                                                   General Instructions
The purpose of the RACI Matrix is to document the responsibility of each role involved at each stage of the Project. It
is a Matrix that provides a list of activities about roles different people have in relation to those activities. For each
activity, different people are designated a letter in the acronym "RACI" The roles and names are along the top and
activities down the left side and in each of the table cells the appropriate RACI acronym letter that needs to be
selected from the drop down list. Assign the frequency and perferred method of communcation for each task in this
The RACI Matrix is typically used during the Planning stage and updated throughout the life of the project.



                                              RACI Matrix Instructions
Enter the Project ID# and the last updated Date.

Enter the names and roles of the of the individual in the column with <Insert Name> and <Insert Role> . Ensure that
both the role and the name are captured. Mandatory Roles are Sponsor, Project Manager & PMO.
If additional names and roles need to be included in the matrix, copy the last column and paste it on the adjacent
empty column. If more roles are needed than what has been provided in the worksheet, ensure that the entire
column is copied to capture all formulas.

Replace the <Insert > field with all the Activities associated with the respective stage of the project i.e. Initiation;
Planning; Execution and Shutdown To Insert more activities, highlight the rows, click on Insert Tab from the Menu
Tool bar, select Rows. Ensure that the newly inserted rows has all the drop-down validations.
Tips: Column B8 TO N8 - Insert Names. Column B8 to N9 - Insert Roles. Column B11 to N34 - Select from the drop
down list: R, A, C, I
Enter the Responsibility code for each Individual and role. Select from the drop-down list: R, A, C, I

Save the template as "<Project ID#>_RACI_Matrix"
Steps
Step 1: Click File and select "Save As".
Step 2: Select the location on your hard drive where you wish to store the file and save.
Step 3: In the "File name" box, enter the file name in this format "<Project ID#>_RACI_Matrix"
Step 4: In the "Save as type" box, click Microsoft office Excel Workbook.
Step 5: Save the file in the document Clarity section associated with your project.

                                                             Definition

             Responsible - Complete the work. There should be at least one R (otherwise the work is not
             performed) and there can be multiple Rs (team members)
             Accountable- Approves the completed work and is held fully accountable for it. There should
             be one and only one A.
             Consulted- Possesses the information and/or capability to complete the work. Two-way
             communication (typically between R and C). Optional.
             Informed - Informed of progress and results. One-way communication (typically from R to I).
             Optional.

             To Insert Rows, highlight the rows, Click on Insert Tab from the Menu Tool bar, select Rows.

             To Insert Columns, highlight the column, Click on Insert Tab from the Menu Tool bar, select Column.
