NEWS RELEASE AVAILABLE ON 4-H/FFA COMMEMORATIVE KNIFE
The news release below was sent by Chris Villines, Tennessee Farmers Cooperative communications
specialist. The release is suitable for submission to local news media. If submitting to a newspaper, a
local picture, including a 4-H member and the Co-op manager, would be a great enhancement. Please
check with your local Co-op before submitting the news release to be sure they are participating in the
promotion. Proceeds of the knife sale given to 4-H will be used to sponsor several state 4-H events and
activities with which TFC has a long history of support. The news release is available on the Tennessee
4-H Web site at http://4h.tennessee.edu/ideas11/attach/knife.
Tennessee’s 4-H, FFA groups to again benefit from knife sales
For Immediate Release: Co-op's long-standing support of 4-H and FFA continues with the 2011
edition of our highly successful commemorative knife program, which was first introduced in
2001. Demand continues to be strong for the knives, and this year should prove no exception.
Sponsored in cooperation with W.R. Case and Sons Cutlery, this year's commemorative Case
knife is a popular two-blade red bone peach seed jig handle trapper that was formerly known as
the "farmers knife." It features the Co-op and Case logos printed on one blade and the banner
"Support 4-H and FFA" on the other. Like last year, the date (2011) will be scrolled on the
bolster. The knife packaging will feature the 40th anniversary of Livestock Expo.
The knife will be promoted with a retail price of $49.99. In 2011, $10 per knife will be donated
to 4-H and FFA, split equally between the two organizations.
