Do you experience any difficulties with your relationships?
Does it take hours to fall asleep at night? Is your self-esteem decreasing?
It may be due to the hormone oxytocin not circulating and flowing freely
throughout your body. Oxytocin is a hormone that increases in response to
stress. Oxytocin is associated with good social skills such as empathy and
enjoying the company of others. It also creates a feeling of calm and closeness
and is being shown to trigger a wide variety of physical and psychological effects
in both women and men.
Scientific research has documented several benefits of oxytocin, the so-called “love
hormone.” Oxytocin eases stress, reinforces positive memories, boosts sexual arousal, improves social
skills, triggers protective instincts, induces sleep and enhances relationships.
Though scientists have long known about oxytocin's role in rearing children, we're learning more about it
now. UCLA life scientists have recognized a particular gene's link to three critical psychological resources:
optimism, self-esteem, and the belief that one has control over one's own life. For a few years Shelley E.
Taylor, a distinguished professor of psychology at UCLA and senior author of the new research, has been
looking for this gene, which she and her colleagues have identified as the oxytocin receptor gene.
Oxytocin’s influence on our behavior and physiology originates in the brain, where the hormone is produced
by the hypothalamus. It is then transferred to the pituitary gland, which releases into the bloodstream. Like
antennas picking up a signal, oxytocin receptors are found on cells throughout the body. Levels of
the hormone tend to be higher during both stressful and socially bonding experiences.
It is not always necessary to take medication to balance this hormone. It is feasible to balance oxytocin in
your body if there is no deficiency. The oxytocin treatment that takes approximately 15 minutes is a natural
and holistic healing process in which the body's self-healing mechanism actually balances itself. The patient is
asked to avoid alcohol for 24 hours after treatment, and to return for a follow-up visit to ensure that the
treatment is complete. Sometimes it requires treatment on both sides of the body, similar to right and left
brain cohesiveness, for the clearing to be successfully balanced.
At your next visit with Dr. Mike, ask to verify if your oxytocin is functioning

The Holidays are in full swing now. The decorations are up, the tree is trimmed and cards are being sent out.
This is really the time to spend with family and friends, reflect and share stories. And although this is meant
to be the most wonderful time of the year, realize that many people struggle this time of year too. There are so
many articles and blogs that concentrate on how to “cope” with the stresses of the holidays, but I would rather
give you ways to enjoy the holidays. Take time to think of all you have, be grateful and spread the cheer!
Shout for joy. Sing some fun carols.
Laugh (It is said that it is the best medicine!). Reminisce about some funny events that happened in your
life with others.
Eat Hearty. Hey, if there is any excuse to be a glutton this is it! Mmmmmm… dessert!
Enjoy today! Not everything has to be done right now.
Give Hugs. Lots of them. Receive hugs with acceptance.
Encourage someone. Tell them that you are on their side and that you will support them.
Plan some fun events. Speaking of next year’s plans, start planning some fun events with your family and friends to do next year.
Sit down and write. Tell someone how much they mean to you.
Stand up and go. Go help the less fortunate. Help feed the homeless or give a child a present who otherwise wouldn’t get one.
In all things, give thanks. Remind yourself that you are surrounded by good things. Tell your friends and family how much you appreciate
them and are thankful for them.

There is no doubt that autumn is here. Time for cooler days, crisp nights, the changing of the leaves... Oh, and the start of flu season.
What is the flu? It is a contagious respiratory disease caused by the influenza viruses. Most people who get the flu recover within a week or
two and do not require medical attention.
Flu-like symptoms include: fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people also may
experience vomiting and diarrhea. People may also have respiratory symptoms without a fever.
Here are a few tips that everyone should know to help slow the spread of the flu and stay healthy this flu season:
WASH YOUR HANDS FREQUENTLY WITH SOAP AND WATER.
Flu viruses are spread by droplets from infected people when they sneeze, blow their nose, or wipe away secretions from their
nose or eyes. Keep your hands away from your mouth and avoid rubbing your eyes. Be sure to wash your hands several times a
day especially before meals. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
According to the CDC, everyone 6 months of age or older should get a flu vaccine as soon as the current season’s (2011-2012)
vaccines are available.
EAT A HEALTHY DIET RICH IN VITAMINS C AND E.
These vitamins are believed to be helpful in supporting the immune system. Foods rich in Vitamin E include sunflower and corn
oils, sunflower seeds, and nuts such as almonds and peanuts. Vitamin C foods include: orange juice, citrus fruits, broccoli and
green peppers. Remember: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day – it helps keep you more alert and improves
concentration throughout the day. Proper nutrition can help fight against cold and flu viruses.
STAY AWAY FROM SUGAR.
Excessive sugar weakens the immune response.
Influenzinum 30c is a homeopathic Increasing water intake helps lessen the chance of getting the flu.

