In an interview, Arlington, TN, mayor Mike Wissman talked about the city's economic outlook. He said that continuing residential and commercial growth and stabilizing existing industries to provide jobs and prevent layoffs or downsizing are the biggest challenges for Arlington in 2012. Their small-town atmosphere, hospitality, and friendly people are their most valued assets. Their schools, churches, parks, and improved infrastructure all improve the quality of life for their citizens. The outlook for Arlington next year would be continued slow but stable growth in residential developments and retail industries. Their number one economic growth goal is to make sure that their school system continues to provide a quality education for all of their children by monitoring the current school consolidation process and voicing their concerns where and when necessary to protect their children.
