the stage for a confrontation with the U.S by going directly to the U.N. Security Council. This fruitless
move is despite the promise of a U.S. veto. Abbas said U.N. recognition of a state on territory seized by Israel in the
1967 Six-Day War will allow the Palestinians to negotiate with Israel as equals. Abbas maintains that the PLO is the
chief organization representing the Palestinian people.

Notably absent from the discussion is the terror group Hamas who are unfortunately the elected government of Gaza.
Hamas has made its position regarding the Statehood bid very clear. Hamas Spokesman, Barhoum stated "that the
Palestinian president's plan to demand full membership in the UN is "part of his own personal plans having to do
with the fate of the Palestine people." The Hamas spokesperson added that Abbas is acting without consulting the
Palestinian people and their political factions. Barhoum stated that Hamas will not support any plan which recognizes
Israel or goes against the Palestinian people's rights, especially their right of return and self-determination. He also
added that Abbas' speech goes against the reconciliation agreement between Hamas and Fatah. It seems the
Palestinians are not all singing from the same sheet of music. That's typical.

The other point that no one speaks of is that Abbas most likely has to leave Hamas out of the discussion. Hamas is a
recognized terrorist group by the United Nations and most member States. Now.. if we leave Hamas out then the PLO
is just fine according to the UN. How do you leave out half the government and form a State? Hmmmm...

The international fallout from Abbas' move in the UN will be significant especially for the United States and for Israel.
Saudi Arabia has stated the US will lose our special friend status or some ridiculous thing like that. China and Russia
are supporting the bid as are a number of European Union nations. The weak kneed foreign policy of the Obama
Administration has opened the door for all of this. The United States is positioned nicely for a big fat black eye at the
Security Council Meeting. Arab Nations in particular are seizing the opportunity to bring Islamic governments to
power in the Middle East. Egypt and Libya are 2 examples with Syria to follow soon. The United Nations is firmly
behind the transitional governments in place and funding them directly. Now the Palestinians are making their run
for the gold medal.

In the case of Libya the UN has released over $1B in frozen assets to the newly formed Transitional Council. As we
discussed in a previous forum the National Transitional Council Leadership is comprised of former LIFG members.
The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) LIFG was founded in 1995 by Libyans who had fought against Soviet
forces in Afghanistan. It aims to establish an Islamic state in Libya and views the current regime (Gaddafi) as
oppressive, corrupt and anti-Muslim, according to the Canadian Security Intelligence Service. Shortly after the 9-11
attacks, LIFG was banned worldwide (as an affiliate of al-Qaeda) by the UN 1267 Committee. So Abbas' fears about
the UN rejecting the bid for statehood because of Hamas may be unfounded. The UN didn't seem to have a problem
with the leadership in Libya that the UN itself banned as a terror organization.

Israel, our one remaining ally in the region, is surrounded and under attack from every direction. Israel's position
regarding the statehood bid is clear. The bid will nullify the Oslo Accords. That is an important point that everyone
needs to bear in mind over the next couple of weeks. It will open the door for Israel to legally annex Judea and
Samaria. I will have more on that topic for you in the days ahead. The United Nations is without doubt the most anti-
Semitic organization since Nazi Germany.

For our trouble we're picking up the tab for the international community for 22% of the annual operating budget at
the UN which totals $516 million in 2011. We are also laying out 27 percent of the UN's peacekeeping budget, totaling
a stunning $2.7 billion. But there is more.

There are the "voluntary" contributions. In addition to the $5.2 billion budget, the U.N. will also spend about $9.4
billion in “extra-budgetary” or voluntary spending. What programs are included in "voluntary" spending where the
United States is the biggest voluntary contributor? Probably the best example is the U.N. High Commissioner for
Refugees, which grew its budget by about 90 percent between 2008 and 2010, to $3.3 billion. The U.S. share in 2010
was $712 million. The United States voluntary contribution to the UNHCR was bigger than the next eight
contributors combined.

As a footnote to the numbers above..All other member nations contribute 1% or less to the expenses of the United
Nations. Notable missing Nations from the top ten list include: Saudi Arabia at .8%, Kuwait at .26%, Venezuela at
.31% all wealthy oil rich nations.

All the above clearly illustrates the need for the United States to withdraw from the United Nations and cease all
funding for this corrupt and broken organization. The State Department will tell you that the UN is an important
vehicle for international relations. Really? It is painfully clear that this is a lopsided self induced trauma that we
continue to inflict on ourselves. We are funding the people that want to take this nation down. We are paying for the
organizational structure in which to do that. When will we finally WAKE UP to the fact that most of the world seeks
the fall of the United States? Is it already too late?

I urgently ask everyone to contact your Congressional Representatives regarding this issue. If you believe we are
pouring our money down a rat hole then speak up! Congress needs to hear from all of us. This is a lightning rod issue
going in to 2012. Make sure you are heard at the highest levels of government.

The brewing Republican-Tea Party civil war

Since the Tea Party began, there has been an on going debate within the Tea Party about the Republican Party and
what the Tea Party’s relationship with the GOP should be. Pressures are now building and if the Parties are not
careful, they could blow into a full-fledged rupture between the GOP and the Tea Party.

What are these pressures?
It is more of the ongoing war that the GOP has kept under wraps for the last 30 years. This is the war of the
Establishment or Country Club GOP versus the grassroots, which is now the Tea Party.

The GOP establishment has always been disdainful of the grassroots. The GOP establishment comes in every two
years, talking about how conservative they are, expecting the grassroots to do the heavy lifting in the campaign, and
as soon as the election is over, they ignore the conservatives and go about doing what they really want to do, which
is to act like Democrats.

The Establishment GOP is very similar to liberals. They do not like competition. Tea Party candidates defeated a
number of establishment candidates for congress in 2010 and we are already seeing the payback as in some GOP
states, freshman Tea Party Congressmen are being redistricted out of their seats. In Texas, home of Rick Perry, this
tactic has been used against a number of Tea Party Freshmen.

You would think the GOP would be a little more grateful. After all, under the leadership of the Establishment, the GOP
was wiped out so badly in 2006 and 2008, Washington Republicans had to be put on the Endangered Species Act.

In New Hampshire, another fight is brewing that could lead to a major Tea Party-Republican rupture in one of the
early primary states.

In January, Jack Kimball, a Tea Party activist who got started in politics with the Tea Party movement, upset an
establishment candidate to become the Chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party.

Since Kimball was elected, the establishment has not liked it and is now fighting back. On September 1, there will be
a meeting of the New Hampshire Republican Party Executive Committee and Kimball will be removed from office.
This is pretty definite, since 22 members of the committee sent him a letter asking him to resign or be removed. Since
the Committee has 36 members and only a majority are required to remove the Chairman the outcome is really not in

The fight over Kimball has been over fundraising, losses in a special election and a mistake he made.

Kimball’s critics claim his fundraising has been a disaster. Kimball counters saying the first two quarters have been
among the best ever for the Party.

In July, the GOP establishment saw a stunning defeat in a special election by a candidate who many suspected was
a Democrat running as a Republican. Then, Kimball may have signed his own political death warrant when he signed
a petition to have the Libertarian Party on the ballot in New Hampshire. Kimball claims it was a mistake and he
thought he was signing only for a Libertarian candidate. Either way, that is a colossal mistake. Kimball has since
withdrawn his name from that petition.

Unfortunately, by pushing Kimball out, the GOP may be making a colossal mistake. Kimball is only seven months into
his term as Chairman. He has clearly made some mistakes, but perfection is not the standard we hold people to. The
left likes to hold conservatives to that standard. Neither Conservatives nor Republicans should play that game.

This story gets more interesting as according to Politico, the Republican Governors Association offered $100,000 to
the New Hampshire Republican Party and Moderates such as US Senator Kelly Ayotte, Representatives Charlie
Bass and Frank Guinta have offered even more to help out the state party. The only catch? They want Kimball to

As one blogger put it, they would hold the grass roots hostage and be willing to lose races, just to hold the purse
strings and power. In the process, they will force a Tea Party activist out as the New Hampshire Republican Party

The New Hampshire GOP needs to take a good hard look at this situation. For all of his faults, Kimball could be the
one person out there who can bring in the Tea Party people and keep them in the party.

Either the New Hampshire fight is because Kimball is not doing a good job or it is about an internecine fight between
the establishment and the Tea Party. If it is the former, he is new on the job. One solution is to delay any vote on his
ouster and perhaps get a more experienced GOP state chairman to mentor him. If it is just about politics, then the
vote can go forward on 9/1 and everyone will know what is really going on.
As has been repeated countless times here on Tea Party Nation, the consensus opinion within the Tea Party
movement is that we do not want the Tea Party to become a third party. We do not want the Tea Party to split the
Republican Party.

However, there is great distrust of the establishment Republicans among the Tea Party. A recently closed poll on Tea
Party Nation showed that 45% of Tea Party members would not vote for Mitt Romney if he were to become the
nominee. There is a huge divide here and the GOP needs to reach out and try to do something about it before it
becomes any worse.

The establishment GOP is famous for reaching across the aisle to work with Democrats. Here is a suggestion for the
Establishment. Before you reach across the aisle to work with the party of treason, why don’t you try reaching within
the aisle to work with the Tea Party?

                                                                                                            my intention to rehash
                                                                                                            that same material for
                                                                                                            the loss of State
                                                                                                            Rights—though much
of it is relevant. But we need to know more of the story, and we need to know more details of some of the parts I have mentioned
in passing. What we have not covered yet, but very much need to, is just how systematic and premeditated that original takeover
was. We are not dealing with patriots and patriotism here; we are dealing with the roots, causes, and progress of tyranny.

It is helpful to remember at this point that while great societies often appear to crumble overnight, very often the seeds of their
destruction were actually planted long before. For example, when the Israelites demanded a “king like other nations” (1 Sam.
8:5), God said definitively that they had rejected Him (1 Sam. 8:7–8). This began the era of the kings in Israel. And yet this God-
rejecting society which was “serving other gods” did not collapse immediately. Rather, it gradually decayed over centuries to the
point that even its most famous reformer-King, Josiah, could not totally spare it from judgment. This era of the kings ended when
the people were defeated and carried away captive into Babylon. But from beginning to end this decline and fall took about 434
years (1020BC to 586 BC). In other words, the incipient cause of a social decline can be present immediately, but its effects may
take centuries to manifest fully.
Thus while it may be illuminating to speak of the various periods of centralization in America’s history—whether it be the
Wilson War State, the Civil War, etc.—it is not necessarily the most effective approach. It may even be detrimental. For example,
the Civil War debate can entirely consume you with an endless variety of side-issues—slavery not the least of them. And yet the
issue of slavery—as important and interesting as it is—is not the core issue behind tyranny and centralization in American
history. Yet it will consume the entire debate, and then breed several side debates of its own. This is unfruitful. It is better to lay
the axe to the root of the tree than hack away at a thousand branches which always seem to find a way to grow back anyway.
While it may require some digging, sweat and dirt, we simply must get to that root.

We cannot solve the problem if we are continually trying to fix the wrong problem. We cannot plan a proper solution to the
problem if we are misstating the problem, or stating only part of it. For example, we feel free to condemn Wilson or FDR,
Johnson or Obama, Socialism or the Fed, and yet we remain timid or even defiantly opposed to criticizing even parts of the
Constitution itself. But if the Constitution was the first great act of centralization in this land—the act which enabled and
empowered all subsequent centralization in this country (exactly as predicted by its opponents)—then it will do little good to
clear away the subsequent acts alone. If the root remains viable, the brambles will grow back. “Return to the Constitution”
sounds nice, but what good does it do to return ourselves atop the same slippery slope we’ve already gone down?

So in regard to this project, I am not so much interested in debating the evils pro and con of the Civil War (Northern Aggression,
Southern Rebellion, or any of its other hundred partisan epithets), Reconstruction, or the Progressive Era (either in its Republican
or Democrat permutations), or anything else. I want to focus on the root of the problem. For that reason, I will take this section to
continue the story of centralization during the first generation after the Constitutional settlement, adding upon what I’ve already
written under County Rights. I wish to hammer home just how systematically and drastically power was grabbed and centralized
during that time, preparing the way for the wars, debts, and tyrannies that would come later. Since I have already told some of the
story of the ratification debate, and the series of John Marshall’s Supreme Court decisions which gradually centralized power
over every area that the Anti-federalists predicted, I now want to cover a different angle of the same takeover. This will,
hopefully, further drive home how the nationalist takeover was premeditated and purposeful, and how it was the turning point for
the country (though the nature of the change would take decades fully to manifest).

One of the prominent Anti-federalist writers, “The Federal Farmer” (possibly Richard Henry Lee), pointed out both the extreme
degree of the change in government and the premeditated nature of it. Very early in the ratification debate, he wrote,

The plan of government now proposed [the Constitution] is evidently calculated totally to change, in time, our condition as a
people. Instead of being thirteen republics, under a federal head, it is clearly designed to make us one consolidated government. .
. . This consolidation of the states has been the object of several men in this country for sometime past.[1]

We need, therefore, to examine the goals and efforts of the most prominent of these early central planners. While there were, of
course, many that deserve attention, we will only have space here to deal with some of the most famous—Madison, Hamilton,
and Washington. Among these, we will mainly concentrate on Hamilton’s agenda.

As I said, we have already discussed Marshall a bit. Despite the enormity of his contribution, he was only the judicial wing of the
real energy behind the Federalists. Writing on the centennial of Marshall’s death, the leftist Max Lerner noted the direction of the
judge’s agenda: “[M]uch of Marshall’s career may be viewed as a process of reading Hamilton’s state papers into the

There is no doubt that there was no influence toward centralization of power more efficient, effective, energetic and evil all at the
same time than Alexander Hamilton. Often praised today by conservatives for the tradition of “strong Hamiltonian
Federalism”—derived from his central role in writing the Federalist Papers defending the Constitution—his system was anything
but truly federal. He was the liberal progressive of his day in nearly every political sense considerable (except possibly the idea of
social welfare which was not really invented yet, not in the modern sense).

Long before the Convention, Hamilton displayed a dangerous taste for top-down, coercive means of obtaining his goals. As a
young soldier these instincts served him well, producing examples of bravery and leadership during the Revolution. But during
the so-called Newburgh Conspiracy of 1783, when the restless Revolutionary Army refused to disband without its long-overdue
pay, Hamilton suggested Washington take charge of the army and use the threat of force to persuade Congress not only to pay up,
but to pass legislation to install his dream of a more centralized financial system. Washington, as much a statist but less foolhardy
than his former aide-de-camp, read Hamilton’s letter “with pain . . . astonishment and horror.” He explained,

The idea of redress by force, is too chimerical to have had a place in the imagination of any serious Mind in this Army; but there
is no telling what unhappy disturbances might result from distress, and distrust of justice. . . . [T]he Army . . . is a dangerous
instrument to play with.[3]

Hamilton’s dangerous disposition developed very early. As a bastard child who was orphaned at about 12 years of age when his
mother died of fever, he was fortunate to find meaningful employment as a merchant’s apprentice. A prodigious self-taught child,
his intellect and energy drove him quickly to a position of responsibility: he was keeping the books and running the warehouse at
12 while his masters were out at sea. Despite his early accomplishments and promise, Hamilton was bored. He confronted his
boredom with dreams of fame and glory. In a letter to a friend, he revealed how he disdained a life of common business: “I
contemn the grov’ling and condition of a Clerk or the like, to which my Fortune &c. condemns me.” He said he would willingly
risk his life to exalt his “Station.” And Hamilton had studied the classics; he knew how to achieve advancement and fame. The
primary way—according to prominent Greek and Roman writers—was through warfare. Hamilton was ready to risk his life, he
said; and thus he wrote, “I shall Conclude saying I wish there was a war.”[4]

For a young man to be considering personal fame and advancement, and already having plans how best to achieve it, at age 12, is
to say the least extraordinary. But to be discontent with a promising business career and willing to die for fame is the definition of
a fool. To dismiss (really hate) the value of a steady wealth-producing life due to a lust for fame is indeed a biblical definition of

We must not ignore the powerful role that the lust for fame played in the lives of America’s framers. It was overwhelming; it was
all-consuming for them. An historian widely respected by colleagues from various perspectives and parties, Douglass Adair, first
alerted the American history profession to the importance of this concept. It reigned true for most of the famous founders,
including Hamilton. Hamilton recognized that “love of fame . . . is the ruling passion of the noblest minds.”[5] He would second
this motion later in his life in a letter to his uncle, suggesting that the “love of fame” was a common “spring of action” for
seeking public office.”[6] After reviewing how this love of fame infused the lives of Hamilton, Washington and others, Adair

The love of fame, and the belief that creating a viable republican state would win them fame, is part of the explanation of the
élan, the tremendous energy, the dedicated and brilliantly effective political maneuvers by which a small minority of American
leaders who were nationalists kidnapped the movement to reform the Articles, wrote what they conceived to be a more perfect
union, and then managed to get it ratified by the reluctant representatives of a apathetic populace.[7]

An American Caesar

In Hamilton’s case, the love of fame seems to have had some attachment to the icon of empire himself—Julius Caesar. Jefferson
had portraits of Bacon, Locke, and Newton in his parlor. He called these the three greatest men the world had ever produced. As
a guest in Jefferson’s house, Alexander Hamilton rebuffed him: “The greatest man that ever lived was Julius Caesar.”[8]
Jefferson would conclude of Hamilton that while “honest as a man,” he was nevertheless, “as a politician, believing in the
necessity of either force or corruption to govern men.”[9]

An interesting angle appears long before Hamilton’s visit to Jefferson. As champion of the Constitutional centralization,
Hamilton was the most vigorous nationalist to undertake its defense in print. But before he and Madison collaborated as
“Publius” on the Federalist Papers project, a curious pair of response letters appeared in a New York newspaper. Here’s the story:

The other two delegates from New York left the Convention early in disgust at what they perceived as a coup. They returned to
New York City and informed the strongly state’s rights (at the time) Governor George Clinton what was afoot. Merely ten days
after the close of the Convention, the proposed Constitution was published in the New York Journal for all to read. In that same
September 27, 1787 edition, an open letter to the citizens of New York bore a critique and solemn warning about the proposal.
The letter was signed with the pseudonym “Cato.” The author was (most assume) Governor George Clinton.

