About the tour:

A short drive from Cape Town takes us to this magnificent example of the truly unique Cape Dutch
style of architecture. There’s plenty to see in this richly restored thatched manor house-A priceless
collection of Cape antique pieces, old Dutch paintings, Delft and Chinese porcelain. Groot Constantia
dates back to1685 and was one of first buildings to be proclaimed a national monument. This estate is
South Africa oldest and on your cellar tour you will sample some of it’s outstanding wines incl. the
Napoleon, internationally acclaimed Governeur's Reserve [a Bordeaux style blend].

A short drive takes us to the world famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, situated on the eastern
slopes of Table Mountain. The upper region is a magnificent wild reserve of evergreen forests. While
the lower portion is planted with well over 4,000 species of indigenous flora from all over the country
including a splendid collection of cycads grouped in an amphitheatre; and a Protea garden with
hundreds of specimens can be seen.

The botanical Society of South Africa has its head office in the Gardens, which also contain the
Compton Herbarium with over 200,000 species. The conservatory is worth a visit in itself. We’ll stay
there just as long as you want-there are scores of wonderful places to picnic and the restaurant is
excellent, with stunning views of Table Mountain.

From Kirstenbosch we drive through the exclusive suburb of Bishopscourt over Constantia Nek [Pass]
into the Hout Bay valley and its interesting fishing harbour. The magnificent bay is ‘guarded’ by the
distinctive Sentinel Peak. We will view the wonderful harbour from Chapman’s Peak Drive; a stunning
feat of engineering which winds across the face of the mountain with stunning views of cliffs,
mountains and the bay below. We’ll visit the harbour and take a one-hour trip in the bay to Seal
Island, home to over 3000 Cape Brown Seals and on to visit a recent shipwreck. We continue along
the Atlantic Coast passing through trendy Camps Bay and Clifton and their internationally acclaimed

                                 THE CAPE WINELANDS
                                    “Grape Expectations!”

Duration: Full Day - approx 50 miles 100miles

About the tour:

Visiting the Cape Winelands is like entering a sensory Utopia-a magical zone where everything looks
good, smells good and sounds good-too good to be true? I’ll wait for your opinion after your trip.

The Stellenbosch, Paarl and Fransch Hoek valleys are dramatic arenas of mountain and farmland in
which the hard, wild geology of the surrounding peaks strikes a contrast with the soft multi-hued patch
work of the vineyards and pastures below. Scattered thru the green valleys are elegant white washed
farmhouses in the Cape Dutch style unique to the Western Cape. In these vineyards, some of the
finest wines on earth can be sniffed, sipped and savoured. Other crucial elements in the Wine lands
experience are sweet, clean air: delicious food and an atmosphere of sun drenched peace. There’s
real pleasure to be had here- a place where mind’s truly blossom in tranquillity.!!

South Africa’s second oldest major settlement. This university town’s stately tree-lined streets and
many of its stately homes date back to the 1680’s and contain innumerable national monuments.
Stellenbosch is home to students, oak trees, wine, academics and wine!! It’s a peaceful but urbane
place and the undisputed heartbeat of the Winelands, with the original and most diverse wine route-
nearly ninety estates!
There’s an excellent selection of restaurants in town ranging from continental, traditional Cape
Cuisine, to Italian, Oriental and excellent North Indian fare!

Three things make Fransch Hoek tick-food, scenery and wine. The last has
been the valley’s lifeblood for centuries and owes it’s origins to French Huguenot refugee settlers and
its 17 century Gaelic heritage.
In recent years this dozy town has become home to many of the Cape’s and indeed South Africa’s
finest restaurants and has some quaint shops and art galleries.
Lying at the head of a deep well watered valley, Francshhoek is blessed with outrageous mountain
views on three sides. We’ll treat ourselves to a sumptuous meal, a rustic stroll and a bout of premium
wine tasting. We’ll be exploring exclusive off the beaten track estates –if you can keep a secret!

About Mick Hedderman & Cracking Cape Town Tours

Born in the UK but ‘half Irish’ I qualified as a Geography teacher at one of London
University Institute of Education’s premier Colleges of Education. The irresistible urge
to travel led me to give up my burgeoning teaching career, pack a rucksack and set
off to discover the world. I decided to hitch hike to Cape Town; which transpired to be
an incredible 6 month journey of over 25,000km.

I stayed in Cape Town for a year and fell totally in love with her. But I had to forsake
her for a while and travel on; backpacking through virtually all South America, Central
and North America-all this before the days of Lonely Planet books and Internet

It was a truly amazing but humbling experience. I saw some incredible landscapes,
starscapes and seascapes. However, the enduring memories are of the amazing
variety of people I met of all ages, cultures and faiths. I returned to my first love-truly
The Tavern of the Seas.

I started Cracking Cape Town Tours 6 years ago; typically private tours for clients of
all ages from all over the world.

Come touring with me in the comfort and luxury of my Mercedes Benz 124 series
200e ,with leather seats, air - conditioning.

Costs obviously vary depending on the number of passengers and the various
entrance fees involved.

I pride myself on giving outstanding value for money and tours, which are personal,
fun, relaxing , informative and different:!

              In short…YOU-nique!…Let’s get cracking
