Set a Fundraising Goal!
Most people work harder when they have a specific goal to meet. Pledges are a major
source of funding for Jell-O Wrestling. See the “Tips on Raising Pledges” sheet in this
package for more suggestions.
Create a Team Theme!
Be creative and pick a theme like Super Women & Cat Women, Little Bo Peep & Her Sheep,
Hugh Hefner & His Bunny, and Will & Grace. Create costumes to wear at the event and let
everyone know who you are.
Tell us how you’re doing!
Don’t forget to tell us good news, fundraising goals met and exceeded…and more! Send
information about your fundraising efforts to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Wrestle in honor of someone!
Wrestle in honor of someone who has lost their battle with HIV/AIDS, or in celebration of
someone whose life is affected by the epidemic.
fIVE Steps to $500:
1. Donate $25 to yourself.
2. Ask 10 friends or family to donate $20 each.
3. Ask 5 coworkers or coworshipers to donate $10 each; hit your boss up for $50!
4. Take a walk around your neighborhood. Ask 5 Neighbors to donate $10 each.
5. Go to 5 businesses you frequent, and ask for $25.
Be creative! These are just some of the ways you can reach your goals!
DO’s and DON’Ts of Fundraising
Tell people what you are doing! Let people know that you are fundraising to Jell-O
Wrestle. Let them know that the Jell-O Wrestling event benefits the Southern Arizona AIDS
Be Passionate (and Shameless)! Nobody will give you money if you are not absolutely
passionate about your cause. You must be willing to talk to anybody and everybody about
your cause, and not be afraid to suggest how they can help. Once they see the look in your
eye, they will be moved enough to donate.
Don’t Be Afraid to Ask! One of the big mistakes we initially make in fundraising is that we
create quite a buzz among our friends, but we don’t come right out and ask for money. We
simply expect people to hand over the cash- And in some cases they do. But eventually we
realized we have to be shameless and simply ask.
Don’t Stop at $200! Ask until you’re orange in the face! The top fundraising Wrestler wins

Information on SAAF, THE
Ten years ago three of the initial Tucson grassroots HIV organizations PACT, Shanti, and
TAP merged under the name Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation (SAAF) creating one of the
largest nonprofit consolidations in the history of Pima County. SAAF provides direct
services and programs in confidential, supportive environments that enhance the quality of
life for those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS, prevention efforts against sexually
transmitted infection, and empowering people to lead healthy, productive lives.
At the heart of our mission is the conviction that people living with HIV/AIDS have the right
to determine what services they require. In 2000, Arizona Department of Health Services
named SAAF the state’s AIDS Service Organization of the Year.
SAAF continues to be the only community-based organization in Southern Arizona
providing case management and ancillary support services for people living with HIV/AIDS
and their families, culturally appropriate prevention and education programs to reduce the
rate of infection, and extensive trainings and opportunities for community members to fill
critical support roles.