The name “Cato” was taken from Cato the Younger (d. 46 BC), the ancient Roman statesman known for his commitment to
freedom and honesty. After Caesar crossed the Rubicon and usurped power from the Senate, Cato committed suicide. He would
rather die than suffer the tyranny of Caesar’s military dictatorship. Governor Clinton now saw a group of similarly ambitious
would-be Caesars usurping power from the States. He warned the people:

Deliberate, therefore, on this new national government with coolness; analyze it with criticism; and reflect on it with candor: if
you find that the influence of a powerful few, or the exercise of a standing army, will always be directed and exerted for your
welfare alone, and not to the aggrandizement of themselves . . . adopt it—if it will not, reject it with indignation—better to be
where you are, for the present, than insecure forever afterwards. . . .[10]

Within a week, the letter received a response in the newspaper.And what pen-name would the ambitious defender choose to
oppose Cato? Unbelievably, it was “Caesar.” And just like the Caesar who crossed the Rubicon with military force, this young
would-be Caesar brandished the threat of military takeover should the people not submit to the proposed government willingly.
Referring to George Washington as “the American Fabius,” he urged Clinton to help the former general’s journey to the
presidency of a new nation:

I would also advise him to give his vote . . . to the American Fabius; it will be more healthy for this country, and this state, that he
should be induced to accept of the presidency of the new government, than that he should be solicited again to accept of the
command of an army.[11]
Scholars for some time considered Hamilton the author of the “Caesar” letters, though it has been severely questioned by some
today.[12] Whoever the author was, he (or she) was certainly of same Hamiltonian nationalizing spirit, even if more extreme, and
was very likely of personal association with, or at least known to, Hamilton. What this shows is that the nationalist clique of New
York in which Hamilton circulated himself at the time was willing to appeal immediately to military force in order to get their
agenda passed.

So here we have the same Hamilton who in 1783 urged Washington to leverage military power aligned with the same “end-
justifies-the-means” tactic once again. Clinton (although certainly no saint himself) denounced this idea to the people as a threat
that “in case you do not acquiesce, he should be solicited to command an army to impose it on you.” In his second letter as Cato,
he went on to remind them of the freedom they had just fought for:

Is not your indignation roused at this imperious style?—For what did you open the veins of your citizens and expend their
treasure?—For what did you throw off the yoke of Britain and call yourselves independent?—Was it from a disposition fond of
change, or to procure new masters?—if those were your motives, you have your reward before you—go,—retire into silent
obscurity, and kiss the rod that scourges you—bury the prospects you had in store, that you and your posterity would participate
in the blessings of freedom . . . let the rich and insolent alone be your rulers—perhaps you are designed by providence as an
emphatic evidence of the mutability of human affairs, to have the shew of happiness only, that your misery may seem the sharper,
and if so, you must submit. But, if you had nobler views, and you are not designed by heaven as an example—are you now to be
derided and insulted?—Is the power of thinking, on the only subject important to you, to be taken away? And if perchance you
should happen to dissent from Caesar, are you to have Caesar’s principles crammed down your throats with an army?—God
forbid! . . .[13]

case of Caesar versus Cato, and the Governor intended to make it clear to all people that a small group of tyrants intended to grab
power over them. He wrote:

The Convention too, when in session, shut their doors to the observations of the community, and their members were under an
obligation of secrecy—Nothing transpired. . . .

For the sole and express purpose [of revising the Articles of Confederation] a Convention of delegates is formed in
Philadelphia:—what have they done? Have they revised the confederation, and has Congress agreed to their report?—neither is
the fact.—This Convention have exceeded the authority given to them, and have transmitted to Congress a new political fabric,
essentially and fundamentally distinct from it, in which the different states do not retain separately their sovereignty and
independency, united by a confederated league—but one entire sovereignty—a consolidation of them into one government. . . .

[T]he Convention had taken on themselves a power which neither they nor the states had a right to delegate to them. . . . it
originated in an assumption of power . . . founded on usurpation. . . .

[A]nd yet you are unhesitatingly to acquiesce, and if you do not, the American Fabius, if we may believe Caesar, is to command
an army to impose it.[14]

Caesar’s final letter against Cato would reveal his animosity not only to freedom, but to religion: he wished to see America as a
glorious secular empire destined to steal power from and begin the decline of Christian nations:

When this glorious work is accomplished, what may America not hope to arrive at? I will venture to prophesy that the day on
which the Union under the new government shall be ratified by the American States, that that day will begin an era which will be
recorded and observed by future ages, as a day which the Americans had marked by their wisdom in circumscribing the power
and ascertaining the decline of the ancient nations in Christendom.[15]

Hamilton surely, quickly realized that ”Caesar” did not have the upper hand in this particular rhetorical battle. He was playing the
role of the tyrant, Caesar, against the just lover of freedom, Cato. He was threatening a military dictatorship, or at best a civil war,
and he openly opposed Christian civilization at this time. He seemed to play the part of a tyrant well. So Hamilton resolved to
change tactics: he presented himself as the champion of federalism and liberty, joining with Madison for the Federalist Papers.
These did become a success, and probably should be the subject of a later supplementary discussion.

A Christian Statesman?

The public deprecation of “the ancient nations in Christendom” struck directly (if unwittingly) at the true Christian heritage of
America. As we saw in the last chapter, the Christian feudal system (what was good of it), particularly the emphasis on contracts
and property ownership, formed the basis of the settlement of this land. It formed the basis, particularly, of the decentralized
nature of government in America. The nationalist swipe at that heritage—indeed the prophecy of its decline and fall—was an
admission of the unbounded tyranny latent in that party.
Hamilton’s relationship with religion is certainly of interest. Adair and Harvey have recognized four different periods of his life
in which his attitude toward religion was quite different: his youth, his fabulous rise to fame, his partisan activist period, and his
decline and fall.[16] Without explaining each part in depth, here are the main points. During his youth, Hamilton was eventually
taken in by a devout Presbyterian family. During these years he prayed regularly and attended worship services and religious
education, though he never joined a church. It seems that during these years he may have been simply going through motions, for
in the second period, his references to the faith disappear from his writings almost entirely.

It is the second and third periods which concern us most here, for this is when most of Hamilton’s permanent influence was
wielded. And it is here that his agenda and worldview are most explicit. As I mentioned, during this second period—which
covered his military exploits and advance to national stardom, 1777 to 1792—Hamilton appears religiously indifferent, even
mocking. He refers to religion only twice in these fifteen years, and both times in crude jest. In the first, he says that a certain
“Dr. Mendy” fit his mold for a perfect army chaplain except that the parson “does not whore or drink”—suggesting that he
expects hypocrisy among Christian ministers. Not ironically, the later editor of Hamilton’s writings, Henry Cabot Lodge,
scrubbed “whore or” from his edition of the letters (the only one available to the public). The lack of irony comes in the fact that
Lodge published in 1904 as a partisan of the old imperial Progressive Republicans—for whom Hamilton was a hero, but he had
to be sanitized for “Christian America.” In the second reference, Hamilton provided a friend with his qualifications for a good
wife. Among having “a good shape” and a large fortune, she must both “believe in God and hate a saint.” Aside from these
references, we have nothing from Hamilton’s own pen on religion during the period. There are a couple of other anecdotes from
others, but these, too, are unflattering.

Hamilton’s third stage is ushered in during the period of the French Revolution and the political battles with Jefferson. At this
point, Hamilton suddenly waxes religious again. Unfortunately, his main references during this period make it clear he was using
religious rhetoric only for political advantage. Indeed, he speaks explicitly of religion as an “engine” of politics, and explained
this at length in letter to William L. Smith (April 10, 1797):

A politician will consider this [religion] as an important means of influencing opinion, and will think it a valuable resource in a
contest with France to set the religious ideas of his countrymen in active competition with the atheistical tenets of their enemies.
This is an advantage which we shall be very unskilled if we do not use to the utmost.[17]

Just for the record, while Lodge printed part of the letter of Hamilton’s, he suppressed this part of it. Progressive Republican
“Christian American” endured.

With this plan in place, Hamilton mounted his attack against the Jeffersonians by presenting them as American admirers of the
French Revolution, engaged in “a conspiracy to establish atheism on the ruins of Christianity.”[18] Yet as we just noted, it was
Hamilton himself who sought to overthrow the ancient heritage of Christianity in society. So nothing of Hamilton in this period
speaks of a Christian worldview: only of hypocrisy and political leverage. Even the secular historians note, “this period in his life
hardly deserves to be praised as an era of Christian thought and practice.”[19] This is an understatement.

Hamilton does eventually appear to get true religion, but only after his dramatic fall from fame and popularity. In his final four
years of life there are numerous testimonies to his change of heart and perspective in his humbled state. He focuses on family,
nature, and gardening, and prays with his sons. He allegedly disagreed with dueling, and yet accepted the code of honor to which
he apparently felt bound. Nevertheless, he allegedly wrote that he would waste his shot and let Burr kill him. On his death bed he
pleaded for the sacrament and eventually received it when the parson accepted his faith as genuine. Thus it appears Hamilton
died a Christian.

But all of this came only after his great fall from public grace and influence, and little-too-late to affect his politics in a biblical
way. Adair and Harvey observe,

Hamilton, who in the years of his early success had almost forgotten God, who in the years of his greatest power had tried to
manipulate God just as he manipulated the public debt to increase that power, began sincerely seeking God in this time of failure
and suffering.[20]

is less referenced as the image of Hamilton’s faith. It was his period of manipulating God that factors most heavily in this image:

Ironically, it is his insistence during these years, in tirade after tirade, that “democracy” and “Christianity” were incompatible,
that Jefferson, “the atheist,” was God’s enemy, that has left a simple-minded American posterity with the false impression that
Hamilton throughout his life was a devout Christian in both thought and practice.[21]

Indeed, we have seen that this was not the case. During his most influential years, he was at his most irreligious. And during
these times he had perhaps the largest hand in America in pushing through massive assumptions of power, beginning with the
Constitution, and extending throughout many acts of legislation, taxation, military action against Americans, central banking,
judicial cases, and many other acts of tyranny. It is tempting to say that his years of tyranny and sacrilege were not ironically

Well, it is clear that this article is getting too long for one post. I will have to divide this section into two parts. In the next
installment, we will walk through those acts of tyranny Hamilton wrought, analyzing them one-by-one. We will also talk about
the first New Deal, and the power-hungry elites who brought it to pass.

     Are both parties scrapping Constitution?
     Maybe now Americans will stop asking me why Republicans never challenged Barack Obama's clear constitutional
     ineligibility for the presidency.
The answer is one of the following:

         They are too ignorant to understand that the definition of a "natural born citizen" is an American born to U.S.
          citizen parents; or

         They are willing accomplices in the dumbing down of a simple constitutional requirement for their own political
          reasons – so their own ineligible candidates can run.

I don't know any other choices that make sense today as the Republican Party establishment along with leading candidates
begin active consideration of vice-presidential nominees who are just simply ineligible to assume the top job.

Two candidates for the job are mentioned over and over again – two wonderful, charismatic public servants whose only
problem is they are not constitutionally eligible to be president.

They are Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana.

Don't get me wrong. I like both of these guys. If I were eligible to vote in Florida or Louisiana, I would vote to re-elect
them. I would support either one for almost any job in America. But there is one job for which they are, by chance of birth,
100 percent, totally and inarguably ineligible to hold office – and that is the presidency of the United States.


Because both are sons of parents who were not U.S. citizens when they were born.

Thoroughly researched for three years, the book that made Obama blink on birth certificate: Jerome Corsi's "Where's the

It's just that simple. To be a natural born citizen means to be the offspring of U.S. citizen parents at the time of birth.

Since the vice president, by definition, must be able and willing to assume the presidency in time of a national emergency,
and because the vice president is often seen politically as an heir apparent for the top job, it makes absolutely no political or
legal sense to nominate a vice presidential candidate who is not constitutionally eligible to become president.

But that's just what is happening in Republican circles and media circles – without even a hint that both Jindal and Rubio are

Now maybe you can understand how the political and media establishment missed the biggest U.S. story of the last 50 to
100 years – the illegal inauguration of an American president wholly ineligible to take office.

I guess the Constitution has just been rendered moot by default.

What are they thinking about?

Is it because the son of a visiting foreign student was able to usurp office illegally that now anything goes?

Do we just totally disregard the simple rule book that forms the foundation of American governance?

Is it only the American people who care about the Constitution and the rule of law?

Is this a bipartisan conspiracy to make it easier and easier to operate outside the confines of the law and the Constitution's
strict definition of limited government?

Do Republican elitists have any idea how widespread the concerns of Americans are about matters of constitutional

Are they willing to lose millions of votes from people who still revere and cherish every jot and tittle of the Constitution and
   especially the very minimal requirements for seeking the office of the presidency?

   This is nuts!

   But it explains a lot.

   For more than three years – both during the 2008 campaign and the first two years of Obama's fraudulent administration –
   Republicans have been virtually mute on the scandal of his ineligibility.

   Now we know why.

   They don't care.

   What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

   They're ready to take full advantage of this latest nail in the coffin of the Constitution.

   They're going to continue to thumb their noses at the Constitution and all those who believe in it by pretending that their
   own favorite sons are something they are not – namely, eligible for the presidency.

gathered in Quartzite to support the 10, of 16, town police officers who have
willfully refused to follow any further tyrannical orders from their coward
police chief, jeff the turd gilbert. A foot and vehicle order of march rally
advanced on the town hall. The town hall was surrounded and secured by rifle
bearing members of the Arizona State Guard and the Liberty Corps of New
Mexico. No other militias from the state of Arizona or elsewhere attended the
event. The police did nothing, nor did the police coward speak on his own
behalf. We won, hands down.

It remains to be seen if police officers in nearby towns remember their
oath. God was with us.

Banning Of Faith Stark Contrast with Bloomberg's Strong
Support for "Ground Zero Mosque"

It's official. New York City's Mayor Michael Bloomberg has banned faith for September 11th.

We can all recall images of that crystal clear September morning. The planes, the fire and smoke, the images of that
terrible day...
...and the cross emerging from the dust and smoke of the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001.

To take that one day in September when millions of Americans were united in prayer, and just 10 years later allow
New York Mayor Bloomberg to exterminate expressions of faith?

There is one word for that. Outrageous.

That's not the sort of America our emergency service personnel and military serve.

Those weren't the values they represent that 9/11 -- and we need to send a message to Bloomberg that America's
values have not changed.

The values that united millions of Americans in prayer 10 years ago are the same values that keep and make
America strong today.

What's worse, Islamists are spiking the football at Ground Zero! All while Mayor Bloomberg bans faith from New
York's 9/11 ceremonies?!

Grassroots Spotlight: DFW volunteers
Determined efforts from volunteers and leaders from the Dallas-
Fort Worth area resulted in a FairTax meeting with a Congressman
on the Committee on Ways and Means!

Due to busy schedules when they are in their home districts,
sometimes it can be difficult to get personal time with your
Representative in Congress. But Susie Robinson, DFW Fair Tax
Volunteer and former Fair Tax District Director for TX-24, stuck with
the mission until it was accomplished! After many phone calls and
working with Congressman Kenny Marchant's (TX-24) staff, Susie
was able to secure a 20 minute window on August 15 to discuss
the FairTax.

Because of the Congressman's sincere interest in getting his
questions about the Fair Tax addressed, the 20 minute meeting
with FairTax leaders turned into a productive 45 minutes! While
Congressman Marchant has yet to commit to co-sponsor HR 25,
the Dallas-Fort Worth Fair Tax Team is confident that the meeting
contributed greatly in moving him in the right direction.

Congressman: Focus on economy – Forsyth News

…During Wednesday’s gathering, Resident Mark Andrews
suggested kicking lobbyists out of Washington, D.C., and asked
Graves about the Fair Tax and why existing immigration laws are
not enforced. Graves said he’s a co-sponsor of the Fair Tax and

As the owner of a small business, I am confronted every day with
the harsh realities of dealing with our income tax system. I have to
keep track of income, inventories, expenses, payroll taxes,
including those for Social Security, Medicare and unemployment,
and the endless filing of various returns.

I thought all was lost, until I heard about the FairTax supported by
Americans for Fair Taxation. It will repeal the federal income tax,
both personal and corporate. Imagine the impact on business in
this country if there were zero corporate taxes. Businesses from
around the world would flock to the U.S. to set up shop. Just look at
how many corporations incorporate in Delaware for just that
reason. Want to reduce the unemployment rate? I can't think of a

What candidates favor the FairTax legislation?

Michelle Bachman: Favors - "I love the FairTax. If we were starting
over from scratch, I would favor a national sales tax." However, she
has refused to co-sponsor HR 25 because she believes "we would
end up with a dual tax, a national sales tax and an income tax."

Herman Cain: Favors – He strongly supports the FairTax but
advocates a gradual transition to it through his 999 plan which
eliminates most federal taxes and combines a 9% individual flat tax
with a 9% national sales tax.

Newt Gingrich: Neutral - Although briefed multiple times by
FairTax experts he maintains “...the FairTax is a good idea but I’m
not yet convinced it’s a doable idea...” He supports a dual system of
the current tax code and an optional flat income tax which keeps
payroll taxes and the IRS.

Jon Huntsman: Unknown – Supports removing loopholes and
deductions and combing the income tax into three rates while

Everyone seems to be waiting for politicians to submit a jobs bill.

