               What is Dual Polarization
       Dual Polarization is an add on to our
       existing WSR-88D Doppler Radar that will
       allow for transmission of a beam in both
       the horizontal and vertical.

        precipitation amounts from the radar, and
        increase accuracy of flood warnings

        Can better identify precipitation type,
        including hail, and snow crystal size,
        allowing for more accurate severe
        thunderstorm warnings and snowfall
        accumulation estimates
