2. OFFICIAL PLAYOFF WATER POLO BALL
Kap7 International has entered into an agreement with the San Diego Section. Kap7 International is providing all the
section playoff water polo balls and will be the Official Water Polo Ball for the 2010 San Diego CIF Boys’ Water Polo
Playoffs. REMINDER: Ensure any water polo ball used in CIF competition has the NFHS authentication mark.
3. QUALIFYING
The San Diego CIF Boys’ Water Polo playoffs will consist of three divisions (see attached). Division I = 12 teams, Division
II = 12 teams, and Division III =12 teams. The Commissioner’s Office will seed the top four teams (without regard to League
Champions) after input from the Water Polo Pairings Committee and will determine all draws. The Pairings Committee
Meeting will take place November 8, 5:30 p.m., Conference Room 505, San Diego County Office of Education. Please
complete, in its entirety, the Entry/Program Information Form (attached to coach’s/AD copy of this bulletin).
Submit copy to your league representative, and deliver copy in person to Room 504 at San Diego County Office of Education,
6401 Linda Vista Road, San Diego 92111 by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 8. Failure to do so will remove your team
for consideration in the playoffs.
Pairings will be posted/announced on November 8 at 7:30 p.m., Room 402 at San Diego County Office of Education. ALL
COACHES ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND TO FINALIZE GAME TIMES AND SITES - FAILURE TO ATTEND
OR SEND A SCHOOL REPRESENTATIVE WILL CAUSE FORFEITURE OF HOME SITE FOR FIRST ROUND
GAME.

NOTE: Dimensions of pool must meet NFHS Water Polo Rules Book standards.

6. SPECIAL PRESS CONFERENCE, Thursday, November 18, 2010, 11:30 a.m., for the four head coaches playing in
the finals at Coggan Pool, La Jolla High School. Site: Catalina Room, Marina Village. NOTE: Please make
arrangements with your school administration to attend!
Directions to Marina Village:
From Interstate 5: Take Sea World Drive exit. From Sea World Drive, take *West Mission Bay Drive, on your right.
When you see a large green sign that says Quivira Road, get in the farthest left of the two left turn lanes. Turn left, go one
very short black and turn left again. Drive about .4 mile and Marina Village will be on your right.
From Interstate 8: Take West Mission Bay Drive exit to the right. You will be on Ingraham for a short distance from which
you will take the next exit marked West Mission Bay Drive. Then follow directions above from the asterisk/underlined
portion.
7. OFFICIAL SCORER AND TIMER
The home team shall supply the official scorer for all first-round games and quarterfinals. As provided in the National
Federation Water Polo Rule Book, the visiting team shall provide an assistant scorer who shall be permitted to sit at the
Officials’ table.
8. ADMISSION
There are only two playoff ticket ranges – Adult - Defined as anyone over 18 years old and Student/Senior = Student defined
as anyone age 5 through age 18; Senior defined as anyone age 60 or over:

9. PLAYOFF PASS
The CIFSDS Playoff Pass for Boys’ Water Polo is on sale at the CIFSDS Office. One pass is $22.00; additional passes are
$18.00 (limit of 3).

10. PARTICIPANT PASSES
All teams will receive 24 participant passes (for coaches, field players, and goalies). Passes for quarterfinals through finals
available at the gate from Dick Draz, Tournament Director.
11. TICKETS
First Round: The home school will provide tickets, if admission is charged. (See Green Book, Article VII, CIFSD Polices
and Procedures for playoffs, pages 10-13.) Ticket Control Form and Guidelines are available on the CIFSDS web site at
www.cifsds.org - FORMS.
NOTE: Schools may use a Pass List for complimentary entry to the first round. Each school is allowed ten (10)
complimentary admissions. The visiting school will fax its pass list to the home school and to the CIFSDS Office. The home
school will fax its list to the CIFSDS Office. CIFSDS fax number is (858-292-1375).
Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals: CIFSDS will host quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals. Ten complimentary tickets
will be available to each participating school and may be obtained from the CIFSDS Office.
12. PASSES
No deviation from the following:
Permitted - CIFSDS Courtesy Cards, CIFSDS Media Passes, CIFSDS Playoff Passes, CIFSDS Life Passes, State CIF Life
Passes, and State CIF Passes.
Not Permitted - CIFSDS Boys’ and Girls’ Scouting Passes, league passes, district passes, faculty passes, officials’
association passes, college or university passes, etc.
13. CLEAN-UP
Each team shall be responsible for clean up of its own bench area immediately following the contest.
14. AWARDS - To be presented immediately following the championship game.

15. OFFICIALS
All game officials will be assigned by Bruce Morehouse, CIFSDS Water Polo Assignment Secretary. The home team will
pay officials for playoff games where admission is not charged, and they will be paid from gate receipts in contests where
admission is charged.

16. CHEERLEADERS
A maximum of 18 uniformed varsity cheerleaders, representing each of the two competing schools, will be admitted free of
charge to all CIFSDS playoff contests.
17. NON-FOOD CONCESSION
The non-food concession (T-shirts, sweatshirts, etc.) is available. Please contact the CIFSDS office at 858-292-8165 or
jbrewer@sdcoe.net.
18. PROGRAM CONCESSION
The 2010 program concession has been awarded to Rod Bowen at Santana High School. Coaches seeking entry into the
2010 playoffs, must complete and submit the Information Form (attached to the coach’s copy of this bulletin) along with
a team photo to Rod Bowen at bowenrod@bowenprinting.sdcoxmail.com or to CIFSDS at jbrewer@sdcoe.net.
19. SPIRIT SIGNS
All signs, posters, banners, etc., by each competing school are to be utilized for the purpose of promoting its own team rather
than downgrading its opponent. Therefore, no signs, banners, etc., will be permitted that refer to an opponent except in a
positive manner.

instructions on the form and fax or mail to San Diego Sports Publications ASAP.
22. PLAYOFF PARTICIPATION PATCHES
Playoff participation patches may be purchased for $8.00 each. Only written orders will be accepted - orders may either be
faxed 858-292-1375 or emailed choggard@sdcoe.net (Order form is attached to coach’s copy of this bulletin.). NOTE:
Orders will only be processed after submission of school PO or check for total amount of order.
23. RUNNER-UP PATCHES
