          IV dose with H-methyl thymidine, 0.25 mL/animal
        b
Harvest draining lymph nodes 5 hours postdose

EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN:
The test article will be topically applied to the dorsal surface of both ears on Days 1-3. The Positive
Control Group will be treated in the same manner as the test group but will receive Hexylcinnamic
Aldehyde (HCA, a known mild to moderate sensitizer).
On Day 6 the animals will receive an IV dose of 3H-methyl thymidine. The lymph nodes will be
harvested, processed and counted. The mean dpm for each group will be calculated, and dividing the
mean dpm for the treated group by the mean dpm for the vehicle group will derive the Sensitization Index
(SI).
An SI equal to or greater than 3.0 will identify a test article as a potential sensitizer.
OBSERVATIONS: Twice daily (mortality/moribundity)
DERMAL SCORING: Daily
BODY WEIGHTS: Days 1 and 6
NECROPSY: Lymph nodes will be harvested and processed.
STUDY PRICE: $ (excluding analytical)
IRRITATION SCREEN: $ additional
