President's Message
A Note From WB President Ruth Ehlinger
Happy New Year everyone! We are one month into the New Year and gearing up for the first Women’s
Board (WB) Meeting of 2012. I look forward to seeing you at the Sheraton New Orleans on Feb. 15 and 16
where we’ll kick off the meeting with a group breakfast the morning of the 15th. A very full agenda is on tap
– here’s a sneak peak….

Committee groups will be busy as they lay the groundwork for the year. Meeting attendees will have the
opportunity to decide on which committee they would like to participate, providing valuable input toward
committee objectives. The goals established during this meeting will set committee direction for 2012.

If you missed the Aftermarket Women’s Business Summit at AAPEX, this interactive segment of the
meeting will feature program highlights including sponsorship support, attendee participation and overall
event feedback. We’ll shift into high gear for some serious brainstorming to determine preliminary program
content and the format for the 2012 event. All thoughts, opinions and ideas will be welcome!

We have exciting speakers on tap like Tom Martin with Converse Digital. Converse Digital was established
to help companies understand how to monitor, create and engage in digital conversations to grow market
share and improve customer loyalty. Tom’s presentation will focus on “QR Codes: The Digital Bridge to
Increasing Sales” – you won’t want to miss it!

Networking will continue over dinner on Wednesday evening where we’ll enjoy good company and
southern hospitality at Olivier’s Restaurant. Family owned and operated, Olivier’s is an authentic French
Quarter Creole restaurant with dishes handed down through five generations.

The meeting will conclude on Thursday with a team-building event. The Consumer Education Committee
has done an awesome job of coordinating a car care event that will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The
event will include vendor booths, goodie bags and refreshments. Donations for goodie bags are requested
in quantities of 50 – contact Nancy Andersen at nancy.andersen@us.bosch.com for more details on goodie
bag donations. I’m sure you will agree that this event will provide a great opportunity to raise awareness
and visibility of the Women’s Board and its mission.
Shifting gears, I want to remind you that the deadline to submit WB scholarship applications is March 31,
2012. To apply, interested parties should go to www.automotivescholarships.com. If you know of someone
who is interested in pursuing a career in the automotive aftermarket, encourage them to go online and
apply today.

So you see we have a lot of exciting things happening at the Women’s Board – none of which could be
accomplished without you. Thank you for your support – we appreciate all that you do. I look forward to
seeing you in New Orleans!

Warm regards,

Ruth Ehlinger, AAA
President, Car Care Council Women’s Board
