We thank these sponsors for their generous support of high school athletics. 2. OFFICIAL PLAYOFF VOLLEYBALL The Baden Ball Company has graciously entered into an agreement with the San Diego Section. Baden will be providing all the section playoff volleyballs and will be the Official Volleyball for the 2011 San Diego CIF Section Girls’ Volleyball Playoffs. Spalding is the official State CIF Championship volleyball. 3. QUALIFYING All schools that field 2011 varsity teams will be placed into Divisions I through V based upon October 2010 CBED enrollment figures in grades 9 through 12 (see attached). Divisional enrollment parameters have been determined by the State CIF. Two-thirds of the teams in each division (rounded up to the nearest whole number) shall be entered into the First Round of playoffs. League Champions (not Co-Champions or Tri-Champions) shall receive automatic entry. All other teams shall be selected at-large. Pairings will be established by the Commissioner’s Office at the pairing meeting to be held in the Conference Room, 505, at SDCOE on Saturday, November 5. On Saturday November 5 − pairings will be posted/announced at 12:00 noon at the CIFSDS office, the Baden volleyballs will be passed out to selected teams. ALL COACHES ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19 The San Diego CIF Girls’ Volleyball Championship contests will be conducted at Cathedral Catholic High School. Starting times will be: 9:30 a.m. - Division V; 11:45 p.m. - Division IV; 2:00 p.m. - Division III; 4:15 p.m. - Division II; and 6:30 p.m. - Division I. The home team is the higher seed. 5. SPECIAL PRESS CONFERENCE Thursday, November 17, 11:30 a.m., for head coaches playing in the finals. Site: Catalina Room, Marina Village. NOTE: Please make arrangements with your school administration to attend! Directions to Marina Village: From Interstate 5: Take Sea World Drive exit. From Sea World Drive, take *West Mission Bay Drive, on your right. When you see a large green sign that says Quivira Road, get in the farthest left of the two left turn lanes. Turn left, go one very short black and turn left again. Drive about .4 mile and Marina Village will be on your right. From Interstate 8: Take West Mission Bay Drive exit to the right. You will be on Ingraham for a short distance from which you will take the next exit marked West Mission Bay Drive. Then follow directions above from the asterisk/underlined portion. 6. PRE-GAME PROTOCOL AND WARM-UP PROCEDURES The following protocol and warm-up procedures may be conducted, as outlined below, at all San Diego CIF Semifinal and Championship matches. The Southern Regional and State Championship will follow a different protocol. (Refer to State CIF Advance Bulletin.) At 15 minutes prior to start of game, the serving team will take the court for six (6) minutes; then 2 at nine (9) minutes prior to start of game, the serving team will take the court for six (6) minutes. Three (3) minutes prior to start of game will begin introductions and anthem (march-in during championship games). 7. FORMAT The winner of each match shall be the team that wins the best three out of five games (Rally Scoring). 8. SCORER AND TIMER The home school shall provide the official scorer in each round except the Championships. As permitted by National Federation Volleyball Rules, the visiting team may maintain an assistant scorer who shall be seated on the outside of the official scorer (when provided by the home school) at the officials’ table. The visiting school shall provide the official timer (time-outs and time between games) for all matches except the Championships. The home school may provide an assistant timer who shall be seated at the officials’ table on the outside of the official timer (when provided by the visiting school). NOTE: PLEASE ADD THE POSITION OF TRACKER FOR THE LIBERO. 9. ADMISSION There are two playoff ticket ranges – Adult - Defined as anyone over 18 years old and Student/Senior = Student defined as anyone age 5 through age 18; Senior defined as anyone age 60 or over: Adults Student/Senior Pre-Semifinals $7 $4 Semifinals $9 $5 Finals $10 $6 10. PLAYOFF PASS The CIFSDS Playoff Pass for Girls’ Volleyball will be on sale at the CIFSDS Office. One pass is $22.00; additional passes are $18.00 (limit of 3). 