Comments: Information meetings have continued throughout the day and into this evening in the local communities; Labertouche, Bunyip,
          Tonimbuk, Drouin and Longwarry.
          Good attendance numbers at meetings; inexcess of 300 per meeting.
          Response planning for the extreme fire weather tomorrow has now been finalised.
          All agency briefing including MEROs, MERCs, DERCs, DHS, AusNet was held at the ICC at 2pm today.

          Fire has breached the eastern sector and is currently 800mtrs wide and slowly backing down to the creek (SV6699 J6).

Comments: Helitak & Air Cranes continuing to attack breach on east sector.
          This strategy is slowing the fire whilst a line of retardant is continuing to be dropped as a fall back control line.
          DSE crews (slip on) will commence an attack on the fire from the north shortly.
          Embers are likely to spread the fire to the east side of the aqueduct (Tea Tree Rd) if the wind continues to increase.
          ICC is experiencing IT network connection issues (connection is down). IT are working to resolve the issue ASAP.

Comments: Significant size spot fires impacting on Longwarry North, Robin Hood, Drouin.
          Helitaks working on spots, however fires are far too big for aircraft to pull up without ground crews.Good asset protection being
          preformed between in Labertouche, Bunyip, Robin Hood, Jindivik and Tonimbuk. Assets being impacted upon. Not able to
          confirm asset losses, however reports from Ground Observers are that losses are occurring in the above communities. CFA

Comments: From IC Hardman (DSE - ICC Noojee) DSE crews are working on Western flank in Gembrook area. Easterly winds are

Comments: Current Situation from ICC Noojee. Estimated fire area 25000 ha with public land perimeter of 65km. The NW and NE corners
          of the fire are the main concern due to the prevailing southerly air flow. Back burning by DSE and CFA crews is being
          conducted overnight on NW corner. CFA crews are continuing to blackout in the Longwarry division. CFA commitment for
          tonight is Div Comm and 2 Strike Teams.

Comments: A number of outbreaks occurred on both the NE and NW corners of the fire during Tuesday. Fire activity was extremely high
          considering weather conditions.
          Situation for Wednesday will be as follows:

Comments: Today crews are brushing up and preparing containment lines in preparation for back burning in the Moomba/Tonimbuk sector

Comments: As per IAP work is continuing on night shift to secure the east and west flanks. On the eastern edge the crews are continuing

 Comments: I/C Andy Gilham (DSE) advised that after 30-40mm of rainfall over the fireground, as from 1400hrs this afternoon the status of
           the fire has changed to UC-1. A FLIR flight has been booked for tomorrow to check again for hotspots. 95% of fire
           suppressionrehab is now completed in freehold land. Expect another 2 days work for all rehabilitation work to be completed in

The fire area has been determined as 25,500 Hectares with 161Km in perimeter as a result of mapping conducted on the 15/02. The fire has
not increased since that time.

Losses include 11 houses , 6 caravans, 50+ sheds 1 factory, 1 green houseThere is roughly 12 kms left to track of the fire edge. Some of
this work is to be constructed with hand crews and rakehoe trails.

TFS are working in the IMT as well as a team of slip ons on the fire line. IMT seem to be a very professional and competent team, led by
Gavin Freeman


LONGWARRY DIVISION (southern fire edge)- Day shift 2 strike teams during the day (them being 9181 and 9381, manned by 1101 and
1102 personnel) knocking down hot spots and working with land owners as to the best form of controling fire edge agreed upon. Ther are 2
tic tems working on the Division assisting in locating and marking areas of concern.
9381 with local crews operating for limited time during night shifts.

NOOJEE DIVISION is a slip on patrrolling DSE fires Nnumbered 10,14,18 and 19. Fires are contained and safe.

NORTH EAST DIVISION 9 slip ons spread over the 3 sectors of the division, with a number of plant from a D7 to a D$ constructing control
lines clse as possible to the fire edge with minimal burning out required.

NORTH WEST DIVISION They are continuing a backburn tonight along Chancellor spur Tk and Bunyip Rd to link to the Head Creeek Tk. A
large number of resources in this Division including ST 0844 on a swing shift tonight till 0200 hours.

Weather conditions are too dangerous for crews to be online especially due to the windy conditions. Crews are strategically place for
emergency response. A flare up in the Limberlost Sector has seen the fire breach control lines. Air attack in progress

Limberlost Sector

No ground crews online due to dangerous weather conditions. Fire activity at Seven Acre Rock has breached control lines at grid reference
CU895032. Area of approximately 2 hectares.

Two smokes are also present to the north and south of Blackbutt Creek.

One tree burning close to the control line at the end of Mcintyre rd.

All these will be worked on by three medium and two heavy helicopters.

All other sectors have no activity at present time.

Many of the roads and dozer trails will be very slippery and may be untrafficable until they dry out.

Work is currently underway on completion of rehabilitation/recovery field assessment sheets and hazardous tree assessment sheets.

Cultural Heritage assessments are taking place across the fire

The fire was declared contained on Wednesday 4 March pm.

FLIR flight conducted today - 67 hot spots detected

INCIDENT OBJECTIVE(S):

1.nFire to be (Under Control - 1), by Saturday 14/03/2008 - 1800 hrs
2.nCrews to continue to patrol and blackout - paying close attention to hot spots within 50m of fire edge. Mark hot spots, with pink tape and
record a GPS reference or note a location if you believe them to still be a problem.
3.• Rehabilitation works to continue :
a.DCrews to map fire edge and control lines that require rehabilitation.
b.DDangerous trees to be assessed to minimise public risk. Removal program to progress
c.DStrategic access roads to be cleared and opened
d.DHigh risk soil stabilisation works to be completed

Current Situation:

Rehabilitation works of mineral earth breaks are being undertaken in the Lonwarry Division of the fire. as of 16:00 16/03/09 approximately
90% of the works have been completed and it is expected to be completed by close of buisness on the 18/03/09.

The works comprise of Graders moving the displaced soil & grasses back on to the bare earth breaks and then being followed up by a power
harrow to break up the clumps of soil & grass, to return the breaks to as near as possible to their pre fire state.
