Kentucky Derby Tour 2010 Monday 26th April 2010 All guests will need to ensure they arrive into Louisville, Kentucky by this date. If you are flying in you will be met by our transport operators and transferred to your Hotel where you can spend your first night catching up on some sleep. (If you would like us to book your flights please indicate this on the bookings form) Hotel: The Galthouse Hotel & Suites The Galt House Hotel and Suites is one of the largest hotels in the Southeast. Surround yourself in upscale, boutique-style charm in a resort-like setting in this wonderful, newly-renovated downtown Louisville hotel. The Galt House offers what no other hotel can. The hotel features complimentary Wi-Fi in all guest rooms, restaurants and lobbies. Six restaurants and lounges offers a taste for everyone, a rooftop Fitness Center, Triple Crown Club and the hotel is close the main restaurants and bars of Louisville’s 4th Street Precinct. Tuesday 27th April Golfers: Golf at Valhalla Valhalla Golf Club, located approximately 20 miles east of Louisville, opened its doors in 1986. Named one of the top three new private golf courses in the U.S. in 1987, the first year it was eligible, Valhalla Golf Club remains the No. 1-ranked course in Kentucky and one of "America's 100 Greatest Courses", according to Golf Digest (2005). Valhalla hosted the 1986 and 2000 PGA Championships and the 2008 Ryder Cup. We can assure this will be one of the best golf courses you will ever play!! Non - Golfers: Historic Louisville Tour Enjoy the beauty, history and unique treasures of Louisville. You will visit The Ohio River, Portland Canal, Whiskey Row, Old Louisville and the Falls of the Ohio, The 3 hr tour also includes a visit to Churchill Downs Museum. 7.30pm A Welcome dinner and drinks are included in this tour package. Wednesday 28th April 2010 After breakfast check out of your hotel as today we do a full day tour and then move to the French Lick Resort for the remainder of our stay. Stables and Distillery Day Tour Central Kentucky is home to more than 450 working thoroughbred horse farms. These farms cover miles of beautiful rolling hills of the heart of our Bluegrass Region. This all day adventure will see us visiting private horse farms in the Lexington area, includes lunch and a historic Bourbon Distillery for a tour and sampling This is a seven to eight hour tour and lunch is included. After the tour you will be delivered to your hotel for the next four nights. The Kentucky Oaks was traditionally known as "Louisville's Day at the Races," but as the race for fillies becomes more prestigious, more and more celebrities are flocking the "Run for the Lilies." Many celebrities now make a weekend of their Derby experience attending both the Derby and oaks. Churchill Downs is about a 1 hr drive from the resort. You will be transferred to the track in time for the 1st race. You will have undercover seats in the Grandstand and access to a hospitality area near the horse paddocks. Saturday 1 May—Attend Derby Day at Churchill Downs Enjoy the beauty, history and excitement of "The Run of the Roses", at the famous Churchill Downs. Come and see the pageantry that makes this the most famous horse race in the United States. st You will be transferred to the track in time for the 1 race. You will have undercover seats in the Grandstand and access to a hospitality area near the horse paddocks. Sunday 2 May— Golf on the Pete Dye Course—French Lick Resort World-renowned golf course designer Pete Dye, often called the “Greatest Modern Day Architect,” sketched his early vision for a special sort of golf course in French Lick on a napkin at a local restaurant. His vision has now been realized in the hilltops near West Baden Springs Hotel and it is now one of the premier championship courses in the Midwest. Having built courses all over the world including great coastal sites, this course arguably could be considered Dye’s best inland site offering golfers 30-mile panoramic views of the countryside in all directions. Selected as the site for the 2010 PGA Professionals National Championship.