11. OFFICIALS All pre-championship referees, umpires, and linespersons for the 2011 San Diego CIF Girls’ Volleyball Playoffs will be obtained and paid by the home school and assigned by Summer Vicknair and Don Biagi (Assignment Secretaries). In the event there are not sufficient numbers of officials to provide linespersons for a contest, the home school must provide linespersons, and one from each school is recommended. The names, addresses, and social security numbers for each linesperson must be submitted to the home school to enable them to be paid. The paid linesperson secured from either school cannot be members of the boys’ or girls’ volleyball teams (any level). Officials for the pre-championship rounds of playoffs shall be paid by the home school. Officials for Championship round of playoffs shall be paid by the CIFSDS Office. ACCOMMODATIONS FOR OFFICIALS Coaches and Athletic Directors are asked to continue their efforts to provide professional assistance to officials who work their games. This would include meeting the officials upon arrival and escorting them to their dressing area as well as escorting them off the floor at the contest’s conclusion. School personnel other than the head coach should be designated to stand by with a key to the official’s room, or the officials should be given a key. On-site staff should be aware of and observe the privacy of the officials’ locker room/dressing area. Thank you for your cooperation. 3 13. TICKETS First Round, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals The home school will provide tickets. (See Green Book, CIFSD Policies and Procedures Article VII, Playoffs, pages 10-13.) Ticket Control Form and Guidelines-Other Sports are available on the CIFSDS web site at www.cifsds.org – FORMS. REMINDER: Schools may use the CIFSDS Pass List for complimentary entry to first round, quarterfinal, and semifinal games. Form is available on the CIFSDS web site at www.cifsds.org - FORMS. Each school is allowed ten (10) complimentary admissions. The visiting school will fax its pass list to the home school and to the CIFSDS Office. The home school will fax its list to the CIFSDS Office. CIFSDS fax number is (858-292-1375). Finals – CIFSDS will host the finals. Ten (10) complimentary tickets will be available to each participating school and may be obtained from the CIFSDS Office. 14. GAME EXPENSE LIMITS Please refer to page 12-13 of the Green Book CIFSD Policies and Procedures Article VII, playoff expense. Playoff Report; Guidelines-Other Sports, and Supervision Form are available on CIFSDS web site at www.cifsds.org - FORMS. 15. PASSES No deviation shall be permitted for the following passes: Permitted - CIFSDS Courtesy Cards, CIFSDS Playoff Passes, CIFSDS Girls’ Volleyball Playoff Scouting Cards (except for Championships), CIFSDS Media Passes, and CIFSDS Life Passes, State CIF Courtesy Cards, and State CIF Life Passes. Not Permitted – Boys’ and Girls’ Scouting Cards, Boys’ and Girls’ Playoff Scouting Cards, league passes, district passes, faculty passes, officials’ association passes, college or university passes, etc. Bus drivers are not admitted without a ticket. NOTE: Three (3) Girls’ Volleyball Playoff Scouting Passes will be issued to each seeded team at the pairings announcement on November 5, 2011. Passes are valid first round through semifinals (not valid for finals). 16. CLEAN-UP Each team shall be responsible for the clean-up of its own bench area immediately following the contest. 17. AWARDS Team trophies will be awarded to the Championship and runner-up teams in Divisions I through V. Individual CIFSDS patches (17) will be given to members of the divisional championship team, and individual silver medals (17) will be given to members of the runner-up team in all five divisions. Awards will be presented immediately following the contest. 18. NOISEMAKERS No noisemakers (miniature megaphones, cowbells, air horns, blocks, whistles, cannons, drums, thundersticks, etc.) of any kind will be permitted at the site of any contest. Megaphones shall be used only by uniformed cheerleaders for the purpose of directing or controlling their own rooting sections. 19. CHEERLEADERS A maximum of 18 uniformed varsity cheerleaders representing each of the two competing schools will be admitted free of charge to all CIFSDS playoff contests. 20. NON-FOOD CONCESSION (T-SHIRTS, SWEATSHIRTS, ETC.) The non-food concession for the 2011 Girls’ Volleyball Championships has been awarded to Kukulski Bros. If you have special ordering needs, contact David Kukulski 480-921-1975. 21. 2011 PROGRAM CONCESSION The program concession has been awarded to Section Sports. SOUTHERN REGION AND STATE CIF GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS The 2011 San Diego CIF Divisional Champion and Runner-up in Divisions II, III, IV, and V will qualify for placement in the Southern California CIF Championships, in their respective division. The 2011 San Diego CIF Division I champion will be placed in the Southern California Division I Championship. Should it desire to do so, the Division I Runner-up will be submitted for at-large consideration. The first-round quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of the State CIF Volleyball Championships will be conducted in the southern geographical region on November 22, 26, and 29 for Divisions I through V. The State Championship in all divisions will be on Saturday, December 3, at Concordia University, Irvine.