There’s already a jobs bill in Congress. It allows workers to take

As FairTax supporters, we come across a lot of questions when we tell Americans about the transformation the
FairTax would bring to our nation.

Objections vary from person to person but we want to highlight some short answers and have included more

“My FairTax rate would be too high.”

Under the FairTax you can control your tax rate! The prebate makes basic necessities tax free and used good
never are taxed. You only pay taxes when you choose to purchase new goods and services. If you spend double

Most Americans are in a 15% tax bracket and pay another 7.65% in payroll taxes which is about 23% already. But
we spend about $400 billion dollars more every year just figuring out how much to send to Washington!

“The IRS still has to exist under the FairTax”

Under the FairTax, unlike a flat income tax, the IRS is eliminated both symbolically and literally. The FairTax
defunds the IRS and orders records to be destroyed.

The states, most of which have had more than 60 years of experience in the administration of the sales tax, will
collect and enforce the FairTax. Today, 98% of the population is covered by state or local sales taxes.

"The FairTax can’t fully fund our government”

The FairTax has been very thoroughly researched to provide all the revenues collected by the taxes it eliminates.
It also funds the prebate, collection fees for retailers and state sales tax organizations.

Other reports are largely based on the 2005 Panel on Tax Reform and subsequent misanalysis
which declared the rate would have to be much higher. The catch is, they quietly devised their own national
consumption tax which they loaded with the exemptions and deductions they felt were politically realistic.

Finally, it’s important to note that the FairTax is “revenue neutral.” Like our current tax code, it’s not calculated to
be ‘spending neutral.’

"The FairTax is not politically possible"

It’s true that great public policy changes do not happen easily. We believe, however, in the promise of the
Founding Fathers that this is a nation, "of, by and for the people". But we have seen Congressional co-sponsors
come on board faster than ever before; as more and more Americans have come to understand the powerful
benefits the FairTax offers the nation. We’re closer to victory every time Americans from the left, right and center
force another Congressman to co-sponsor the FairTax legislation.

As our ranks grow, such pressure will increase on members of Congress and at some point, the voice of the
people will eclipse the voices of the relatively small number of Washingtonians who profit from the income tax
system at great cost to our nation.

"Low and middle income people will pay more"

The FairTax actually eliminates and reimburses all federal taxes up to the poverty line for all Americans. This is
accomplished through the prebate and by eliminating the highly regressive FICA payroll tax. Today, low and
moderate income Americans pay far more in payroll taxes than income taxes. Those spending at twice the
poverty level pay a FairTax of only 11.5 percent - a rate much lower than the income and payroll tax burden they
bear today.

Also, under the federal income tax, slow economic growth and recessions have a disproportionately adverse
impact on lower-income families. Breadwinners in these families are more likely to lose their jobs, are less likely to
have the resources to weather bad economic times, and are more in need of the initial employment opportunities
that a dynamic, growing economy provides.

In a nutshell, research thoroughly documents that the rich who spend the most will pay more but low, moderate
and middle income taxpayers will benefit from the greatest gains in reduced tax liabilities.

“Politicians can raise the FairTax rate”

Yes, Congress can raise the FairTax rate just as it can and does raise the income tax rate. However, the FairTax
is highly visible. And because there is only one tax rate, it will be very hard for Congress to adopt the typical
divide-and-conquer, hide-and-disguise strategy employed today to manipulate the income tax code.

“The 23% rate is misleading. It's actually 30%"

We choose to compare the FairTax to income and payroll taxes, quoting the rate the same way, because the
FairTax replaces such taxes. That rate is 23 percent.

Sales taxes, on the other hand, are generally quoted tax exclusive: “I bought a $77 shirt and had to pay that same
$23 in sales tax." This is a 30% sales tax. Or, “I spent a dollar, 77¢ for the product and 23¢ in tax.” This rate,
when programmed into a point-of-purchase terminal, is 30%.

Note that no matter which way it is quoted, the amount of tax is the same. Under an income tax rate of 23
percent, you have to earn $130 to spend $100.

"It's not enforceable and there will be evasion"

There always will be evasion and today’s incomprehensible system does nurture our underground economy. But
the FairTax minimizes confusion and reduces compliance points by eliminating over 80% of tax returns – every
individual filing today.

Also, 80% of all retail sales now occur at large retail chains that won’t aid tax cheats. This leaves state sales tax
organizations – with decades of experience – an even smaller area to focus on.

Federal Agencies v. the Constitution

For the past several weeks the news media was filled with meetings between the White House and Congress about
raising the debt ceiling and budget cuts.

Here is a hint. Wipe the dust off of your U.S. Constitution, if you have one, or here is the link to Article I, Section 8 of
the U.S. Constitution: . Article I, Section 8. It starts out: “Congress
shall have the Power to . . . .” and goes on to list those powers delegated to the U.S. Government by the Constitution.

James Madison stated: The federal government has well defined and limited powers (Article I, Section 8) while the
states have undefined unlimited powers, (10 Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, States Rights).

When you have time, compare Article I, Section 8 with the government agencies and attempt to determine which
agencies are Constitutional and which agencies are un-Constitutional. I have only been through agencies beginning
with “F” and found numerous agencies I have never heard of. See if you can find the Department of education in
Article I, Section 8, or see if you can find the Federal Reserve in either list. You won’t find the Federal Reserve in
either list because it is not a federal agency, it is a conglomerate of private bankers but they keep printing fiat money
out of thin air.

"Lawless" ... that's how Congressman Steven King (R-IA) describes Barack Obama's
decision to trash and circumvent the laws that he swore to uphold by dictatorially
granting backdoor amnesty to millions of illegal aliens.

King specifically stated: "Congress writes the laws and the Executive Branch enforces
them. For the president to have his subordinates declare and announce they're not
going to enforce the law is de facto amnesty. It's essentially a de facto repealing of
immigration laws; it's a lawless decision, and I am very offended by it - and we must
take action."

And Congressman King is about to do just that... Take Action. King has joined others,
including Congressmen Allen West (R-FL) and Candice Miller (R-MI), in calling on Congress
to initiate Congressional hearings into Obama's latest attempt to circumvent the law and the Constitution.
And it is imperative that we add our voices to King's right here and right now... at this very moment.

Barack Obama has gone too far. He's crossed the line, too many times, and now is the
time for our elected officials in Congress to finally do their Constitutional duty and
hold Barack Obama and his administration accountable.

It's time for our Republican officials in Congress to finally grow some spines and send
Barack Obama a message that they should have sent him long ago. You are NOT above the law, Mr. Obama.
And you are NOT the law. The time to send Obama that message is right now.

President Nelson, My Fellow Americans,

I stand before you tonight, humbly grateful to God, for the blessings we all enjoy as citizens of these Great Untied
States of America.

I am grateful for our Founding Fathers, who were raised up with the courage to give their lives, but the unselfishness
to give their fortunes, and the vision to pledge their sacred honor, in order to establish a new kind of government, of
our own choosing, where we might be free.

I'm additionally grateful that these Founding Fathers had the Faith and Humility to accept the Divine Inspiration so
necessary in setting forth the Constitution as the Foundation for their new Republic.

I am honored with the privilege to be addressing you tonight on the vital subject of "The Proper Role of Government."

Men in the public spotlight constantly are asked to express an opinion on a myriad of government proposals and
projects. “What do you think of TVA?” “What is your opinion of Medicare?” How do you feel about Urban Renewal?”
The list is endless. All too often, answers to these questions seem to be based, not upon any solid principle, but upon
the popularity of the specific government program in question. Seldom are men willing to oppose a popular program if
they, themselves, wish to be popular – especially if they seek public office.


Such an approach to vital political questions of the day can only lead to public confusion and legislative chaos.
Decisions of this nature should be based upon and measured against certain basic principles regarding the proper
role of government. If principles are correct, then they can be applied to any specific proposal with confidence.

“Are there not, in reality, underlying, universal principles with reference to which all issues must be resolved whether
the society be simple or complex in its mechanical organization? It seems to me we could relieve ourselves of most of
the bewilderment which so unsettles and distracts us by subjecting each situation to the simple test of right and
wrong. Right and wrong as moral principles do not change. They are applicable and reliable determinants whether
the situations with which we deal are simple or complicated. There is always a right and wrong to every question
which requires our solution.” (Albert E. Bowen, Prophets, Principles and National Survival, P. 21-22)

Unlike the political opportunist, the true statesman values principle above popularity, and works to create popularity
for those political principles which are wise and just.

I should like to outline in clear, concise, and straight-forward terms the political principles to which I subscribe. These
are the guidelines which determine, now and in the future, my attitudes and actions toward all domestic proposals
and projects of government. These are the principles which, in my opinion, proclaim the proper role of government in
the domestic affairs of the nation.

“(I) believe that governments were instituted of God for the benefit of man; and that he holds men accountable for
their acts in relation to them, both in making laws and administering them, for the good and safety of society.”

“(I) believe that no government can exist in peace, except such laws are framed and held inviolate as will secure to
each individual the free exercise of conscience, the right and control of property, and the protection of life…”

“(I) believe that all men are bound to sustain and uphold the respective governments in which they reside, which
protected in their inherent and inalienable rights by the laws of such governments; and that sedition and rebellion are
unbecoming every citizen thus protected, and should be punished accordingly; and that all governments have a right
to enact such laws as in their own judgments are best calculated to secure the public interest; at the same time,
however, holding sacred the freedom of conscience.” (D&C 134: 1-2,5)


It is generally agreed that the most important single function of government is to secure the rights and freedoms of
individual citizens. But, what are those right? And what is their source? Until these questions are answered there is
little likelihood that we can correctly determine how government can best secure them. Thomas Paine, back in the
days of the American Revolution, explained that:

“Rights are not gifts from one man to another, nor from one class of men to another… It is impossible t discover any
origin of rights otherwise than in the origin of man; it consequently follows that rights appertain to man in right of his
existence, and must therefore be equal to every man.” (P.P.N.S., p. 134)

The great Thomas Jefferson asked:

“Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the
minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath?”
(Works 8:404; P.P.N.S., p.141)

Starting at the foundation of the pyramid, let us first consider the origin of those freedoms we have come to know are
human rights. There are only two possible sources. Rights are either God-given as part of the Divine Plan, or they are
granted by government as part of the political plan. Reason, necessity, tradition and religious convictions all lead me
to accept the divine origin of these rights. If we accept the premise that human rights are granted by government,
then we must be willing to accept the corollary that they can be denied by government. I, for one, shall never accept
that premise. As the French political economist, Frederick Bastiat, phrased it so succinctly, “Life, liberty, and property
do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it was the fact that life, liberty, and property existed
beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place.” (The Law, p.6)


I support the doctrine of separation of church and state as traditionally interpreted to prohibit the establishment of an
official national religion. But I am opposed to the doctrine of separation of church and state as currently interpreted to
divorce government from any formal recognition of God. The current trend strikes a potentially fatal blow at the
concept of the divine origin of our rights, and unlocks the door for an easy entry of future tyranny. If Americans should
ever come to believe that their rights and freedoms are instituted among men by politicians and bureaucrats, then
they will no longer carry the proud inheritance of their forefathers, but will grovel before their masters seeking favors
and dispensations – a throwback to the Feudal System of the Dark Ages. We must ever keep in mind the inspired
words of Thomas Jefferson, as found in the Declaration of Independence:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with
certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these
rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” (P.P.N.
S., p.519)

Since God created man with certain unalienable rights, and man, in turn, created government to help secure and
safeguard those rights, it follows that man is superior to the creature which he created. Man is superior to government
and should remain master over it, not the other way around. Even the non-believer can appreciate the logic of this

Leaving aside, for a moment, the question of the divine origin of rights, it is obvious that a government is nothing
more or less than a relatively small group of citizens who have been hired, in a sense, by the rest of us to perform
certain functions and discharge certain responsibilities which have been authorized. It stands to reason that the
government itself has no innate power or privilege to do anything. Its only source of authority and power is from the
people who have created it. This is made clear in the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States, which reads:
“WE THE PEOPLE… do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

The important thing to keep in mind is that the people who have created their government can give to that
government only such powers as they, themselves, have in the first place. Obviously, they cannot give that which
they do not possess. So, the question boils down to this. What powers properly belong to each and every person in
the absence of and prior to the establishment of any organized governmental form? A hypothetical question? Yes,
indeed! But, it is a question which is vital to an understanding of the principles which underlie the proper function of

Of course, as James Madison, sometimes called the Father of the Constitution, said, “If men were angels, no
government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government
would be necessary.” (The Federalist, No. 51)


In a primitive state, there is no doubt that each man would be justified in using force, if necessary, to defend himself
against physical harm, against theft of the fruits of his labor, and against enslavement of another. This principle was
clearly explained by Bastiat:

“Each of us has a natural right – from God – to defend his person, his liberty, and his property. These are the three
basic requirements of life, and the preservation of any one of them is completely dependent upon the preservation of
the other two. For what are our faculties but the extension of our individuality? And what is property but and extension
of our faculties?” (The Law, p.6)

Indeed, the early pioneers found that a great deal of their time and energy was being spent doing all three –
defending themselves, their property and their liberty – in what properly was called the “Lawless West.” In order for
man to prosper, he cannot afford to spend his time constantly guarding his family, his fields, and his property against
attach and theft, so he joins together with his neighbors and hires a sheriff. At this precise moment, government is
born. The individual citizens delegate to the sheriff their unquestionable right to protect themselves. The sheriff now
does for them only what they had a right to do for themselves – nothing more. Quoting again from Bastiat:

“If every person has the right to defend – even by force – his person, his liberty, and his property, then it follows that a
group of men have the right to organize and support a common force to protect these rights constantly. Thus the
principle of collective right -–its reason for existing, its lawfulness — is based on individual right.” (The Law, p. 6)

So far so good. But now we come to the moment of truth. Suppose pioneer “A” wants another horse for his wagon,
He doesn’t have the money to buy one, but since pioneer “B” has an extra horse, he decides that he is entitled to
share in his neighbor’s good fortune, Is he entitled to take his neighbor’s horse? Obviously not! If his neighbor wishes
to give it or lend it, that is another question. But so long as pioneer “B” wishes to keep his property, pioneer “A” has
no just claim to it.

If “A” has no proper power to take “B’s” property, can he delegate any such power to the sheriff? No. Even if
everyone in the community desires that “B” give his extra horse to “A”, they have no right individually or collectively to
force him to do it. They cannot delegate a power they themselves do not have. This important principle was clearly
understood and explained by John Locke nearly 300 years ago:

“For nobody can transfer to another more power than he has in himself, and nobody has an absolute arbitrary power
over himself, or over any other, to destroy his own life, or take away the life of property of another.” (Two Treatises of
Civil Government, II, 135; P.P.N.S. p. 93)


This means, then, that the proper function of government is limited only to those spheres of activity within which the
individual citizen has the right to act. By deriving its just powers from the governed, government becomes primarily a
mechanism for defense against bodily harm, theft and involuntary servitude. It cannot claim the power to redistribute
the wealth or force reluctant citizens to perform acts of charity against their will. Government is created by man. No
man possesses such power to delegate. The creature cannot exceed the creator.
In general terms, therefore, the proper role of government includes such defensive activities, as maintaining national
military and local police forces for protection against loss of life, loss of property, and loss of liberty at the hands of
either foreign despots or domestic criminals.


It also includes those powers necessarily incidental to the protective functions such as:

(1) The maintenance of courts where those charged with crimes may be tried and where disputes between citizens
may be impartially settled.

(2) The establishment of a monetary system and a standard of weights and measures so that courts may render
money judgments, taxing authorities may levy taxes, and citizens may have a uniform standard to use in their
business dealings.

My attitude toward government is succinctly expressed by the following provision taken from the Alabama

“That the sole object and only legitimate end of government is to protect the citizen in the enjoyment of life, liberty,
and property, and when the government assumes other functions it is usurpation and oppression.” (Art. 1, Sec. 35)

An important test I use in passing judgment upon an act of government is this: If it were up to me as an individual to
punish my neighbor for violating a given law, would it offend my conscience to do so? Since my conscience will never
permit me to physically punish my fellow man unless he has done something evil, or unless he has failed to do
something which I have a moral right to require of him to do, I will never knowingly authorize my agent, the
government to do this on my behalf.

I realize that when I give my consent to the adoption of a law, I specifically instruct the police – the government – to
take either the life, liberty, or property of anyone who disobeys that law. Furthermore, I tell them that if anyone resists
the enforcement of the law, they are to use any means necessary – yes, even putting the lawbreaker to death or
putting him in jail – to overcome such resistance. These are extreme measures but unless laws are enforced,
anarchy results.

As John Locke explained many years ago:

“The end of law is not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve and enlarge freedom. For in all the states of created
beings, capable of laws, where there is no law there is no freedom. For liberty is to be free from restraint and violence
from others, which cannot be where there is no law; and is not, as we are told, ‘a liberty for every man to do what he
lists.’ For who could be free, when every other man’s humour might domineer over him? But a liberty to dispose and
order freely as he lists his person, actions, possessions, and his whole property within the allowance of those laws
under which he is, and therein not to be subject to the arbitrary will of another, but freely follow his own.” (Two
Treatises of Civil Government, II, 57: P>P>N>S., p.101)

I believe we Americans should use extreme care before lending our support to any proposed government program.
We should fully recognize that government is no plaything. As George Washington warned, “Government is not
reason, it is not eloquence – it is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master!” (The Red Carpet,
p.142) It is an instrument of force and unless our conscience is clear that we would not hesitate to put a man to
death, put him in jail or forcibly deprive him of his property for failing to obey a given law, we should oppose it.


