  SHAPE MEMORY ALLOY
A shape memory alloy (SMA, smart metal, memory metal,
   memory alloy, muscle wire, smart alloy) is an alloy that
   "remembers" its original, cold, forged shape, and which
   returns to that shape after being deformed, sometimes by
   applying heat. Shape memory alloys have applications in
   industries including medical and aerospace.
Some examples of applications are:
 Eyeglass Frames
 Bra Under wires
 Medical Tools
 Cellular Phone Antennae
 Orthodontic Arches


There are still some difficulties with shape memory alloys
   that must be overcome before they can live up to their full
   potential. These alloys are still relatively expensive to
   manufacture and machine compared to other materials
   such as steel and aluminium. Most SMA's have poor
   fatigue properties; this means that while under the same
   loading conditions (i.e. twisting, bending, compressing) a

THERMOCHROMIC PIGMENT
Thermochromism is the ability of substance to change
   colour due to a change in temperature. A mood ring is
   an excellent example of this, but it has many other
   uses such as baby bottles (changes to a different
   colour when cool enough to drink) and kettles.
A good example of the use of thermochromic paint is in
   the wallpaper with green plants that start blossom as
   soon as your room heater turns on, spreading
   wonderful roses all over your wall like magic.

Thermochromic paint enables amazing effect and can be
   used in various applications such as wearable textiles
   and everyday accessories.
  AN EXAMPLE
This Fabrication Bag was created by Linda
   Worbin, a designer who was attracted by
   interactive textiles, thermochromic paint,
   low-power consuming LED lights and
   electroluminescent wires.
   Embedded in this bag we find
   thermochromic paint and conductive yarn on
   the back that brings the bag to live, enabling
   cool color patterns, just like in the image.
   If you keep your cell phone inside the bag,
   as you receive a call, the vibration signals
   enable dynamic textile patterns on the bag’s
   exterior so you’ll know someone tries to
   reach you. This offers you the possibility to
   choose if to answer right away or call back
   later.
THERMOCHROMIC SHEET
Thermochromic sheet is the trapping of
  thermochromic pigment in a sheet. By
  varying the pigments it s possible to make
  the sheet react to specific temperatures,
  such as with the fridge thermometer.

PHOTOCHROMIC PIGMENT
These are pigments that changes
  colour according to lighting
  conditions. In sunlight or UV the
  pigment changes colour
  immediately and dramatically.

It can be mixed with ordinary
    acrylic media to make a
    photochromic paint. There are
    many low-cost applications for
    design and technology - e.g, UV
    warning badges, security
    marking, advertising etc.

POLYMORPH




At room temperature Polymorph is just as
    strong as a normal plastic but at 62
    degrees C becomes soft and
    mouldable. It can be heated easily and
    quickly either with hot water or
    hairdryer. Polymorph can be
    coloured/dyed using our food-grade
    colourings.
