Shoulder Tattoo Designs Aren't Just For Men Anymore
                                                             By Lindsy Emery

Prior to fifteen years ago, shoulder tattoos for women weren't very popular. Back then if a woman
got a tattoo it was usually on the ankle, near the belly button, or on her wrist. The options for today's
woman are more open than they were twenty years ago. Women are now getting tattoos in places
they would have never dreamed of before, like on the back of their neck, lower back, or even their

Shoulder tattoos are getting more and more popular with today's women. There are a wide variety of
sexy tattoo designs for women to get on that especially beautiful part of the body these days, and
shoulder tattoos are very diverse. A shoulder tattoo can be in different areas of the shoulder and there
are a wide variety of shoulder tattoo designs that can work for any woman.

There are two areas on the shoulder a tattoo can be and still be classified as a shoulder tattoo: on the
back of the shoulder on or near the shoulder blade, and on the upper arm part of the shoulder. Getting
a tattoo on either part of the shoulder looks good, and they are both easily hidden in instances where
having a tattoo is not appropriate.

Men have traditionally had more aggressive tattoo designs on the shoulder area. Skulls, tigers, and
drags are popular tattoo designs for men's shoulders and upper arms. However, women's shoulder
tattoo designs are much less aggressive and more feminine and sexy. Shooting stars, dolphins, tribal
designs, and zodiac symbols are all very popular tattoo designs for a woman's shoulder. They all
project a different image, depending on the woman. For example, a Dolphin design give a sense of
playfulness and beauty, while a woman with her zodiac on display shows that she is proud of who she
is. Choosing which shoulder tattoo design is right yields a lot of choices.

Getting a shoulder tattoo is a little more bold than having one on the ankle or somewhere else. A
shoulder tattoo, even if it's very cute, shows that the woman with it has confidence in herself. With men
it's all about looking macho, but a woman having one is empowering and shows that she is not afraid
to be herself, even if it's a little out of the norm. Even when the shoulder tattoo is covered up, whether
for work or a social gathering, it is still on her body and the confidence having a shoulder tattoo is still
reflected in how she acts. When the shoulder tattoo design is on display, it looks beautiful. The
shoulder looks beautiful on its own, but a beautiful and well-placed ink can make it look that much

                                                          By Lindsy Emery

Women didn't venture into the world of shoulder tattoos until as recently as ten years ago. Before
women really began experimenting with different types of tattoos, they mostly stuck to the timeless
ankle and wrist tattoos, which are styles that never get old. The socially accepted options for women
seeking tattoos have expanded, and women are getting tattoos that they traditionally wouldn't have
even considered as viable.

The popularity of tattoos for women is on the rise, with lower back tattoos at the head, but shoulder
tattoos for women aren't following far behind. There are a wide variety of designs for women to get on
their shoulders, so much so that there is possibly a design for every type of personality out there.
There are also two types of shoulder tattoo, which really makes the possibilities for shoulder tattoos

Just like men, women can get shoulder tattoos on two specific areas: front of the shoulder, and on the
shoulder blade. The shoulder blade is much more popular for women, while getting one on the front of
the shoulder and down the arm is the preference of men. Both areas are easily hidden from sight if
need be, and a tattoo on the shoulder can do no wrong, only make it look even better.

Women usually choose more feminine and symbolic designs for shoulder tattoos than the ones men
usually get. Fairies, zodiac signs, butterflies, dolphins, and tribal signs are all popular shoulder tattoo
designs for women. When a woman gets a shoulder tattoo she takes consideration of placement and
style. Would a tribal sign look great on the front of the shoulder? Probably not unless it wrapped from
the front to the back. A zodiac sign probably won't look great on the front either, but a fairy probably

Like most of the tattoos that women get, shoulder tattoos are in an easily covered area. If she doesn't
want to show off the beautiful pair of dolphins she just got inked, she doesn't have to. If she doesn't
want the man she's dating to know she has a tattoo, she doesn't have to. The shoulder tattoo can be
an after effect of a woman's beauty if she wants it to be, though most women get shoulder tattoos to
show them off.

The shoulder and the nape of the neck are both very sensual spots on the body and get a lot of
unspoken attention from the opposite sex. A shoulder tattoo is a bold way for a woman to express
herself whenever she wants. With so many sizes and designs, there is not much of a reason for any
free-spirited woman not to get a beautiful of stylish design tattooed to her shoulder.