Another standard I use in deterring what law is good and what is bad is the Constitution of the United States. I regard
this inspired document as a solemn agreement between the citizens of this nation which every officer of government
is under a sacred duty to obey. As Washington stated so clearly in his immortal Farewell Address:

“The basis of our political systems is the right of the people to make and to alter their constitutions of government. –
But the constitution which at any time exists, until changed by an explicit and authentic act of the whole people is
sacredly obligatory upon all. The very idea of the power and the right of the people to establish government
presupposes the duty of every individual to obey the established government.” (P.P.N.S., p. 542)

I am especially mindful that the Constitution provides that the great bulk of the legitimate activities of government are
to be carried out at the state or local level. This is the only way in which the principle of “self-government” can be
made effective. As James Madison said before the adoption of the Constitution, “ (We) rest all our political
experiments on the capacity of mankind for self-government.” (Federalist, No.39; P.P.N.S., p. 128) Thomas Jefferson
made this interesting observation: “Sometimes it is said that man cannot be trusted with the government of himself.
Can he, then, be trusted with the government of others? Or have we found angels in the forms of kings to govern
him? Let history answer this question.” (Works 8:3; P.P.N.S., p. 128)


It is a firm principle that the smallest or lowest level that can possibly undertake the task is the one that should do so.
First, the community or city. If the city cannot handle it, then the county. Next, the state; and only if no smaller unit
can possible do the job should the federal government be considered. This is merely the application to the field of
politics of that wise and time-tested principle of never asking a larger group to do that which can be done by a smaller
group. And so far as government is concerned the smaller the unit and the closer it is to the people, the easier it is to
guide it, to keep it solvent and to keep our freedom. Thomas Jefferson understood this principle very well and
explained it this way:

“The way to have good and safe government, is not to trust it all to one, but to divide it among the many, distributing
to every one exactly the functions he is competent to. Let the national government be entrusted with the defense of
the nation, and its foreign and federal relations; the State governments with the civil rights, law, police, and
administration of what concerns the State generally; the counties with the local concerns of the counties, and each
ward direct the interests within itself. It is by dividing and subdividing these republics from the great national one
down through all its subordinations, until it ends in the administration of every man’s farm by himself; by placing under
every one what his own eye may superintend, that all will be done for the best. What has destroyed liberty and the
rights of man in every government which has ever existed under the sun? The generalizing and concentrating all
cares and powers into one body.” (Works 6:543; P.P.N.S., p. 125)

It is well to remember that the states of this republic created the Federal Government. The Federal Government did
not create the states.


A category of government activity which, today, not only requires the closest scrutiny, but which also poses a grave
danger to our continued freedom, is the activity NOT within the proper sphere of government. No one has the
authority to grant such powers, as welfare programs, schemes for re-distributing the wealth, and activities which
coerce people into acting in accordance with a prescribed code of social planning. There is one simple test. Do I as
an individual have a right to use force upon my neighbor to accomplish this goal? If I do have such a right, then I may
delegate that power to my government to exercise on my behalf. If I do not have that right as an individual, then I
cannot delegate it to government, and I cannot ask my government to perform the act for me.

To be sure, there are times when this principle of the proper role of government is most annoying and inconvenient. If
I could only FORCE the ignorant to provided for themselves, or the selfish to be generous with their wealth! But if we
permit government to manufacture its own authority out of thin air, and to create self-proclaimed powers not
delegated to it by the people, then the creature exceeds the creator and becomes master. Beyond that point, where
shall the line be drawn? Who is to say “this far, but no farther?” What clear PRINCIPLE will stay the hand of
government from reaching farther and yet farther into our daily lives? We shouldn’t forget the wise words of President
Grover Cleveland that “… though the people support the Government the Government should not support the
people.” (P.P.N.S., p.345) We should also remember, as Frederic Bastiat reminded us, that “Nothing can enter the
public treasury for the benefit of one citizen or one class unless other citizens and other classes have been forced to
send it in.” (THE LAW, p. 30; P.P.N.S., p. 350)


As Bastiat pointed out over a hundred years ago, once government steps over this clear line between the protective
or negative role into the aggressive role of redistributing the wealth and providing so-called “benefits” for some of its
citizens, it then becomes a means for what he accurately described as legalized plunder. It becomes a lever of
unlimited power which is the sought-after prize of unscrupulous individuals and pressure groups, each seeking to
control the machine to fatten his own pockets or to benefit its favorite charities – all with the other fellow’s money, of
course. (THE LAW, 1850, reprinted by the Foundation for Economic Education, Irvington-On-Hudson, N.Y.)


Listen to Bastiat’s explanation of this “legal plunder.”

“When a portion of wealth is tranferred from the person who owns it – without his consent and without compensation,
and whether by force or by fraud – to anyone who does not own it, then I say that property is violated; that an act of
plunder is committed!

“How is the legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to
them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of
another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime…” (THE LAW, p. 21, 26; P.P.N.S., p.

As Bastiat observed, and as history has proven, each class or special interest group competes with the others to
throw the lever of governmental power in their favor, or at least to immunize itself against the effects of a previous
thrust. Labor gets a minimum wage, so agriculture seeks a price support. Consumers demand price controls, and
industry gets protective tariffs. In the end, no one is much further ahead, and everyone sufffers the burdens of a
gigantic bureaucracy and a loss of personal freedom. With each group out to get its share of the spoils, such
governments historically have mushroomed into total welfare states. Once the process begins, once the principle of
the protective function of government gives way to the aggressive or redistribute function, then forces are set in
motion that drive the nation toward totalitarianism. “It is impossible,” Bastiat correctly observed, “to introduce into
society… a greater evil than this: the conversion of the law into an instrument of plunder.” (THE LAW, p. 12)


Students of history know that no governement in the history of mankind has ever created any wealth. People who
work create wealth. James R. Evans, in his inspiring book, “The Glorious Quest” gives this simple illustration of
legalized plunder:

“Assume, for example, that we were farmers, and that we received a letter from the government telling us that we
were going to get a thousand dollars this year for plowed up acreage. But rather than the normal method of collection,
we were to take this letter and collect $69.71 from Bill Brown, at such and such an address, and $82.47 from Henry
Jones, $59.80 from a Bill Smith, and so on down the line; that these men would make up our farm subsidy.

“Neither you nor I, nor would 99 percent of the farmers, walk up and ring a man’s doorbell, hold out a hand and say,
‘Give me what you’ve earned even though I have not.’ We simply wouldn’t do it because we would be facing directly
the violation of a moral law, ‘Thou shalt not steal.’ In short, we would be held accountable for our actions.”

The free creative energy of this choice nation “created more than 50% of all the world’s products and possessions in
the short span of 160 years. The only imperfection in the system is the imperfection in man himself.”

The last paragraph in this remarkable Evans book – which I commend to all – reads:

“No historian of the future will ever be able to prove that the ideas of individual liberty practiced in the United States of
America were a failure. He may be able to prove that we were not yet worthy of them. The choice is ours.” (Charles
Hallberg and Co., 116 West Grand Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, 60610)


According to Marxist doctrine, a human being is primarily an economic creature. In other words, his material well-
being is all important; his privacy and his freedom are strictly secondary. The Soviet constitution reflects this
philosophy in its emphasis on security: food, clothing, housing, medical care – the same things that might be
considered in a jail. The basic concept is that the government has full responsibility for the welfare of the people and ,
in order to discharge that responsibility, must assume control of all their activities. It is significant that in actuality the
Russian people have few of the rights supposedly “guaranteed” to them in their constitution, while the American
people have them in abundance even though they are not guaranteed. The reason, of course, is that material gain
and economic security simply cannot be guaranteed by any government. They are the result and reward of hard work
and industrious production. Unless the people bake one loaf of bread for each citizen, the government cannot
guarantee that each will have one loaf to eat. Constitutions can be written, laws can be passed and imperial decrees
can be issued, but unless the bread is produced, it can never be distributed.


Why, then, do Americans bake more bread, manufacture more shoes and assemble more TV sets than Russians do?
They do so precisely because our government does NOT guarantee these things. If it did, there would be so many
accompanying taxes, controls, regulations and political manipulations that the productive genius that is America’s
would soon be reduced to the floundering level of waste and inefficiency now found behind the Iron Curtain. As Henry
David Thoreau explained:

“This government never of itself furthered any enterprise, but by the alacrity with which it got out of its way. IT does
SOMETIMES GO IN ITS WAY. For government is an expedient by which men would fain succeed in letting one
another alone; and, as has been said, when it is most expedient, the governed are most let alone by it.” (Quoted by
Clarence B. Carson, THE AMERICAN TRADITION, p. 100; P.P.S.N., p.171)

In 1801 Thomas Jefferson, in his First Inaugural Address, said:
“With all these blessings, what more is necessary to make us a happy and prosperous people? Still one thing more,
fellow citizens – a wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave
them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of
labor the bread it had earned.” (Works 8:3)


The principle behind this American philosophy can be reduced to a rather simple formula:

1. Economic security for all is impossible without widespread abundance.
2. Abundance is impossible without industrious and efficient production.
3. Such production is impossible without energetic, willing and eager labor.
4. This is not possible without incentive.
5. Of all forms of incentive – the freedom to attain a reward for one’s labors is the most sustaining for most people.
Sometimes called THE PROFIT MOTIVE, it is simply the right to plan and to earn and to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
6. This profit motive DIMINISHES as government controls, regulations and taxes INCREASE to deny the fruits of
success to those who produce.
7. Therefore, any attempt THROUGH GOVERNMENTAL INTERVENTION to redistribute the material rewards of
labor can only result in the eventual destruction of the productive base of society, without which real abundance and
security for more than the ruling elite is quite impossible.


We have before us currently a sad example of what happens to a nation which ignores these principles. Former FBI
agent, Dan Smoot, succinctly pointed this out on his broadcast number 649, dated January 29, 1968, as follows:

“England was killed by an idea: the idea that the weak, indolent and profligate must be supported by the strong,
industrious, and frugal – to the degree that tax-consumers will have a living standard comparable to that of taxpayers;
the idea that government exists for the purpose of plundering those who work to give the product of their labor to
those who do not work.

The economic and social cannibalism produced by this communist-socialist idea will destroy any society which
adopts it and clings to it as a basic principle – ANY society.”


Nearly two hundred years ago, Adam Smith, the Englishman, who understood these principles very well, published
his great book, THE WEALTH OF NATIONS, which contains this statement:

“The natural effort of every individual to better his own condition, when suffered to exert itself with freedom and
security, is so powerful a principle, that it is alone, and without any assistance, not only capable of carrying on the
society to wealth and prosperity, but of surmounting a hundred impertinent obstructions with which the folly of human
laws too often encumbers its operations; though the effect of these obstructions is always more or less either to
encroach upon its freedom, or to diminish its security.” (Vol. 2, Book 4, Chapt. 5, p. 126)


On the surface this may sound heartless and insensitive to the needs of those less fortunate individuals who are
found in any society, no matter how affluent. “What about the lame, the sick and the destitute? Is an often-voice
question. Most other countries in the world have attempted to use the power of government to meet this need. Yet, in
every case, the improvement has been marginal at best and has resulted in the long run creating more misery, more
poverty, and certainly less freedom than when government first stepped in. As Henry Grady Weaver wrote, in his

“Most of the major ills of the world have been caused by well-meaning people who ignored the principle of individual
freedom, except as applied to themselves, and who were obsessed with fanatical zeal to improve the lot of mankind-
in-the-mass through some pet formula of their own….THE HARM DONE BY ORDINARY CRIMINALS, MURDERES,
BEINGS BY THE PROFESSIONAL ‘DO-GOODERS’, who attempt to set themselves up as gods on earth and who
would ruthlessly force their views on all others – with the abiding assurance that the end justifies the means.” (p. 40-
1; P.P.N.S., p. 313)


By comparison, America traditionally has followed Jefferson’s advice of relying on individual action and charity. The
result is that the United States has fewer cases of genuine hardship per capita than any other country in the entire
world or throughout all history. Even during the depression of the 1930’s, Americans ate and lived better than most
people in other countries do today.


In reply to the argument that a little bit of socialism is good so long as it doesn’t go too far, it is tempting to say that, in
like fashion, just a little bit of theft or a little bit of cancer is all right, too! History proves that the growth of the welfare
state is difficult to check before it comes to its full flower of dictatorship. But let us hope that this time around, the
trend can be reversed. If not then we will see the inevitability of complete socialism, probably within our lifetime.


Three factors may make a difference. First, there is sufficient historical knowledge of the failures of socialism and of
the past mistakes of previous civilizations. Secondly, there are modern means of rapid communications to transmit
these lessons of history to a large literate population. And thirdly, there is a growing number of dedicated men and
women who, at great personal sacrifice, are actively working to promote a wider appreciation of these concepts. The
timely joining together of these three factors may make it entirely possible for us to reverse the trend.


This brings up the next question: How is it possible to cut out the various welfare-state features of our government
which have already fastened themselves like cancer cells onto the body politic? Isn’t drastic surgery already
necessary, and can it be performed without endangering the patient? In answer, it is obvious that drastic measures
ARE called for. No half-way or compromise actions will suffice. Like all surgery, it will not be without discomfort and
perhaps even some scar tissue for a long time to come. But it must be done if the patient is to be saved, and it can be
done without undue risk.

Obviously, not all welfare-state programs currently in force can be dropped simultaneously without causing
tremendous economic and social upheaval. To try to do so would be like finding oneself at the controls of a hijacked
airplane and attempting to return it by simply cutting off the engines in flight. It must be flown back, lowered in
altitude, gradually reduced in speed and brought in for a smooth landing. Translated into practical terms, this means
that the first step toward restoring the limited concept of government should be to freeze all welfare-state programs at
their present level, making sure that no new ones are added. The next step would be to allow all present programs to
run out their term with absolutely no renewal. The third step would involve the gradual phasing-out of those programs
which are indefinite in their term. In my opinion, the bulk of the transition could be accomplished within a ten-year
period and virtually completed within twenty years. Congress would serve as the initiator of this phase-out program,
and the President would act as the executive in accordance with traditional constitutional procedures.


As I summarize what I have attempted to cover, try to visualize the structural relationship between the six vital
concepts that have made America the envy of the world. I have reference to the foundation of the Divine Origin of
Rights; Limited Government; the pillars of economic Freedom and Personal Freedom, which result in Abundance;
followed by Security and the Pursuit of Happiness.

America was built upon a firm foundation and created over many years from the bottom up. Other nations, impatient
to acquire equal abundance, security and pursuit of happiness, rush headlong into that final phase of construction
without building adequate foundations or supporting pillars. Their efforts are futile. And, even in our country, there are
those who think that, because we now have the good things in life, we can afford to dispense with the foundations
which have made them possible. They want to remove any recognition of God from governmental institutions, They
want to expand the scope and reach of government which will undermine and erode our economic and personal
freedoms. The abundance which is ours, the carefree existence which we have come to accept as a matter of course,
with His help, we shall fence them off from the foundations of our liberty, and then begin our task of repair and

As a conclusion to this discussion, I present a declaration of principles which have recently been prepared by a few
American patriots, and to which I wholeheartedly subscribe.


As an Independent American for constitutional government I declare that:

(1) I believe that no people can maintain freedom unless their political institutions are founded upon faith in God and
belief in the existence of moral law.
(2) I believe that God has endowed men with certain unalienable rights as set forth in the Declaration of
Independence and that no legislature and no majority, however great, may morally limit or destroy these; that the sole
function of government is to protect life, liberty, and property and anything more than this is usurpation and

(3) I believe that the Constitution of the United States was prepared and adopted by men acting under inspiration
from Almighty God; that it is a solemn compact between the peoples of the States of this nation which all officers of
government are under duty to obey; that the eternal moral laws expressed therein must be adhered to or individual
liberty will perish.

(4) I believe it a violation of the Constitution for government to deprive the individual of either life, liberty, or property
except for these purposes:

(a) Punish crime and provide for the administration of justice;
(b) Protect the right and control of private property;
(c) Wage defensive war and provide for the nation’s defense;
(d) Compel each one who enjoys the protection of government to bear his fair share of the burden of performing the
above functions...

 Congratulations to State Treasurer Ron Estes who was elected Midwest Regional Vice President of the National Association of
 State Treasurers - he makes us proud! Republican events continue to draw impressive crowds- The Phillips County Picnic and
 the Seward County Fundraiser were major successes. The Party's booth at the State Fair already has someone scheduled for
 every available time slot on every day - the first time anyone can recall that happening so early.

 The national news was, unfortunately, not so good. The economy added zero jobs in August, the first time since 1945 that no
 jobs have been added to the economy. Unemployment remains stuck above 9%. Productivity has fallen for two quarters in a
 row. Liberals are lashing out, one, referencing the tea party, urged his followers to "take these S. O. B.s out." There is no
 legitimate debate- the economic policies of President Obama and his Kansas supporters have failed. We need a change in
 national leadership.

Kansas State Treasurer Ron Estes                      was elected Midwest Regional Vice President of the National
Association of State Treasurers at their annual conference this week in Bismarck, North Dakota. The Regional Vice
President serves as the primary link between the National Executive Committee and the members from the region.

"I am honored to hand off the responsibility of Midwest Regional Vice President to Treasurer Estes," said Indiana
Treasurer Richard Mourdock. "Ron takes his commitment to the office of the State Treasurer and to the taxpayers of
Kansas very seriously."
Kansas Eligibility Enforcement System: The State of Kansas has finalized a contract for the
acquisition and implementation of KEES, the Kansas Eligibility Enforcement System. This state-of-the-art
computerized platform will provide an integrated eligibility determination system among state services that will identify
fraud, waste and efficiencies within Medicaid and other eligibility-based programs.
"KEES is designed with the entire State of Kansas in mind. As the electronic front door to state services, this system
will improve the eligibility process and identify significant savings for the state," Lt. Gov. Colyer said.
Gov Brownback & KS Federal Reserve President Thomas Hoenig: At a forum hosted by
Gov Brownback, Tom Hoening, President of the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City outlined the
nation's core economic failing - producing less while consuming more - and urged adoption of a neglected plan
merging Republican priorities like cutting entitlement programs with elimination of tax breaks sought by Democrats.
Hoenig, who ends a 20-year run as the bank's top official in October, said establishment of meaningful federal reform
would help industry refocus on manufacturing goods the world needs, rebuild employment lost in the recession and
shrink the national trade deficit. "What is the alternative? . . . A slow slide into a poor nation."
Wyandotte County: Want to know what kind of year 2012 will be? Two of the three senate races in

already forced to defend what was previously their safest districts.

