The Birth Center at Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital Delivers Family-Centered Care

women who come here are far from taking a vacation, they do truly appreciate the privacy that
such suites as The Birth Center at Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital offer. Here, women labor,
deliver and recover in one place, and are cared for by highly-skilled nurses and their physicians
or nurse-midwives. More than 2,400 babies are delivered each year at The Birth Center, where
women receive a family-centered approach to delivery.

“We believe the birth of your baby is an extraordinary event,” said Carolyn Jacques, Vice
President of Nursing at Centra. “We help you prepare for the birth of your baby by offering a
wealth of prenatal classes and tours of our facilities.”

In addition, Centra has added a free, weekly email newsletter to guide expecting couples through
pregnancy and the first year of their baby’s life. Sign up for this new service at for customized information, news and resources, as
well as announcements from Centra’s parent education staff. For access to hospital classes and
