Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Community Resources and Development, Arizona
State University

The School of Community Resources and Development invites applications for the position of
Clinical Assistant Professor. This is a non-tenure track 12-month appointment. The faculty
member will oversee internships and teach in the undergraduate programs of Nonprofit
Leadership and Management, Parks and Recreation Management, and Tourism Development
and Management. These programs have professional requirements that are administered
through courses such as: Community Services and Professions; Leadership and Professional
Development; and Senior Internship, a capstone 12-credit culminating experience. All three of
the undergraduate programs deliver in-person and online coursework through the Downtown
Phoenix campus.

Responsibilities include teaching professional development classes, supervision of interns, and
service to the School. Teaching may be face-to-face, online or a combination of those formats.
The position requires:
     Collaboration with other faculty and student services staff to assess program
        effectiveness;
     Continuous improvement of courses;
     Full participation in program assessment and accreditation activities;
     Relationship building with community partners;
     Summer teaching, preferably starting summer 2012;
     Remain current with national curriculum guidelines in each area.

Required Qualifications:
    Master’s degree in Nonprofit, Parks, Recreation, Tourism, or Event Management or
       related field;
    Minimum of five years professional experience focused on any of the School’s fields of
       study;
    Demonstrated evidence of current theoretical knowledge in professional development;
    Demonstrated evidence of community partnership building;
    Demonstrated ability to teach effectively online and in the classroom;
    Demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse populations.

      Earned doctorate in tourism, recreation, leisure studies, nonprofit management, or a
       closely related field from an accredited institution;
      Demonstrated prior experience in university level teaching.

The Leadership Studies Program encourages applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor. This
nine-month, full-time, non-tenure track, position is available beginning fall, 2012 for the
academic year 2012-2013 and may be continued, contingent upon satisfactory performance

Leadership Studies is an interdisciplinary program in the University College that offers BS and
MA degrees along with undergraduate and graduate certificates. A variety of courses are
offered at both levels which include specialized topics in the diverse areas related to leadership
and to multiple academic disciplines. The successful candidate will be expected to teach
introductory classes in leadership at undergraduate and graduate levels and other topical
leadership classes such as those focused in ethics, teams, change, and globalization,

Mind and Body for leadership in service to humanity”, the college seeks a teacher who is highly
motivated and dedicated to helping students achieve.

Responsibilities will include teaching in the Recreation and Therapeutic Recreation programs,
supervising internships and student research. Additional responsibilities include advising
undergraduate and graduate students, scholarly, creative and/or professional activities, service
within and beyond the college and other duties assigned by the Department Chair.

The University of Kentucky is seeking candidates for a Lecturer, non-tenure track position in the
Hospitality Management and Tourism (HMT) program. This is a 9-month position in the
Department of Merchandising, Apparel & Textiles (MAT). The initial appointment is for a three-
year term (subject to extension) beginning in August, 2012. The HMT program has a dynamic,
team-oriented faculty and students that are focused on making an impact in the hospitality and
tourism industry.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses and advise
undergraduate students in the HMT program. Lecturers are members of the Faculty and should
take responsibility for infusing diversity, scholarship and state of the art issues into the
curriculum. The position is expected to contribute to student learning in variety of areas
including but not limited to: Tourism & Travel, Hotel Management, Foodservice Management
and Meetings & Event Management in addition to advising students. A typical full-time teaching
assignment is 12 credit hours per semester, but advising and, perhaps, other assignments may
substitute for some instructional load. The specific teaching and advising assignment is
dependent on departmental needs and individual expertise.
Qualifications: An earned doctorate completed on or before May 15, 2012 in Hospitality,
Tourism, Food Service Management, Business or a closely related area is required. In addition
to a doctorate degree, the candidate must demonstrate success in a management position in
the hospitality industry, and the ability to work as part of a team. University teaching
experience and use of technology in teaching are preferred. Applicants must have proof of legal
authority to permanently work in the US.

The Department and University: The Department of MAT is engaged in an exciting
reorganization process that provides an opportunity for a lecturer to contribute to a
department that is viewed by the College as an important growth area. As part of this
reorganization, the undergraduate program in HMT is being moved from the Department of
Nutrition and Food Science to the Department of MAT. The Department is also proposing a new
name, “Retail and Tourism Management” as part of this restructuring. The Department of MAT
is one of three units in the School of Human Environmental Sciences within the College of
Agriculture. There are currently 130 undergraduates majoring in HMT and 176 students in MAT.