Jobs Fair:       Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins hosted a jobs fair today at the Kansas Expocenter in Topeka to
connect Kansans looking for work with local businesses. Congresswoman Jenkins invited local Kansas employers
from both large and small businesses to participate in today's jobs fair. Agriculture Hall was near max capacity with
74 employers offering over 1000 jobs represented at the fair. Employers representing health care agencies, credit
unions, casinos, city governments, insurance companies, financial services institutions, schools, major restaurant
chains, retail companies and many other industries were present at the jobs fair.

                              2012 is looking good. We've been hearing overwhelmingly positive comments from the
                              hundreds of people at the state fair who stopped by the state party booth. And Last week, in
                              a bellwether election, the Republicans achieved two major special congressional election
                              victories-in Nevada's 2nd District and New York's 9th. We congratulate Congressmen-elect
                              Mark Amodei and Bob Turner. In both districts, the election was a referendum on the failed
                              policies of President Obama and Congressional Democrats. . . . And if you listened to the

                              national poverty rate for 2010 was 15.1%, up from 14.3% in 2009. It is the highest poverty
                              rate since 1993. About 46.2 million people are living below the poverty line, an increase of
                              2.6 million.

                              The Solyndra Scandal now threatens to engulf the White House. Americans deserve answers
                              and it is time for the President to come forward and give some. We must learn Stimulus I's
                              lessons before we push ahead with the proposed $457 billion Stimulus II.

                           Kansas Economic Plan
Gov. Sam Brownback said he is preparing for a long-stretch of slow or no
growth in the state's economy, made even more difficult by possible
reductions in federal funding year after year. But he said he will press
forward to create an atmosphere in Kansas that propels the state out of the
middle of the pack in terms of tax rates, regulation and employment.
"We've got to break out of the position we've been in," he told his council of
economic advisors this afternoon. "We're going to have to get aggressive to do
this." Revenue Secretary Nick Jordan said he and a task force are very close to rolling
out a responsible tax policy that aims to promote growth without ignoring impacts to
local government and the potential for property tax or sales tax to grow if income taxes
are reduced.
"I think people are going to look at us and go 'wow.'"
                              More SRS Reforms
The state of Kansas is reforming numerous rules for applicants and recipients of
several welfare programs, in what officials describe as a move to reduce expenses and
fraud and encourage people to find work.
The Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services announced the changes Friday
afternoon for three programs - Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, Supplemental
Nutrition Assistance Program and Child Care Assistance. They take effect Oct. 1.
Among other things, people applying for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families will
have to enroll in what the agency calls a directed job search. Recipients in that
program will have to prove that all children in a family are enrolled in school.
Also, the incomes of unmarried boyfriends or girlfriends will be included as part of a
household in qualifying for some kinds of assistance.

gambling, families, and abortion. Congressman Pompeo updated the group
                       on events in Washington, DC.

The Government is holding hearings, Monday, Sept 26, noon until 8pm at the Topeka
Expo Center. (Topeka Blvd and 17th St South) on the Keystone Pipeline, a private
sector project that could bring in millions in revenue and create thousands of jobs. The
pipeline will bring Canadian Oil to American refineries. Come, learn, and let your

                      "The $530 Million Photo Op"
The Solyndra scandal threatens to consume the Obama White House. Back in '09 Solyndra was
supposed to be the poster child for green job-creating stimulus spending. BUT after laying off
1,100 workers, wasting over $500 million in loan guarantees, going bankrupt, and becoming the
subject of an FBI criminal investigation, Solyndra is now the prime example of stimulus failure.
Before taxpayers are forced to spend another dime of stimulus money, the White House must
explain why they were so reckless the first time around. Investing in "green" energy sounds
nice, but this is a textbook case where the federal government ignored the financial warnings
and relied on cronyism to pick economic winners -- and as a result we all lost.
. . . And now newly uncovered emails, found by investigators show the White House closely
monitored the Energy Department's deliberations over the $535 million government loan and
pressured the analysts for approval, even as analysts were voicing serious concerns about the
risk. "This deal is NOT ready for prime time," one budget analyst wrote in a March 10, 2009
email, nine days later the administration formally announced the loan.

Battle plan for resisting Shariah

             project is meant to bring Americans together, Imam Abdul Rauf, the cleric who formerly led
             the work, said, "New York is the capital of the world, and this location close to 9/11 is iconic."

The subtitle to his book is "Islamic dawah (proselytizing) from the World Trade rubble."

His wife, Daisy Khan, said, "I think the building came to us, which goes to show that there is a symbolism
there, and that there's a divine hand in it; that it's so close to the tragedy that it's close proximity is very

Geller says it’s time for ordinary citizens to wake up and fight to preserve the American way of life.

Geller says because America is now in a homefront conflict, and has been since the terrorist attacks of
Sept. 11, 2001, citizens' approach to life must change.

"Every day when you wake up and throw your legs over the
bed and wipe the sleep from your eyes, ask yourself, 'What
am I going to do today to save the Republic? What can I do
today in the defense of freedom?'"

Geller is urging those who love the U.S. to plan, learn as
much as possible, educate others and create networks of
people in each neighborhood.

"You are the freedom cop on the beat in your neighborhood," she writes. "Where you see freedom
threatened, fight back. If Shariah law is being introduced in the court room, if your kid's schoolbooks
whitewash bloody Islamic history, if a mega-mosque is going up in a place not zoned for such things and
the supremacists need laws changed to accommodate them, fight back. I will help you."

She tells citizens to get behind candidates who understand the threat, and even in social activities, "try to
fuse your work with your leisure activities. Instead of going to a movie, go hear a scholar or activist on
Islamic supremacism speak. Form a group, and try to bring people to your area to speak to your group. ...
Instead of that card game, protest an antiwar rally. Instead of a tennis game, march against the Million
Muslim March in Washington, D.C. You will meet like-minded people whom you'll enjoy talking to and
being with, while increasing your reach and expanding your own personal network."

Activist of the Month - Stefani Buhajla

            Stefani Buhajla of Fayetteville, Arkansas, has taken activism to a whole new level. In 2009, she
            was working as a constituent services intern for her Congressman. Around that time, she met
            AFP Arkansas State Director Teresa Oelke, and offered her time as a volunteer for AFP's "Hands
            Off My Health Care" project. She was soon volunteering for AFP on a regular basis, and was
            asked to attend AFP Foundation's annual Defending the American Dream Summit in Washington,
D.C. She took the lessons she learned there, and at AFP Foundation's RightOnline Conference to heart.

Stefani began using Twitter (under the handle @stefanibuhajla) to spread news and information related to the
     conservative movement, and even set up a daily online e-newspaper called "Americans for Prosperity Daily."
     Stefani says that it's important for people to remember that you don't have to attend meetings to be an
     effective activist. You only have to effectively utilize social media. Stefani is a shining example of an activist
     who is daily making an impact on the political scene in her state.

reality seems like an oxymoron. If you think about it, though, it is not such a
strange construct. Politicians create their own reality….far from what the rest
of us must live. For years I have been an outlier regarding the political class
of our nation, states and locales. It’s true that I served in the state
legislature back in the ‘80’s, and my experience then plus my observations
since have transformed me into a harsh critic of government, elected officials
and the bureaucracy.

Despite my
frustration and discontent, I did not begin to express my despair with others
until 2009. The loosely formed reformists known as the “Tea Party movement”
provided an outlet for me to share my perceptions. As a long-time partisan
activist, I believed that I had much to share with many who were becoming
politically active for the first time in their lives. The challenge is somewhat
of a balancing act between sharing cynical political tips that would cause the
new people to parrot the career politicians, and giving enough strategic,
tactical and communication help to assist their becoming an effective electoral

five stages in current political involvement that I have identified. There may
be more, but I’m rather simplistic and insensitive, thus I tend to overlook
subtlety. Just as sobriety may include Twelve Steps and grief has its
recognizable stages so does political activism. The Charlie Earl taxonomy for
political development begins with Hope,
then Surprise, followed by Disbelief, succeeded by Dismay and concluding with either Withdrawal or
Frothing Anger.

political activity. Our individual egos cause us to believe that our
investments of time, talent and funds will make a difference. Some little voice
deep within us convinces us that our personal involvement may trigger the
tipping point. As we gather together with others who share our dreams for
re-establishing the Republic as the Framers designed it, we enjoy palpable
energy and power as we unite to reach our goals. After meeting several
candidates who tell us that they are totally committed to our viewpoints, we
trudge the streets, make the phone calls and campaign furiously for their

victorious anointed candidate assumes office we relish the feeling of
satisfaction we have because we have done our part to elect a true reformer.
Until….that first vote that supports a clearly unconstitutional position. True,
it was a vote that the leadership lobbied for, but we believed that OUR
committed candidate would hold fast. Our shock became surprise that he had so
quickly and so cavalierly discarded those principles that he claimed to share
with us. We rationalize it by giving him a pass because he’s a “rookie” in that
particular office while deep within we know that he has held other offices
before. He is no rookie. He is a career politician.

A short time
later our golden boy casts another vote that contradicts the Constitution and
declares that he did so “for the good of the country.” That gnawing feeling in
the pit of our stomachs following the first vote has exploded into heartburn as
we watch in stunned disbelief. OUR candidate does not represent us….except for
a few minor votes of no importance. OUR candidate is a big-government statist
with an “I-know-best” elitist attitude. He’s the same nice fellow that appeared
at our meeting. He has the same smile and friendly attitude he had when out
leaders endorsed him. He apparently does NOT have a clear vision of
constitutional principles. He is a career politician.

As the
legislative session moves on, our “representative” casts several critical votes
that increase the size of government, adds additional spending or causes taxes
to be higher. Our disbelief morphs into dismay as OUR representative
rationalizes each and every irresponsible vote and implies that ‘we the people”
do not have the necessary information for such critical decisions. We do know,
however, what insolvency is. We do know, however, what large over regulating
government is. We do know, however, what business-killing taxation is. We now
know what a career politician is.

Now we
arrive at the critical junction for a new political activist. One path is
strewn with frustration and disillusionment. The newly aware political activist
stops attending meetings and rallies. She no longer volunteers for membership
drives, issue education forums or candidate assistance. The news from the
internet and the television sickens her, and she chooses not to engage in
political discussions. The other path is adorned with flaming bushes and cacti.
Her anger fuels her energy as she dives into the fray with greater and more
forceful resolve than before. She becomes “Wonder Woman for Liberty” and
battles every incremental advance of the statist agenda. The wise person joins
her, and the fool resists her. In her hands, in her heart lies the future of
the Republic. She may not succeed, but she will be a determined advocate for
freedom. Clearly the deck is stacked against freedom. The time has come for new

Union Violence of Little Interest to Media

Over 500 people “storm” private property, break windows and vandalize other property, wield baseball bats and
crowbars, make death threats, and allegedly hold six guards hostage. Fifty law enforcement officers respond. U.S.
Marshalls are placed on standby to enforce a related injunction issued by a federal judge.

It happened yesterday at a grain terminal at Port of Longview in southwest Washington State. The perpetrators?
Members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU). The local police chief was quoted as saying,
“A lot of the protesters were telling us this is only the start.”

Not surprisingly, the incident didn’t garner much national attention. Imagine how the coverage by the so-called
mainstream media would have differed had anything even remotely similar occurred at a gathering of people of a
different political persuasion, say those Tea Party SOBs.

Union violence is not rare. The National Institute for Labor Relations (NILR) has collected over 9,000 reports of union
violence since 1975 and the actual number is much higher–by as much as a factor of ten. Only a fraction of such
offenses result in arrest and conviction.

Conservative socialists? Yes, there is such a thing. Through the conservative movement and even the Tea Party
movement there are people who endorse one of the major tenets of socialism.
What is the tenet of socialism some of these people endorse? They endorse the idea that we should silence people
who do not agree with the party line. Most of these people who endorse silencing those who are not in sync with the
establishment are, well, establishment Republicans.

Mona Charen is one of those. A few days ago she breathlessly demanded that liberals quit being hypocritical about
civility. Then she proceeded to moan that it is “much harder to call out those on your own side.”

Citing someone who called out those own our side, she went to Peter Wehner.

Peter Wehner is one of those country club GOP establishment types who manages to float through successive
Republican administrations without making any serious contributions to conservatism. Instead he believes that
anyone who does not agree with him should be silenced.

Glenn Beck? He is another that Wehner does not want to be able to speak. Beck is a hero to many in the
conservative movement. Oh, but if you are a country club Republican, Beck is too blue collar. Because he does not
want to play nice with the liberals, Beck is “bizarre.” According to Wehner, “Beck seems to be a roiling mix of fear,
resentment, and anger--the ....”

Beck is also the “most disturbing personality on cable TV.” Glenn Beck of course brought a hundred thousand people
to Washington to help “Restore Honor. He has influenced far more people that a wonky Washington beltway geek. It
seems like he has much more in common with Reagan that Wehner does.

Birthers are another group Wehner wants silenced. He blithely accepts the fact that Obama’s birth certificate is real. I
am sure he believes the check is in the mail, Obamacare will work and Obama wants to reduce spending.

While anyone, especially Wehner has the right to be wrong, Wehner does not want to allow anyone else his right to
be wrong, or if they disagree with Wehner they are most likely to be right.

And then there is the comment Wehner made that is personal. Last month in Wisconsin, I said, ““I will tell you ladies
and gentlemen, I detest and despise everything the left stands for. How anybody can endorse and embrace an
ideology that has killed a billion people in the last century is beyond me.”

Poor Peter Wehner is appalled that someone would point out the obvious. Leftist ideology kills. Sounding very much
like a liberal himself, he posted a blog where he said, “Many of us who are conservative have real concerns about
modern-day liberalism. But the notion liberalism is responsible for killing a billion people in the 20 century is grossly
irresponsible and ludicrous. I assume Phillips ....”

Really? Perhaps he should do some homework. Since 1917, far left regimes, like those loved by the American left,
have killed approximately 250 million people. This includes through internal repression, genocide (such as the
Ukrainian famine) and wars socialist countries started.

Most conservatives are pro-life, believing life begins in the womb. Most in the far left believe in abortion. From 1973 to
2008, there were approximately 50 million abortions in America. World wide, there are about 46,000,000 abortions a
year. If we consider only abortions since 1973, that comes out to 1,748,000,000.

Even with the 46 million from America included in that number, that is well over one billion. Finally, that does not even
count the people whose lives are shortened or who die, due to conditions in countries with far left regimes. After all, in
a socialist country, a person is not someone with God given, inalienable rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.
Instead, in a socialist state, the people are simply property of the state. Lefts do not care about saving people,
particularly if those people want to be free. That number does not include those who died trying to gain their freedom
from socialism. Those who were shot at the Berlin wall, died in the Straits of Florida trying to escape Cuba or died in
the Korean gulags because they wanted to get out of the Kim Jong Il worker’s paradise.

Wehner is one of those Republicans who loves to be in the minority. He is worried that if we real conservatives are
too rowdy, his liberal friends won’t like him anymore. He worries that if we conservatives keep up our good work, he
won’t be invited to those trendy liberal wine parties. He is worried that if a Tea Party conservative is elected, he won’t
have a future in the next administration.
He is one who does not believe in conservatism. He is one of those believes that anyone who does not believe the
way he does should simply be silenced.

I believe in the free market. The free market will decide which ideas are good and which are bad. I’ll take Wehner on
anytime in the free market. I do not have to whine that he needs to be silenced.

E-Verify 'flags' Obama's Social Security Number

System crunches prez's data, determines 'likely fraudulent
A private investigation reveals that the Social Security Number being used by Barack Obama does not pass a check with E-
Verify, the electronic system the U.S. Citizenship and Immigrations Services of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has
created to verify whether or not prospective employees have the required authorization to work legally in the United States.

Over the past few years, the E-Verify system has received national attention because of its ability to determine if prospective
employees are illegal immigrants who have entered the United States without the legal authority to work.

By flagging fraudulent documents, including faked Social Security Numbers, the E-Verify system can assist an employer in the
effort to make sure all prospective hires have authentic identification papers, including valid Social Security Numbers, issued to
them and not to someone else.

Now WND has obtained a copy of an affidavit from Linda Jordan, a private citizen who entered Obama's Social Security Number
into the "Self Check" section of the E-Verify website, only to find out that Obama's Social Security Number was flagged by E-
Verify as likely being fraudulent.

The document:
Jordan told WND she is a wife, mother and homemaker. She described herself as "an average citizen with reasonable research
She said she became concerned when she realized that Congress was not willing to investigate issues concerning Obama's
identity, including whether or not he currently is using a fraudulent Social Security Number, and that federal law enforcement
authorities also were doing nothing.

"Between October 2008 and May 2011, I submitted several requests to agencies and people with the legal responsibility and
authority to investigate the use of forged documents and election fraud, concerning Obama's birth records and Social Security
Number," she stated in her affidavit. "To date no one with the legal responsibility and authority has responded to any of these

Jordan told WND she finally decided to investigate Obama on her own initiative.

"I did my own research and I found allegations that Obama was using a fraudulent Social Security Number and that his birth
certificate had been forged were more than credible," she said. "Then I saw many brave people putting their reputations on the
line to get the truth concerning Obama, including military officers like Lt. Col. Terry Lakin, and I decided I could no longer just
sit back and watch."

