BEGINNING ON TUESDAY'S IN OCTOBER Parenting Families from Me to We - taught by Pastor Troy Countryman - 6 DVD based sessions are not your typical class or seminar, Parenting Families: From Me to We is an experience that can make an immediate difference in your life as parent. No guilt, no talking heads, just real people and ideas that work. Laugh along with the confessions of a real dad, learn ideas from experts, talk to fellow parents, and take hope knowing that no matter how much stress you have, no matter what happened yesterday, you are more ready than you realize to help your family be the "we" you dreamed. Singing the Faith, Living the Lutheran Musical Heritage - taught by Pastor Del Nack - a 4 week study of the history of Lutheran congregational song. We Are Lutheran - taught by Pastor Bruce D. Osborne - will discuss the differences between Lutheran's and many other Christian Church Bodies - join us for some lively discussion and informative biblical topics. This class will also serve as our next "Adult Discipleship Class" for those interested in becoming part of our St. John's Lutheran family. For more information on these classes, please call the church office. This Just In... Carole Wilson has just agreed to do the meals for our Tuesday Evening Bible Studies beginning in October. Dinner will be served from 5:00 - 6:00 pm and Bible Study will follow from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. The Friendship Guild is hoping to start a Bible marking project. If you have a Bible you would like to donate, please leave it in the box by the activity center door. These don’t have to be in great shape, any used Bible will be appreciated. We hope to put them in the hands of people that have not had the opportunity to study a Bible. The Friendship Guild has a member crocheting lap robes for our Shut-ins and nursing home residents. Any donations of yarn in any color or amounts are greatly appreciated and needed. Please drop it off in the baskets located near the activity center doors. August 14-23 Lutheran Hour Ministries will have a booth at the Illinois State Fair for the fifteenth year, open from 9:00 am – 9:00 pm. On Sunday August 16 & 23 there will be a Lutheran worship service led by a Pastor of LCMS at 9:00 am in the IL. Building Auditorium. Please join us and share this information with your friends visiting the fair. Attention All Ladies - SAVE the DATE: November 6, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Fall Women’s Retreat.
