                    HSBC Insurance to lead
Hong Kong’s largest charity Halloween parade
HSBC Insurance is organising Hong Kong’s largest ever charity Halloween parade to
raise money for the Hong Kong Cancer Fund (please see the attached fact sheet).

To be held on 25 October, the parade is expected to have more than 3,000 participants
and sponsors walking in costume from HSBC’s headquarters on Queen’s Road Central to
the Central Star Ferry Pier to spotlight the need and importance of cancer support in our
community.

David Fried, HSBC Group General Manager and Regional Head of Insurance Asia-
Pacific, said, “We expect to turn a lot of heads as thousands of people dressed in
Halloween costumes walk through the central business district. This is exactly the
reaction we are looking for to raise cancer awareness and emphasise the importance of
the Hong Kong Cancer Fund’s work in our community.”

This year, HSBC Insurance has tasked a team of 20 management trainees to raise funds to
support two new vital projects being undertaken by the Hong Kong Cancer Fund:

(a) Acupuncture Centre at Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin - This new facility will
provide acupuncture services to cancer patients in New Territories East, and is expected
to benefit some 500 cancer patients each month, helping to alleviate adverse side affects
and symptoms caused by cancer and cancer treatment.

(b) CancerLink Centre in Lai King, Kowloon West - This new facility will provide
services to cancer patients and their families living in New Territories West. Services
include a free hotline, professional counselling, and training for cancer survivors who
will serve as volunteers in assisting newly diagnosed patients.

Sally Lo, Cancer Fund Chairman, said: “HSBC Insurance is an incredible supporter of
the Cancer Fund and the local community. We’re delighted it is organising this fun event
to help raise funds for two vital services that will enhance our present cancer support
network. HSBC Insurance has done an outstanding job in helping to secure resources for
the many people living with cancer in desperate need of our free support.”