Jordan finally decided to take matters in her own hand.

"I considered myself to be one of the employers of the president of the United States," she said, "so I decided to sign up for E-
Verify and see if I could determine whether or not I could find out something about his true identity."

In May 2010, WND reported two private investigators working independently were asking why President Obama was using a
Social Security Number set aside for applicants in Connecticut while there is no record he ever had a mailing address in that

In addition, the records indicate the Social Security Number Barack Obama is using was issued between 1977 and 1979, yet
Obama's earliest employment reportedly was in 1975 at an ice cream shop in Hawaii.

E-Verify reports suspected fraud

As seen in Exhibit 1, after Jordan entered Obama's Social Security Number into the E-Verify Self Check, the system indicated
Obama's Social Security Number produced a mismatch that warranted a visit to the Social Security Administration to investigate
the discrepancy.

More detailed analysis of Exhibit 1 shows the checked reason for the mismatch notice was: "SSA record does not verify. Other
reason. SSA found a discrepancy in the record."

Exhibit 2 shows a Social Security Online page that indicates the response "SSA record does not verify, other reason" is to be
interpreted as "Special indicator present," with the reference to three E-Verify sections.

Further research revealed that the SSA adds "Special Indicator codes" to identify Social Security Numbers that individuals
obtained fraudulently.
According to an audit report authored by the Office of the Inspector General, Social Security Administration, titled
"Effectiveness of Special Indicator Codes on the Social Security Administrations Numident File," dated August 2008, there were
9 special indicator codes as of November 2008:

     1.   False Identity
     2.   Noncitizen Not in Status
     3.   Multiple SSNs with Different Identities
     4.   Scrambled Earnings with New SSN Assigned
     5.   SSN Obtained Using Fraudulent Documentation
     6.   SSN Assignment Based on Harassment/Abuse/Life Endangerment

"Eight of the Special Indicators have to do with fraud of some kind," Jordan said. "It looks to me like the SSN Obama is using
has been flagged with a Special Indicator suggesting fraud."

WND's phone call to the media office of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigrations Services of the U.S. Department of Homeland
Security went unanswered.

Whose Social Security Number is Obama using?

As seen in Exhibit 3, U.S. Air Force Col. Gregory Hollister, retired, has obtained from the Social Security Administration
verification that the Social Security Number currently being used by Barack Obama is a number that was never issued to Obama.

Yet, WND has independently verified that Obama is using the Social Security Number in question.

Researcher Felicito Papa has further confirmed, in an affidavit filed on lawyer Orly Taitz's website, that Obama's Social Security
Number is clearly legible in a non-redacted layer of the electronic file when Obama's 2009 federal tax return is viewed in Adobe

On Aug. 30, 2011, Judge Royce C. Lamberth, chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, granted
summary judgment dismissing a federal lawsuit brought by Taitz, asking for FOIA disclosure of Obama's Social Security

Taitz had alleged Obama was engaged in Social Security identity fraud, using a Social Security Number that had not been issued
to him; Lamberth ruled that privacy restrictions prevented the Social Security Administration from releasing the requested files,
despite the fact Obama is a public figure.

Federal Judge Holds WA Union In Contempt of Court
for Raid

Remember the Union Longshoreman Revolt last week?

You know, the one where a longshoreman told the media to 'Get Your F-----g Camera Out of Here?'
Well the good news is that this union thuggery is actually bringing down what could turn into some real
consequences, for once. A U.S. District Judge held the ILWU in contempt of court.

And he has asked the victim of the union thuggery to account for the damages so the judge can fine the union the
appropriate amount.

Apparently a restraining order was in effect, due to assaults and death threats by the union and/or its members.

Here's a bit more detail from The Blaze:

Early Thursday, 500 Longshoremen broke down gates of the Port of Longview at about 4:30 a.m. and smashed
windows in the guard shack, he said. Six guards were held hostage for a few hours.

Police from several agencies in southwest Washington, the Washington State Patrol and Burlington Northern Santa
Fe responded to the violence to secure the scene that followed a clash with police the day before.

This sort of union thuggery must end here in America. Remember, our nation is at stake. The Marxist revolutionaries
would LOVE for there to be CHAOS here in America, because then they can take control, with or without Obama's

Washington Union Held In Contempt for Terminal

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- A federal judge found a union in contempt of court Thursday, a week after police said
hundreds of its members raided a grain terminal in southwestern Washington, smashed windows and menaced
security guards.

U.S. District Judge Ronald Leighton said he wants the operator of the Longview grain terminal, EGT, to provide him
an accounting of the damage for purposes of gauging how much he should fine the International Longshore and
Warehouse Union Locals 4 and 21.

Leighton had issued a temporary restraining order before last week's actions, demanding that the union not block
entrances to the grain terminal. But the union's members, upset that EGT has hired a contractor staffed with workers
from a different union, repeatedly blocked a train carrying a grain shipment there, then stormed the terminal and
dumped some of the grain. One longshoreman faces assault and other charges, and a woman was arrested for
trespassing after being accused of blocking the train.

The judge mused Thursday about whether it would helpful to set out a schedule of fines should the union violate his
orders again, but decided against it.

"It's like asking the parent of a juvenile delinquent to predict your client's behavior," he told attorneys.

The Longshore union has an agreement with the Port of Longview entitling it to work at the port, but EGT claims it is
not a party to that agreement and need not follow it.

Leal Sundet, of the union's coast Longshore division, said the company hasn't been held to account for hurting the
community with its employment decisions.

"If union members stand on a train track exercising their First Amendment rights, it is a crime," Sundet said. "But, if a
major corporation plunders an entire community, it matters not."

Leighton's decision to hold the union in contempt followed lengthy testimony about what happened during the
protests and the raid. Security guard Charlie Cadwell, employed by Columbia Security for patrols at the Longview
grain terminal for the past two months, told the judge of the harrowing experience: Every protester he saw that night
was carrying a weapon - baseball bats, lead pipes, garden tools.

"I didn't see a longshoreman who didn't have something in his hands," he said.

He was was pulled out of his car by one longshoreman, and another man swung a metal pipe at him, he said.

"I told him, `You have 50 cameras on you and law enforcement is on its way,'" Cadwell said. "He said, `(expletive)
you. We're not here for you, we're here for the train.'"

In the meantime, someone drove off with his car and eventually ran it into a ditch. Cadwell said about 40 to 50 people
were throwing rocks at him, and that he was hit between his eyes and in his knee.

When asked how he knew the men who attacked him were Longshore workers, he said he recognized them from
previous encounters. Before working at the grain terminal, he worked at Weyerhauser for five years, where he also
worked with longshoremen.

Another employee of Columbia Security, Kenneth Sharpe, said he was also threatened with a baseball bat. He was
inside a guard shack when a glass window was broken.

A police officer and other security guards testified about other verbal threats, and one man said he heard what
sounded like air hoses being cut on a train.

Federal labor authorities suggested a fine of $25,000 for any and each future violation of the restraining order.

House OK's GOP Bill to Curtail NLRB's Authority

House OKs GOP Bill To Curtail NLRB’s Authority

The House passed a Republican measure Thursday that calls for curtailing the National Labor Relations Board’s
enforcement power — a move that would undermine a federal complaint against the Boeing Co. for opening a new
plant in South Carolina.

The bill would prohibit the NLRB from ordering an employer to shut down plants or relocate work, even if a company
is found to have illegally retaliated against unionized employees.

“The Republican bill simply says that forcing a business to close its doors and relocate to another part of the country
is an unacceptable remedy for today’s workforce,” said Rep. John Kline, Minnesota Republican and chairman of the
House Education and the Workforce Committee.

“If the NLRB is allowed to exercise this radical authority, it will have a chilling effect on our economy.”

The House passed the measure largely along party lines by a vote of 238 to 186. Eight Democrats supported the
measure, while seven Republicans opposed it. House Assistant Minority Leader James E. Clyburn, the lone
Democrat in the South Carolina congressional delegation, voted no.

The bill is expected to die in the Democrat-controlled Senate.

Republicans and the business community say the NLRB during the Obama administration years have overstepped its
bounds by imposing excessive regulations that hurt business. Conservatives are particularly upset over some union-
friendly rulings by the board.
The GOP measure was born out of an NLRB complaint in April that accused Boeing of punishing union workers in
Washington state by building a new nonunion assembly plant for its 787 airliner in South Carolina, a right-to-work

The agency filed the complaint after a yearlong investigation of unfair labor practices brought by the Seattle chapter
of the International Association of Machinists. The chapter accused Boeing of locating a second assembly linechapter
of the for the 787 aircraft in South Carolina, rather than in Washington state, as retaliation for a 2008 strike.

Democrats and organized labor said Republicans are using the measure to unfairly target unions and stifle collective-
bargaining rights. They added that by weakening the NLRB’s authority, companies would have an easier time
relocating jobs overseas.

“This is the outsourcers bill of rights,” said Rep. Robert E. Andrews, New Jersey Democrat. “This is a bill that
overreaches. It undercuts the middle class of this country.”

Opponents also complained the bill would interfere with ongoing litigation.

“It is not good legislative policy to legislate on individual cases,” said Rep. Rush D. Holt, New Jersey Democrat.

The NLRB says its complaint doesn’t seek to shut down the Boeing plant, but rather would require the company to
move the new 787 airliner production lines back to Washington state.

But Boeing officials, who have denied the charges, say the South Carolina facility that opened in June was built
specifically for construction of the aircraft and that the NLRB’s ruling effectively would shutter the plant and force the
layoff more than a thousand new workers there.

Boeing has argued that it’s a private company that should be allowed to operate wherever it wants. The aerospace
giant said it was a smart business decision to go to North Charleston, S.C.

“We have said consistently that the complaint is groundless and legally unsupportable,” said Boeing spokesman Tim
Neale. “Boeing did not transfer work from Washington to South Carolina. The production line in Charleston is new

The company added that since its decision to build the South Carolina plant, it has hired about 5,000 workers in
Washington state.

But Democrats and unions say the GOP bill is aimed at protecting big business and will make it more difficult to
workers to defend their legal rights.

“It would leave the NLRB powerless to protect workers who refuse to stay on an unsafe job. The company could just
move the work, rather than fix the problems,” said Richard Trumka, president of the AFL-CIO labor federation.

Barack Obama has gone too far. He's exceeded his constitution authority one too many
times. And the only questions that now remain are: What is Congress going to do about it?... and just as
important: What are you going to do about it?

Of course, we're not the only ones saying that Obama's Backdoor Amnesty Decree is way
out of bounds. David B. Rivkin Jr. and Lee A. Casey, two former Justice Department
officials in the Reagan and Bush administrations, tell us that "there is little
question that the line has been crossed."

In an editorial published by the liberal Washington Post, Rivkin and Casey go on to
say: "Only Congress has constitutional authority to establish U.S. immigration policy,
and fundamental reform requires legislative action. Thus the administration’s recent
announcement that deportation will be sought only for undocumented immigrants who have
committed crimes in the United States violates the separation of powers and is

But Rivkin and Casey were not done: "As the Supreme Court stated in the 1838 case
Kendall v. United States, the power to dispense with laws enacted by Congress 'has no
countenance for its support in any part of the constitution.'”

And there you have it. We could say that Barack Obama has declared himself King, but
Rivkin and Casey have something to say on that score as well. They point out that King
James II of Britain "was deposed in no small part because he claimed the right to
generally suspend laws enacted by Parliament and to dispense with law in individual

We're not going to let this issue go away! Barack Obama has gone too far. He's crossed
the line one too many times, and now is the time for our elected officials in Congress
to finally do their Constitutional duty and hold Barack Obama and his administration

It's time for our Republican officials in Congress to finally grow some spines and send Barack Obama a
message that they should have sent him long ago. You are NOT above the law, Mr. Obama. And you are NOT
the law. The time to send Obama that message is right now .

The Social Security Debate
                                                     Romney vs. Perry

The GOP presidential race this week boiled down to two words: Social Security. Specifically, which candidates have
said what about the public retirement program set up by socialist Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Great
Depression. The kindling has long been there for a fiery debate about the government's massive obligations to an
aging population, but Texas Gov. Rick Perry's previous comments about Social Security being a "monstrous lie" and
a "Ponzi scheme" lit the spark in Monday's Republican debate when several other candidates took issue with his
position. So, is Social Security a Ponzi scheme?

Mitt Romney says no, and he seized the opportunity to cast the rhetoric of his main Republican rival as "over the top"
and "frightful to many people." Romney warned, "If we nominate someone who the Democrats can correctly
characterize as being opposed to Social Security, we would be obliterated as a party."

Frankly, both men have a point, though Romney used similar language in his own book to describe the program.
Numerous figures on the Left have also over the years, dating back at least to a 1967 Newsweek column by liberal
economist and Nobel laureate Paul Samuelson.

Strictly speaking, Social Security is not a Ponzi scheme, in part because it's not against the law. Indeed, it is the law.
(Try not paying payroll taxes -- i.e., "investing" in the system.) But it is structured exactly like a Ponzi scheme, and it
will eventually fail for the same reasons. Today's workers are paying for the checks of today's retirees, and it has
always been that way. From the start, politicians have raided the Social Security "trust fund" and spent the money on
other general fund projects. What was left were worthless IOUs. Now that benefits paid exceed taxes collected, that
problem has become acute. According to the Social Security board of trustees, in 1945, there were 42 workers for
every retiree; the current ratio of three workers to every retiree is unsustainable.

Perry later wrote a USA Today op-ed to clarify his position. He thinks Social Security must be reformed so that it can
both be saved for those in and nearing retirement, as well as for younger workers. Still, Perry's problem is exactly as
Romney indicated: Democrats (and apparently other Republicans) will demonize him for wanting to "destroy" Social
Security. The program is still popular, and if voters think that a politician is going to take away their money, they will
object vehemently. (Of course, their money has already been taken away, but that seems to escape the notice of far
too many people.) Republicans have to walk the tightrope of calling for reform without being successfully

The GOP candidates are shying away from any mention of Medicare, however, which is in far worse fiscal condition
than Social Security. Annual spending on Medicare and Medicaid is now 5.5 percent of GDP, and by 2030, the
Congressional Budget Office predicts that it will reach nearly 10 percent. Medicare by itself is already the biggest
spender on medical services in the U.S., and that $525 billion in 2010 is influencing the market for everyone else.
Perhaps Herman Cain said it best: "I don't care what you call it, it's broken." He's right. And no matter what we call
these programs, the important thing is to recognize that they will cause the nation to go broke if we don't fix them. But
they can't be fixed unless conservatives win elections, and winning elections might require a more tactful approach.

News From the Swamp: Stimulus Jr.

Barack Obama gave details of his "jobs" proposal Monday, and then quickly hit the road, urging everyone at every
appearance he made to support its quick and complete passage. "If you love me," he crooned, "you've got to help me
pass this bill." Obama maintains that his $447 billion plan will fix America's unemployment problem, which has grown
increasingly worse under his watch. The bill will create 1.9 million jobs, he says, and reduce unemployment by a full
percentage point. Yet Stimulus Jr. merely repeats many of the proposals that didn't work when they were passed in

For instance, the employee payroll tax would be expanded. There is also a $49 billion extension of unemployment
benefits. The current maximum for the unemployed to draw benefits is 99 weeks (just three weeks short of two whole
years), and when that line in the sand was drawn in 2009, Democrats said they would never have to cross it. They
now support the extension, however, because they claim the added money will flow back into the economy through
consumer spending -- despite all evidence to the contrary. Also, $60 billion will be dedicated to infrastructure
spending and the creation of an infrastructure bank to finance projects when and if they become shovel-ready.

Obama maintains that this plan "is fully paid for." How, you ask? Well, the president has rolled out the same solutions
for that, too. Tax increases to the tune of $467 billion -- over 10 years. Remember, the spending would occur this
year. Tax rates would go up for families making over $250,000 per year, and some deductions such as charitable
donations would be limited. (We can all watch charitable giving plummet if that happens.) Obama would also end tax
breaks for oil companies and corporate jet owners, and raise the tax paid by hedge funds and investment
partnerships. Republicans and some Democrats have previously rejected these proposals because they would hit
precisely the small business job creators that are needed to jumpstart the economy. Besides, if wealthy leftists feel
guilty about their prosperity and want to give more to the government, they're perfectly free to do so.
House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor have both stated publicly that they won't support any
elements of the program that call for more stimulus spending -- and rightly so. Diana Furchtgott-Roth of the
Manhattan Institute said in her House testimony on the subject this week, "Those who believe that the 2009 stimulus
simply was not enough ... should admit that if $1 trillion did not work in 2009, then $447 billion is unlikely to solve an
even larger problem in 2011." Furthermore, conservatives and far-left Democrats reject the idea of an extended
payroll tax cut because it will reduce the amount of money paid into an already fragile Social Security system.

It's hard to imagine that Obama has much of a chance of passing his jobs plan intact with such an array of
Republicans and Democrats aligned against him. In fact, that's exactly what he wants, because he can then run
against the "do-nothing Congress" in 2012. Indeed, it's a rerun of Harry Truman's 1948 campaign. Obama says, "This
Congress, they are accustomed to doing nothing, and they're comfortable with doing nothing, and they keep on doing

A final note: Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) snagged the name Obama had chosen for his boondoggle -- The American
Jobs Act -- for his own piece of legislation, H.R. 2911, which proposes a tax cut to stimulate the economy. Tellingly,

Corporation Primer and the Supreme Court Decision!

I've been reading the posts in "Today's Supreme Court Decision" and came to a realization!
Many of us really don't know what a corporation is, in conceptual terms!
Why are there corporations? Why Must there be corporations?

It's not something Bad! It's not something Good!
It's a separate entity, much like a person! A Citizen, actually, in many ways.

Let me explain, in simple conceptual terms.

