The M.A. in European Studies Program at Sabancı University

FACULTY Hülya Adak Literary Theory, Nationalism, Gender and Sexuality, Theories of Autobiography AWARDS, PROJECTS and PUBLICATIONS Jean Monnet Projects The European Studies Master’s Program is one of the few European studies programs where there are four ongoing Jean Monnet course modules and two Jean Monnet chairs. The program’s inclusion into the European Commission’s Jean Monnet project through these grants is a further illustration of its competitive strength internationally. EU 6th Framework Project Governance of European-Mediterranean Relationship (GoEuro MED) Bahri Yılmaz The M.A. in European Studies Program at Sabancı University is a highly competitive program with the ultimate aim of studying contemporary Europe, with a special emphasis on the European Union. The careers of the alumni of the European Studies Program demonstrate that the program furnishes students with a comparative advantage that enables them to pursue their career goals at the national, European and the international level. The students receive an interdisplinary training in the program with economics, history, legal studies and politics of European integration constituting the main pillars of study. Fikret Adanır Southeast European History, Ottoman and Turkish History İzak Atiyas Political Economy, Corporate Finance and Financial Economics, Industrial Organization Halil Berktay 20th Century Turkish Nationalism and Its Historiography Ali Çarkoğlu International Political Economy, Public Choice Theory and Voting, Research Methodology and Statistics Visits Program-organized and sponsored visits constitute an important aspect of the academic training. These include a research visit to EU institutions where all students receive an on-site training in Brussels through series of appointments in the Commission, the European Parliament and the Council and a joint training session held in 2008 together with the University of Darmstadt. Erasmus The Erasmus exchange agreements within the auspices of the program provide an important opportunity for students to spend one semester in various EU universities and create international environment at Sabancı University.
