Senior Director of Marketing, Microsoft Surface Computing
Mark Bolger joined Microsoft Surface Computing in September 2006 as director of marketing
and was quickly made the senior director of marketing. In this role, Bolger is responsible for
shaping and promoting the surface computing category at Microsoft Corp. and leading the
development of Microsoft Surface, Microsoft’s first surface computer.
Bolger is thrilled to have the opportunity to introduce this new way for people to interact with
digital content through surface computing devices. He sees working in this emerging category to
be a once-in-a-lifetime personal opportunity and a seismic shift for computer users.
Bolger previously worked for T-Mobile USA Inc., where he led the marketing of all-in-one
mobile phones and launched products used by millions of people, such as Microsoft Windows
Mobile-powered Smartphones and BlackBerry devices. Bolger also managed the launch of the
T-Mobile HotSpot @Home mobile VoIP phone and led the marketing of the T-Mobile HotSpot
Bolger has also held critical marketing roles at The Walt Disney Co., R.J. Reynolds and Bank
One’s First USA and co-founded Katalyst, a venture capital and consulting firm.
Bolger holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and finance and a master’s degree in marketing
from the University of Wisconsin.