Assume Joe Schmoe decides to go into business making BabyBumberChutes. He makes
really good ones, and is pretty sure he can earn a good living
producing them. And babies seem to love then!

But then , he realizes that if one child is injured in one of his BumberChutes somehow, his financial responsibility may
greatly exceed his entire worth! He'll lose his home: his family will be destitute! He would be a pauper. What to do?

Incorporate! Legally create a new entity: a responsible "Person" that will produce these products.
That's great, right, from his viewpoint?

Well, perhaps not. Before Joe gets anything, this new entity pays income taxes. All
kinds of taxes! And it owns everything in the business that he
created. Joe really doesn't own it anymore. Joe has to pay income
taxes as well on on his portion of the profits,any that may be left
after the corporate taxes are paid. Thats Double

Note also, the term " inc." should inform the buyer that the assets involved are only equal to
the BabyBunker business: Joe's home, his family's property is not

The British term ".ltd" meaning "Limited Responsibility is much more descriptive.
And it's variants, like "pty,ltd" are even better.

Now: Assume that Joe Schmoe has partners in the venture:Tom, Dick and
Joe is a Democrat, Tom is a Republican, Dick is a Communist(same as Joe) and Harry could give a damn, never has
never will!

How about the new taxpayer,BabyBumperChutes.Inc? Does he not deserve a voice in his future as well? Not a
of his parts, but of him, as an entity, a taxpayer, a citizen as
well! The Supremes just reaffirmed the voice of this fine taxpaying
citizen as well. He is legal, and pays taxes, right? Who should deny
his viewpoint... affecting his future?

Of course, it gets a lot more complicated in detail, but that's the general idea. We must
first realize why corporations must exist today in a free market
society. It's either that or State ownership....called Socialism. And
Socialism just doesn't work!

Sorry everybody! This was dredged up from the archives of 18 months ago, by a single member comment. But it's as
appropriate today as it was then. And it will remain so, as long as we have socialists in power. Read and understand,

Repeal the Seventeenth Amendment

An important assault on State’s rights was the Seventeenth Amendment. The product of the time when Populism and
Progressivism were sweeping large sections of America, the Seventeenth Amendment jammed a wedge of pure democracy into
the Constitution where it was never designed to belong. This upset the Constitutional checks-and-balances system, weakened
State rights and power, and magnified the power of special interests in Washington.

In the original bicameral design of the Constitution, the Legislature was divided between a House and a Senate. Members of the
House represent the people of the United States; these representatives are therefore elected in each state by popular vote. The
Senate, today, is the same, but not originally so. It was originally designed not to represent the people, but to represent the States,
and thus protect issues regarding State’s rights and powers. Thus, Senators were elected by the legislatures in each State. With
this arrangement, each State had popular representation according to population in one house, and equal representation for the
State itself in the other.

The change came, as I said, during the era of the rise of populism and progressivism—both of which movements placed heavy
emphasis on democracy at the expense of republicanism (the idea, not the party). The change did not come about due to sober
reflection upon American political science, tradition, the Constitution, or other state papers; there was little philosophical
analysis; the change came about due to pure party politics building up until it could seize the right moment in Congress. It was
enabled, however, sadly, by corruption which was easily exposed and exploited toward that political goal.

It is not without irony that the centers of populism—the Midwest and Northwest mainly—were also the centers fighting most for
Senate election reforms. These same States during this era saw direct-democracy reforms passed into their Constitutions in the
form of initiative and referendum powers, backed mainly by farm and labor unions. Along with these efforts, most of these
States’ were also allowing election of their Senators by some form of referendum or popular input. They were, in effect, already
practicing direct popular election of Senators.

But it was not enough for these ideologues—as it rarely is for any leftists or Statists—to rest content with their own States (the
way State issues ought to be treated). They hungered to force direct election of Senators upon every other State in the union as
well. And aided by the very procedures outlined in the original tool of centralization—the Constitution—they eventually
achieved their goal. While the popularly elected House continually proposed an Amendment for the measure, the Senate—
understandably—rejected it just as often. This occurred until 1911. By this time, the Senate was dominated by Senators from
States where direct election was being practiced. Thus, Senatorial resistance to the issue was broken down, and the Amendment
bill finally passed the Senate.

After the bill subsequently passed the House, a massive media campaign was begun to expose State legislatures as tools of
cooperate special interests. Aided by special exposés and accusations of bribery, etc., progressives were able to portray the
Constitutional system as having become corrupt and in need of immediate change. Implicated, the State legislatures were
powerless to withstand. By 1913, 36 of the 48 States ratified. One—Utah—explicitly rejected it, and nine simply refused to take
the lost cause once it was ratified by the requisite three-fourths. The nine holdouts were the States that historically most respected
the need for State’s rights: Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland, South Carolina, and of course,
Rhode Island.

No doubt, the State legislatures and thus the Senators had indeed become corrupted by massive corporate influences, lobbies, and
special interests. But consider two things: first, the farm and labor unions that pushed for popular democracy were no different!
They themselves were essentially incorporated collectives formed for the sole purpose of advocating the special interests of
farmers and laborers. So the special interest and lobbying problem wasn’t truly solved by this means, it was merely shifted from
domination by one special interest to another.

Second, not only was the power shifted from one special interest to another, but the degree, focus, and scope of power of that
special interest shifted as well. Now, instead of dealing with State-wide lobbies, and interests and corporations within their
respective States, Senators are now subject to the corrupting power and influence of national lobbies and special interests. Now,
instead of dealing merely with the local rich and powerful, Senators can be compromised by influences from outside their own
States. This means, the people of a particular State may be subjected to the power and influence of a powerful corporation or
organization—or especially a national union—from outside their State pressuring Senators in general. So from this perspective,
the special interest problem is not only unsolved, it is actually exacerbated and even more entrenched than before.

Thus, the very reasons for which the Seventeenth Amendment was stated to have been necessary have become one of the leading
reasons for it to be removed.

This was noticed by Senator Zell Millier, a conservative Democrat who retired from the Senate in 2004. Upon his retirement—
perhaps the only occasion for which he could speak so openly—he criticized the Senate for having become “one big, bad,
ongoing joke held hostage by special interests.”[1] His subsequent statement were illuminating and interesting:

One man inquiring into the prospect of a Senate race observed the body with disgust, and concluded the Senate to be composed
of, Miller says:

A bunch of pompous, old—and I won’t use his word here, I would say “folks”—listening to people read statements they didn’t
even write and probably don’t believe.

Meanwhile, the laws of this country are subject to special interests like environmentalists and judicial activists. Indeed, “Most of
the laws of the land, at least the most important and lasting ones, are made not by elected representatives of the people but by
unelected, unaccountable legislators in black robes who churn out volumes of case law and hold their jobs for life.” To this we
could as easily add, unelected lobbyists and bureaucrats writing volumes of regulations and administrative law.

Miller criticized the turn toward democracy at the expense of a republic:

No matter who you send to Washington, for the most part smart and decent people, it is not going to change much because the
individuals are not so much at fault as the rotten and decaying foundation of what is no longer a Republic. It is the system that
stinks, and it is only going to get worse because that perfect balance our brilliant Founding Fathers put in place in 1787 no longer
exists. . . .

You see, the reformers of the early 1900s killed it dead and cremated the body when they allowed for the direct election of U.S.
Senators. Up until then, Senators were chosen by State legislatures, as James Madison and Alexander Hamilton had so carefully
crafted. Direct elections of Senators, as great and as good as that sounds, allowed Washington’s special interests to call the shots,
whether it is filling judicial vacancies, passing laws, or issuing regulations. The State governments aided in their own collective
suicide by going along with that popular fad at the time.

Note hoe the problem is not just special interests in general—for you’ll never eliminate those—but “Washington’s special
interests.” The stage has indeed shifted to bigger, more powerful, national special interests, as I said.

Now more democratized in nature, the Congress no longer works to protect State’s rights. As a result, we have unfunded federal
mandates placed upon the States in which the Federal government essentially tells States what to do and makes them pay for it—
to the tune of $33 Billion at the time Miller was speaking (for 2005). Miller asks, “[C]an you imagine those dreadful unfunded
mandates being put on the States . . . if Senators were still chosen by and responsible to the State legislatures?”

Of course not. But the same special interests which keep State interests so weak also keep the Senators themselves personally
interested in maintaining direct election for themselves. Where do you think their campaign funding comes from? Miller answers:
Make no mistake about it. It is the special interest groups and their fundraising power that elect Senators and then hold them in
bondage forever. In the past five election cycles, Senators have raised over $1.5 billion for their election contests, not counting all
the soft money spent on their behalf in other ways. Few would believe it, but the daily business of the Senate in fact is scheduled
around fundraising. . . .

As a result, we have a tyranny of special interests and unions empowered and entrenched at the national level instead of merely at
the State level. The States themselves, rather than being represented properly, essentially act as one more lobby for Senator’s
attention, except the States can’t buy them off:

The election of Senators by the State legislatures was the lynchpin that guaranteed the interests of the States would be protected.
Today State governments have to stand in line because they are just another one of the many special interests that try to get
Senators to listen to them, and they are at an extreme disadvantage because they have no PAC.

Miller concludes of the Seventeenth Amendment, that it “destroyed federalism forever,” and “was a victory for special-interest
tyranny and a blow to the power of State governments that would cripple them forever.”

Concluding his speech, Mr. Miller introduced a bill to repeal the Seventeenth Amendment, which was like asking each one of his
fellow Senators to bite the hands that fed them. The proposed bill never made it out of committee.

Then, in a brave display of fighting national special interests, Miller became a board member of one of the largest lobbies in
Washington, the NRA.

Are things really this hopeless?

I disagree with Miller’s conclusion. True federalism and the power of State governments have not been destroyed “forever.” With
the groundswell of interest in self-government and limited government arising with the TEA-Parties and similar groups, a lot has
changed even in the few years since Miller’s 2004 speech. A much bigger and more eager audience than ever before is embracing
the message: decentralization and restrictions on higher levels of government. Recovering State’s rights is an important piece of
that puzzle. Restoring proper representation of State interests in Washington—and thus the repeal of the Seventeenth
Amendment—is an important step in recovering that piece. Simple education about that Amendment and its history is awakening
many people to the importance of repealing it.

No, it will not eliminate special interests (this is perhaps impossible). But it will decentralize them. This is surely something
worth pursuing. And while it certainly is not sufficient toward the overall effort to decentralize power and government, it
certainly is necessary. It is certainly worth contacting and educating your State and national representatives about.

Posse certificatus: Sheriff probes Obama birth

Famous Arizona lawman responds to citizen request to probe

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona has constituted a special law enforcement posse to investigate allegations
brought by members of the Surprise, Ariz., Tea Party that the birth certificate Barack Obama released to the public April 27
might be a forgery, WND has learned.

The posse, under the authority of Arpaio's office, will consist of two former law enforcement officers and two retired attorneys,
headed by Michael Zullo, a retired police detective originally from Bergen County, N.J.

Autographed copies of Jerome Corsi's "Where’s the Birth Certificate?" are available only from the WND Superstore
WND confirmed with Zullo and with Arpaio's office that the investigation into the Obama birth certificate has been sanctioned
fully by Arpaio's office. The investigation, they said, will be conducted with "utmost diligence," and the investigators will be
authorized to utilize subpoena power.

Arpaio spokesman Lt. Justin Griffin told WND that Arpaio's posse will consist entirely of volunteers and will avoid incurring any
cost to the taxpayers of Maricopa County.

"I am very grateful that Sheriff Joe Arpaio is a sincere man of his word and a fearless, patriotic American," Brian Reilly, a
spokesman for the Surprise Tea Party, told WND.

The document in question, which has been described as a fraud by numerous analysts and experts in imaging, documents and

Reilly had less kind words for his representatives in Washington, D.C.

"Congress should be ashamed," he said. "They didn't even have the backbone to uphold their constitutional oaths of office to
initiate this investigation."

Arpaio's move is unprecedented in that WND research can find no other instance in United States history in which a county
sheriff's office has undertaken an investigation of a document pertaining to a sitting United States president.

Arpaio's decision follows a meeting held in his office Aug. 17 with a group of Surprise Tea Party representatives, including
Reilly. Four days later, the group presented a formal letter to Arpaio expressing concern that should Obama use a forged birth
certificate to prove his eligibility for the 2012 presidential ballot in Arizona, the voting rights of the residents of Maricopa County
could be irreparably compromised.

WND reported Aug. 21 that the letter formally stated the following charge: "The Surprise Tea Party is concerned that no law
enforcement agency or other duly constituted government agency has conducted an investigation into the Obama birth certificate
to determine if it is in fact an authentic copy of 1961 birth records on file for Barack Obama at the Hawaii Department of Health
in Honolulu, or whether it, or they are forgeries."
The letter noted that to date, despite continuing
legal challenges, the Hawaii Department of Health
has refused to make public or to release to
independent forensic examination by qualified
examiners the original Obama birth records held
in secret in the Hawaii Department of Health files.

"Having exhausted all available governmental and
law enforcement resources at our disposal, we are

officer in Maricopa County where we reside," the Surprise, Ariz., tea-party leaders Julie Wise, Jim Wise and Jeff Lichter

when enforcing those laws is unpopular in Arizona or out-of-favor with the wishes of a federal government that may choose to
ignore the law to the detriment of the residents of Maricopa County."

The letter expressed confidence that Arpaio will take his law enforcement responsibilities seriously and "will not ignore the
request or delegate the request to some other government or law enforcement agency in the state or the federal government that
will choose to not respond to our requests for political reasons."

"But, quite frankly, Sheriff Arpaio, you are our last resort to see Arizona statutes enforced to preserve the integrity of Arizona
election law," the letter continued.

In addition to the letter, the Surprise Tea Party delivered to Arpaio a petition with 242 signatures that were obtained at the Aug.
17 meeting.

The group also gave to Arpaio a binder containing the published reports of 20 experts with established credentials who conducted
a forensic examination of the computer PDF file published on the White House website and the photocopies of the Obama birth
certificate handed out by the White House to the press during the April 27 press conference.

The Arizona State Legislature on April 15 passed a bill that would have required candidates for the presidency to prove to the
Arizona secretary of state their eligibility to be president under Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution. Arizona Republican Gov.
Janet Brewer, however, vetoed the bill.

Palestine is not a state, nor should it be a state. It is a small enclave of terrorists. The leading party in Palestine is
Hamas. Hamas is a terrorist group. They have engaged in attacks on civilians. They have tried to Islamify the
“Palestinian areas.” Hamas has engaged in repeated rocket attacks against Israel and has sent suicide bombers into
Israel. The Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, who is a Hamas member condemned the killing of Osama Bin
Laden, calling him a “martyr.”

This begs the question. Why the hell are American tax dollars going to this organization?

When The Obama regime is trying to go after their boogiemen, the “rich” and “evil corporations” for more money, we
Americans need to be asking questions.

Let’s start with a simple question. Whose bright idea was it to start giving money to a terrorist state? What has
happened to the money that we have given to this terrorist state over the years? Has that money been used to buy
things like guns, bullets, bombs or rockets? Has that money been used to line the pockets of corrupt politicians in the
Palestinian area? Has that money been used to advance Islam? Has that money gone to Hamas or any of the other
terrorist organizations that are Islamic terrorist groups?

These are all questions that the Obama regime should be asked. Some of the answers can be easily found. Since the
mid 1990’s, the United States has given over $4 billion in aid to Palestine! In 2005, then President Bush and the
Congress increased the aid to Palestine. (See, you knew it had to be Bush’s fault!) In 2009, the first year of the
Obama regime, aid to Palestine surged to almost $1 billion. Since then it has settled back to the range of half a

One of the best ways to get an officer fired these days is to accuse him of saying something critical of the celebration
of homosexual sodomy, telling an off-color joke, or saying something to a female that is considered 'sexual
harassment,' such as daring to express admiration for her looks.

So do our servicemen & women not deserve the freedom of speech that is vehemently protected for anti-American,
anti-Christian, anti-Family hatemongers in the media and 'academia?'

The courts have ruled that attacking Christians and the family are just fine, smearing feces on, or immersing in a jar
of urine, symbols of Christianity are 'protected speech,' as is pornography, but criticizing the CELEBRATION of a
deviant sexual act or telling a girl she looks nice, or expressing one's religious convictions are somehow grounds to
end the career of a naval aviator?

The pendulum has swung so far, so hard to the extreme left, it's about to break off. It's time that common sense and
sanity were restored to the U.S. Armed Forces!

Lehman Rocks Navy with Complaints About Political Correctness

The Navy’s former top civilian has rocked the service in a military journal article by accusing officials of sinking the
storied naval air branch into a sea of political correctness.

Former Navy Secretary John Lehman, himself a former carrier-based aviator, wrote that the swagger and daring of
yesterday’s culture has given way to a focus on integrating women and, this year, gays.
Pilots constantly worry about anonymous complaints about salty language, while squadron commanders are awash
in bureaucratic requirements for reports and statistics, he added.

“Those attributes of naval aviators — willingness to take intelligent calculated risk, self-confidence, even a certain
swagger — that are invaluable in wartime are the very ones that make them particularly vulnerable in today’s zero-
tolerance Navy,” said Mr. Lehman, who led the Navy in the Reagan administration.

“The political correctness thought police, like Inspector Javert in ‘Les Miserables,’ are out to get them and are

Navy pilots have complained privately for years that a post-Tailhook Convention push to clean up conduct by aviators

The 1991 Las Vegas convention has stood as a black mark for the Navy because some naval aviators engaged in
lewd escapades and excessive drinking.

An ensuing Pentagon investigation ballooned into one of the government’s most extensive probes, as scores of
officers were targeted and had their careers shortened. Feminists used the scandal to demand a change in Navy

Now, Mr. Lehman, a New York investor who served as a bombardier navigator in A-6 Intruders, has aired in public
what active-duty pilots dare not say.

