Doughnuts for Dads—Jan. 19, 2012
Ms. Amanda’s PreK 3 Class
Pre-K3 had so much fun watching the Storybook Theatre of Texas!! We are
looking forward to them coming back in April.
Ms. Stacey’s PreK 4 Class
Ms. Stacey’s PK4 class has been so busy! Our dads came to visit for doughnuts,
Storybook Theatre came to present Goldifox and the 2 Hares, and we have been
using our teddy bears to learn all about sorting, estimating and graphing.
Lions and tigers and bears… Oh My!
Kindergarten just finished a three week unit on animals. We discussed
several topics, such as: animals are created by God, animals are living things,
animals live in different habitats, animals’ bodies have different kinds of
coverings, animals find and eat food in different ways and animals grow and
change. Throughout the unit, kindergartners were introduced to several
non-fiction books, animal fables, visited the science lab and welcomed live
animals from Region 20 into the classroom! As a culminating event, each child
picked an animal to research. The children were introduced to a basic
research process and their reports really showcased what they learned during
the animal unit. We had a WILD time learning about animals!
Ms. Stacie's PreK Class
This month we have been busy learning about Winter
and Arctic Animals! We made SNOW and had fun learning
about penguins! In science we predicted if an iceberg would
sink or float and learn that water can be a solid or a liquid. Dur-
ing the freeze & melt experiment, the children used their senses
to gather information, make observations, communicate
ideas, make comparisons and discuss cause and effect. Also
this semester the PreK children are introduced to sight words.
It's so much fun to watch the children love to learn!
Ms. Yvette’s PreK Class
We have been having so much fun
learning in Ms. Yvette’s pre-k class! We have been
learning about winter and arctic animals. The chil-
dren have not only been having fun with art pro-
jects such as our marshmallow snowmen, but also
with science experiments using ice.
Ms. Carrie’s PreK Class
Ms. Carrie’s Pre-K class is getting ready
for the Gala auction! Janay Vorpahl and
Cecily Walker took handprints for the
awesome quilt that Janay will be making.
The children had the challenge of mak-
ing their names fit inside a box. They
did a super job!
