Guidelines for presentation
• Each partner will need to present half of
the presentation
• Presentations will be 12 minutes long with
3 minutes of post questions
• A good rule of thumb is 1 minute per slide
(so you should have 12-16 slides)
• You will present as if no one else has seen
the project before
Slide Order
– Title slide(1)
– Background/introduction slides (1-4)
– Hypothesis (1)
– Objectives (1)
– Materials and Methods (1-4)
– Results (1-4)
– Conclusions (1-2)
– Acknowledgements (1)
The title of your project should
be interesting and descriptive

Introduction
• Also, use as many
pictures or diagrams as
possible to replace text
• Be sure to have some
labels on your pictures
• Answer:
– Why is this topic important
– What can be gained from
learning more about this
topic?

Hypothesis
• Null Hypothesis
– Steroids will have no effect on mouse
behavior and spatial memory
• Alternative hypothesis 1
– Steroids will have an effect on mouse
behavior and spatial memory
Objectives
• To determine if Testosterone and estrogen
given to either female and male mice will
improve water maze ability
• To determine if hormones will alter social
dominance
Materials and Methods
• Species (Purchased from (Charles River (mice)
or TTU-New Deal Farm), Sex, (n = (total
number)
• Treatments
– Describe each treatment including the controls
• A chart/diagram can be used
– Describe how each measure was obtained
– Ex. Blood was drawn by jugular cathetar
• Differentials, Cortisol, etc.. Were measured
Materials and Methods
• Include a timeline of events Behavior

Materials and Methods
• Pictures are worth a
thousand words
• Include how the data was
analyzed/calculated
Results
• List some major results
– Major results (interesting) should be put in a
diagram/chart
• Describe the results of each measure

Conclusions
• Take the result and form some kind of
conclusion
• The conclusions should either prove or
disprove the hypothesis
• Also include how the project could be
done differently or possible future projects
Acknowledgements
• Be sure to thank everyone who helped
with the experiment
• Be sure to thank your audience for
listening