If you have extra fat and/or loose skin around the abdominal area, you may have considered plastic surgery a
solution for getting rid of it. Two popular procedures are liposuction and a tummy tuck. The end goal of both is
a slimmer waist line, but which one is right for you? Let’s compare and contrast the positive and negatives of
both liposuction and tummy tuck.
Deciding between liposuction and tummy tuck will come down to one main factor: the amount of loose skin
you have in your abdominal region. If you have had kids or went through dramatic weight loss, chances are
you will have a lot loose skin around your abdominal area. A tummy tuck will get rid of this loose, excess skin.
However, liposuction will only exacerbate the problem. When comparing a liposuction and a tummy tuck, it is
important to realize that liposuction is purely for fat loss – it does absolutely nothing to tighten loose skin;
rather it can actually make it worse.
With liposuction, fat is simply sucked out of the body, meaning there will be less volume underneath the skin.
This means that the skin will be looser than it was before because there is less fat underneath to stretch it out
– however, if only a moderate amount of fat needs to be removed (less than 25 pounds), you shouldn’t have
any worries regarding loose skin. But, if you require more than 25 pounds to be removed and may already have
loose abdominal skin from having kids (or for whatever reason), liposuction may not be the best option, as it
will do nothing to treat the loose, saggy skin. As stated before, a tummy tuck will remove both the excess fat
and excess skin, leaving you with a waistline that is both slim and tight and toned.
The bottom line when comparing a liposuction and a tummy tuck is that liposuction is a safer and cheaper, but
it will not give you the results you want if you have excess skin or require dramatic weight loss. If you do not
have loose skin and want to tone up around the mid section by losing no more than around 25 pounds of fat, go
with liposuction. If you have some saggy, loose skin, however, the only way to get rid of it is by a tummy tuck
procedure. However, it will cost more and there are more risks involved. The risks of a tummy tuck can be
significantly lowered if you thoroughly research a highly trained and professional plastic surgeon, who has
performed many tummy tucks and can provide a wealth of successful before and after photos like our surgeon,
Julian B. Gordon, M.D.. A properly researched plastic surgeon will be able to provide excellent results with a

As the weather becomes cooler, the days get shorter, and signs of
winter are in the air, complexions that were a bit darker with the
summer sun and longer daylight hours will begin to lighten.
This means a slightly fairer shade of foundation may be
appropriate for the winter months. If you are using Jane Iredale’s
foundation, no need to dispose of your summer time make-up,
simply put it away for the winter months and switch to a lighter
shade. As Jane Iredale is a mineral makeup containing no fillers,
it will not harbor any bacteria over the winter months and you can
resume it when summer rolls around again.

absorb even more moisture from the air. You can combat
lackluster skin by selecting a foundation recommended for drier
skin types depending on how winter affects your skin.
For instance if you normally use the Jane Iredale PurePressed
Powder, you may want to switch to the loose powder (Jane Iredale
Amazing Base) for winter as it is a little more hydrating. Jane
Iredale’s Dream Tint Moisturizer which is a tinted moisturizer or
the Liquid Minerals may be a good choice to winterize your skin.
You can also keep your PurePressed Powder and switch to a
creamy cleanser and richer moisturizer or a serum with hyaluronic
acid to combat the elements.
Winter months are a great time to go through a cycle of Retin-A to
turn over the cells for a more youthful skin. Just remember it is
still important to use a sunscreen in the winter months and always
use it when you are using Retin-A, no matter what season. It is
perhaps easier to use Retin-A in the winter months as the days are
shorter and your sun exposure is usually less than in the summer
Retin-A takes away the protective barrier as it accelerates
exfoliation of the skin cells, even though that protective barrier is
dead skin. If not protected you can actually cause more
hyperpigmentation, so sunscreen is important when using Retin-A.
Winter months are a great time to do deeper peels that need some
recovery time and address damage done in the summer months.
We winterize our homes, our cars, our wardrobes. Why not
winterize the skin we live in?

Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C is the first choice of people who really understand
bioavailability and the importance of high-dose vitamin C. Right out of the gate
all other forms of vitamin C rapidly crash into an absorption barrier that vastly
limits the level of vitamin C that can enter the bloodstream... and the vitamin C
that doesn't get absorbed, gets flushed. (Important note: all the vitamin C in
your food is just as restricted by this absorption barrier.)
In stark contrast, the "Smart" Lyposomal Nano-spheres® that encapsulate
Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C gently slip across the intestinal wall and into the blood.
That's because they are able to completely bypass a very restrictive nutrient
transport system that radically limits the bioavailability of all non-liposome
encapsulated forms of vitamin C. A recent clinical trial by world-renowned
vitamin C expert and pharmacologist, Steve Hickey, PhD, shows that
Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C is able to produce serum levels of vitamin C nearly
double those thought theoretically possible with any oral form of vitamin C. This
astounding level of bioavailability not only dramatically increases the amount of
vitamin C in the blood, but recent thermographic microscopy provides visible
evidence that it also aids its entry into individual cells. You can buy