His lengthy article adorns the home page of the magazine Proceedings, a forum for active-duty and retired personnel
on naval issues. Proceedings is published by the U.S. Naval Institute, an independent association located at the
Naval Academy in Annapolis.

“Once standards of common sense were ignored in favor of political correctness, there were no limits to the spread of
its domination,” Mr. Lehman wrote.

“Not only have alcohol infractions anonymously reported on the hot line become career-enders, but suspicions of
sexual harassment, homophobia, telling of risque jokes, and speech likely to offend favored groups all find their way
into fitness reports.

“And if actual hot-line investigations are then launched, that is usually the end of a career, regardless of the outcome.
There is now zero tolerance for any missteps in these areas.”

The Lehman broadside coincides with the celebrations this year at military bases across the country of the 100th
anniversary of naval aviation.

That celebration, too, got caught up this year in charges of political correctness. The foundation in charge of
anniversary events posted a history online that emphasized women and minority advancement in naval air.

It virtually ignored the major air battles of World War II and Vietnam, where the role of aircraft-carrier operations
gained prominence. A number of retired aviators protested, prompting the foundation to pull the presentation and
write a new one.

Then there was the case of Capt. Owen Honors. The Navy fired him as commanding officer of the carrier USS
Enterprise, after onboard raunchy videos he produced in 2006 and 2007 as morale boosters became public. Again,
the Navy’s critics leveled charges of political correctness.

Also this year, some aviators circulated a rogue uniform patch depicting the naval aviation culture as dead.

The Lehman article has stirred emotions on both sides of the debate.

A spokesman for Naval Air Forces Atlantic in Norfolk, Va., declined to comment, but the Navy is pushing back.

At the Tailhook Association’s annual convention in Reno, Nev., this month, some active-duty admirals expressed their
displeasure with Mr. Lehman’s allegations, according to a retired flier who attended.

Some current aviators are defending the Navy’s “officer-and-a-gentleman” push.

Lt. Christopher “Chandler” Moran, who identified himself as an eight-year naval aviator, posted a comment on
Proceedings vouching for the current culture.

“Yes, perhaps we have some training that seems like a waste of time, but I’m not sure what exactly is wrong with
being respectful of people who weren’t previously allowed into the community,” Lt. Moran wrote.

May 2nd, 2011 was the quadracentennial (400-year) anniversary of the first publication of the King James Version
of the Holy Bible. This should be a year of tolerance toward those who believe the Holy Bible to be the word of God,
but apparently that sort of tolerance is too much for the city officials in San Juan Capistrano, California.

Apparently, some hateful, anti-Christian neighbors informed on the Bible-reading Christian family, and their guests, to
the Gestapo (San Juan Capistrano City), and the NAZIs have now fined a couple FOR HOLDING A PRIVATE BIBLE

The NAZIs persecuted Jews this way long before they began to massacre them by the millions. Josef Stalin's Soviet
Union likewise persecuted Christians, Jews, and others for daring to exercise their religion. Mao's China did from day
one, and Communist China still persecutes Christians and other religions to this day. Now the California city of San
Juan Capistrano is taking baby steps toward joining this satanic group of religious oppressors

Rather than the Gestapo, this time, it's the radical American left encouraging neighbors to spy on neighbors, and to
turn them in, for daring to worship God according to the dictates of their own conscience. And what does the
Constitution of the United States of America have to say about this sort of thing? Let's take a look:

or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition
the Government for a redress of grievances.

It seems pretty clear to me! Our Founding Fathers wrote that sentence in such a way as to remove any possible
reasonable doubt. Religious freedom is the ultimate law of the land, and its supremacy is absolute. Religious freedom
is one of the bedrock natural-law rights enshrined into the Constitution, and it MUST BE DEFENDED!

Personally, my Church is as embracing of the natural-law right of the freedom to freely exercise one's religion as the
Bill of Rights, and is likewise crystal-clear on the matter of religious freedom:

men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

All reasonable Christian denominations feel the same way about religious freedom. Christians heartily embrace
religious freedom, for we have all been oppressed, at one time or another.

California City Fines Couple for Private Bible Study In
Their Home

   A southern California couple has been fined $300 dollars for holding Christian Bible study sessions in their
home, and could face another $500 for each additional gathering.

City officials in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. say Chuck and Stephanie Fromm are in violation of municipal code 9-
3.301, which prohibits “religious, fraternal or non-profit” organizations in residential neighborhoods without a permit.
Stephanie hosts a Wednesday Bible study that draws about 20 attendees, and Chuck holds a Sunday service that
gets about 50.

The Fromms appealed their citations but were denied and warned future sessions would carry heftier penalties. A
statement from the Pacific Justice Institute, which is defending the couple in a lawsuit against the city, said Chuck
Fromm was also told regular gatherings of three or more people require a conditional use permit, which can be costly
and difficult to obtain.

“How dare they tell us we can’t have whatever we want in our home,” Stephanie Fromm told the Capistrano Dispatch.
“We want to be able to use our home. We’ve paid a lot and invested a lot in our home and backyard … I should be
able to be hospitable in my home.”

According to the Dispatch, the Fromms live in a neighborhood with large homes and have a corral, barn, pool and
huge back lawn on their property, so parking and noise aren’t a problem.

“There’s no singing or music,” Stephanie said. “It’s meditative.”

The Dispatch reported a code-enforcement officer gave the Fromms a verbal warning about the meetings in May,
then returned to issue citations in June and July. According to the paper, the city’s code-enforcement department is
reactive, meaning they only respond to complaints.
Stephanie said most of their neighbors are very supportive, although she said one has voiced concerns in the past.

“We don’t like lawsuits, but we have to stand up for what’s right. It’s not just a personal issue,” she said. “Can you
imagine anybody in any neighborhood, that one person can call and make it a living hell for someone else? That’s
wrong … and it’s just sad.”

San Juan Capistrano’s religious roots run deep — the city is best known for a historic Catholic mission built in the

“Imposing a heavy-handed permit requirement on a home Bible study is outrageous,” said Brad Dacus, president of
the Pacific Justice Institute. “An informal gathering in a home cannot be treated with suspicion by the government, or
worse than any other gathering of friends, just because it is religious.”

“We cannot allow this to happen in America, and we will fight as long and as hard as it takes to restore this group’s
religious freedom.”

As the debates continue, on stage with the top tier of GOP presidential contenders is an 800-pound gorilla that
nobody wants even to acknowledge.

But as candidates prepared for last week's CNN-Tea Party GOP debate in Tampa, Fla., it was the star of the show
as a plane soared overhead trailing a banner demanding, "Where's the Real Birth Certificate?"

The question was being posed by, which has posted billboards around the country for months now
asking about Barack Obama's birth documentation – and his resulting eligibility under the U.S. Constitution to occupy
the Oval Office.

Just weeks earlier, a billboard went up in Des Moines, Iowa, questioning the very legitimacy of the current occupant
of the White House even as Iowa GOP members converged on the college city of Ames to cast straw poll ballots.
The aerial billboard last Monday was part of a new campaign organized by WND Editor and Chief Executive Officer
Joseph Farah to draw attention to Obama's constitutional eligibility problems.

It immediately got the attention of the Miami Herald, which wrote, "Jobs, schmobs. The WorldNetDaily website,
which hypes the Obama-is-not-a-US-citizen line, is flying a banner around the site of the CNN Republican
presidential debate to keep the story alive: Where is the real birth certificate?"

The flight departed from Albert Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg and spent several hours over the booked-to-capacity
region of hotels, commuters and debate events at the Florida Fairgrounds in Tampa as well as in St. Petersburg and
other nearby areas.

The flying banner question was available to audiences as far as Clearwater Beach, organizers said.

"Countless document experts have now made the persuasive case that the birth certificate released by Obama is
fraudulent – a case that has been well-chronicled in WND," said Farah. "No other media outlet has bothered to
examine the document or question its authenticity. Neither have they found any experts willing to suggest the birth
certificate is valid. That's why I am taking this case directly to the American people," he said.

Farah launched the famous "Where's the Birth Certificate?" billboard campaign in May of 2009. At the time, only a
very small percentage of Americans were even aware of the eligibility questions surrounding Obama. More than 90
billboards were placed nationwide throughout the course of the campaign. Within six months of its launch, polls
showed most Americans were aware of the controversy. Six months later, most Americans doubted Obama's

In April of this year, when Jerome Corsi's book of the same title – "Where's the Birth Certificate?" – hit No. 1 on the
Amazon best-seller's list, the White House realized it could no longer stonewall the issue. One week later, the so-
called "long-form birth certificate" was posted on the White House website. Media outlets quickly accepted the
document as genuine without examination, analysis or question. But WND has since produced a shocking series of
reports that point in the direction of fabrication.

"I promised a long time ago that this issue would follow Obama through the 2012 campaign," said Farah.
"This is the realization of that promise."

The reference to the 800-pound gorilla came from a woman attending a meeting with U.S. Rep. Dan Lungren. She
asked when "are we going to address the 800-pound gorilla in the room that everything this man in the office does is

The question is raised because the U.S. Constitution allows only a "natural born Citizen" to be a president, and that
was largely understood when it was written to be the offspring of two citizen parents born on the nation's soil. There
remain many questions about Obama's purported Hawaiian birth, and some say the constitutional requirement
precludes even an Obama as president even if he proves a Hawaiian birth, as his father never was a citizen.

Obama Yields to Democratic Pressure on Medicare
President Obama has tried for months to convince critics on the left that entitlement programs such as Medicare had
to be cut in order to save the programs, but he seems to have yielded under pressure from his political base.

In his new $1.5 trillion deficit-cutting plan, unveiled Monday at the White House, Obama backed away from the
changes he had been talking about for months.

“With an aging population and rising health care costs, we are spending too fast to sustain the program,” he said.
“And if we don’t gradually reform the system while protecting current beneficiaries, it won’t be there when future
retirees need it. We have to reform Medicare to strengthen it.”

But after that speech, several Democratic groups and lawmakers sent letters, held news conferences and even
staged protests, including one Monday in front of the White House by activists challenging the idea of any cuts in
Medicaid benefits.

The president seems to have heard the objections. In his Rose Garden speech Monday, he proposed only half as
much in savings as he did in debt talks this summer, offering $320 billion in changes instead of $650 billion, and he
took a very different tone:

“We will reform Medicare and Medicaid, but we will not abandon the fundamental commitment that this country has
kept for generations,” he said.

...but where will it end?
If you pay attention to the news for at least a few minutes a day, you're probably aware the White House is trying
desperately to escape a pit of quick sand in the form of Solyndra and LightSquared. From all appearances there are
some serious conflicts of interests, including campaign cash and hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars, involved in
a government loan to companies now under water financially. In this particular case, Solyndra and LightSquared.
To date the White House has insisted this is nothing out-of-the-ordinary. For this administration that is probably true.
But business as usual for Obama's administration doesn't mean corruption isn't at play, nor does it mean nothing
illegal is happening.

1 in 4 Dems Want to Dump Obama
A new poll by CNN and ORC International finds that 27 percent of Democrats would like to see their party
nominate a candidate other than Barack Obama for president in 2012.

In response to the question, “Do you think the Democratic party should renominate Barack Obama as the
party’s candidate for president in 2012, or do you think the Democratic party should nominate a different
candidate for president in 2012?” — 72 percent said they wanted to see Obama renominated. But 27
percent, slightly more than one in every four, said they wanted to see Democrats nominate a different
candidate. One percent had no opinion.

Whether those disaffected Democrats will come around to supporting Obama next year is an open
question — and perhaps the most worrying of the president’s re-election bid.

Senate quietly approves $500B increase in borrowing
The action came under an unusual legislative procedure spelled out under the August agreement to raise
the U.S. debt ceiling and avoid a U.S. credit default. In a 52-45 vote, the Senate blocked an attempt by
Republicans to slow down the process that will result in the $500 billion debt-ceiling increase.

The increase stems from a deal between Congress and the White House, finalized last month, that spells
out how the borrowing limit would be increased by $500 billion. Under the process, lawmakers in both the
House and Senate must vote on a resolution of disapproval against the increase in the borrowing limit.
President Barack Obama would then have to veto the resolution of disapproval, and Congress would
then vote to try and override that veto.

The complicated procedure, designed by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.), would allow
an increase of the borrowing limit while allowing most Republicans to vote against such an increase.

There was a twist in this scenario Thursday evening, however. Democrats held firm, rejecting the
resolution of disapproval, thereby speeding the process and increasing the borrowing limit immediately.

Quite candidly the pipeline should have been under final construction by now, were it not for the EPA delaying the
process despite the State Department issuing an Environmental Impact Statement speaking favorably for the project.
Delays have done nothing but harm U.S. energy development and, in turn, U.S. consumers.

Let’s face it – either we approve it and reap the benefits, or the oil is sold to other countries.

Foo Fighters Counter-Protest Westboro Baptist

In preparation for the protests, the Foo Fighters rented a large flatbed truck and purchased fake moustaches. Then,

without warning, they pulled up in front of the protesters, played “Keep It Clean”, delivered a speech about condoning

Taxpayer Monies Illegally Funding ACORN Affiliate

In 2010, a federal law was passed making it illegal to use taxpayer monies to fund the Association of Community

Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) or any organization with ties to ACORN. Yet this August, the Department of

Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded Affordable Housing Centers of America (AHCOA) a $300,000


AHCOA was previously named Acorn Housing Corporation and still occupies the same Chicago office and address.

They are also using the same Data Universal Number System (DUNS) number to apply for and receive taxpayer

funded grants. DUNS numbers are unique to specific organizations and location. For AHCOA to be legally using the

same DUNS code, it legally has to be the same organization.

However, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) ruled that AHCOA separated itself from ACORN and that

under the law is no longer considered to be an affiliate or allied with ACORN and therefore can legally apply for and

receive taxpayer monies.

According to the executive director or the Freedom Through Justice Foundation, Dan Epstein, the GAO’s
interpretation of the law is ‘twisted’, saying:

“The recent grant of $300,000 of taxpayer dollars to the Affordable Housing Centers of America reflects the degree to

which the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has ignored the will of the Congress and the people it

represents to stop wasting federal funds on organizations which have a history of mismanagement and fraud,

ACORN, its affiliates and subsidiaries, represent the kind of fraud that put all Americans in this economic recession in

the first place.”

Realizing that AHCOA is a Chicago based organization and Chicago being the home of one Barrack H. Obama, it’s no

surprise that the current administration would try to find a way to divert taxpayer money to AHCOA. ACORN officials
and their affiliates have not only been involved with fraud, but they have always been strong supporters of Obama and

he still has ties with them.
Chicago politics has had a long history of corruption and graft. It seems that history is repeating itself only this time

the corruption and graft extends all the way to the White House.

Obama Unveils Deficit Plan Containing $1.5T in Tax Hikes

WASHINGTON – President Obama, drawing immediate condemnation from congressional Republicans,
unveiled a new deficit reduction plan Monday anchored by $1.5 trillion in new taxes, including an end to
Bush-era rates for upper income earners making $250,000 or more and additional taxes on millionaires.

Keying in on a populist message that millionaires and billionaires should pay more in taxes than their
secretaries, the president announced a plan in the Rose Garden that includes more than $2 trillion total in
entitlement cuts and tax increases over the next decade.

Let’s Party Like It’s 1917
The DNC’s logo for the 2012 convention struck me, when it first came out, as “Soviet chic”, a trendy style that’s been making its
way around leftist protests from Wisconsin to Washington.

With Barack Obama’s class warfare speech yesterday, it seems the President’s 2012 campaign theme will be to party like its
1917. In a speech right out of a European socialist’s playbook, Barack Obama kept referring to basic fairness when demanding
job creators pay more in taxes. Consider Obama’s online mouthpiece, Think Progress, rushing to his defense by, in essense,
saying Obama’s plan isn’t class warfare because it does not go as far as the Communist Party of Great Britain in 1929.

You actually should read the Think Progress post because actually what the writer claims is “strikingly different from a modern
progressive agenda” is actually pretty darn similar, including an income tax to confiscate capital income — something Obama’s
Buffett tax seems to do.

In any event, what Barack Obama nor any other leftist can answer is one simple question — when the top 1% generate 20% of
the income and pay 40% of the taxes in this country, what exactly is their fair share?

But now it gets even worse. Yesterday I told you Obama wants to use General Motors as a distraction from Solyndra. Today it
appears he is using Warren Buffett to distract us from raiding banks to line General Motors’ pockets, or at least the government’s
because of the GM bailout.

In Barack Obama’s deficit plan, he intends to raid American banks to make up the losses from the auto bailout. There’s just one
problem. While hiding behind TARP to justify this raid, with costs that will be passed on to consumers, Obama is punishing the
most successful banks putting them in a position to fail. At the same time, the Dodd-Frank bill guarantees no bank is too big to
fail, so he is creating another bank bailout situation.

Basically, the President wants to raise fees on banks with more than $50 billion in assets, i.e. the most successful banks. The
weak banks that benefitted the most from TARP will not actually be the ones to cover the auto bailout’s losses. The rich banks
that needed the least help will shell out to cover the auto bailout and then find themselves among the ranks of weak banks.

It’s not just individual wealth redistribution the President is championing here. He’s picking winners and losers in the free market
and ensuring that some of the winners he does not like are forced to become losers. It’s corporate wealth redistribution to
corporations the President picks.

Considering both the inflation the American people are experiencing and the taxation Barack Obama wants to impose, you’d be
forgiven for thinking he said “The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.”
Of course, that was Vladimir Lenin. Too inflammatory for you? Just go back to Think Progress and consider, in their claims that
Obama’s position is too mild to be considered class warfare, just how similar Barack Obama’s new tax schemes are to the
Communist Party of Great Britain in 1929 — complete with a “graduated income tax to confiscate capital income”, i.e. a
necessary component of any surtax on millionaires just for the sake of taxing millionaires.
