OACAS Manager of Agency Based Training Supports
The Manager of Agency Based Training Supports manages the field-based support services
provided by Education Services staff to CASs across Ontario.
Principal Responsibilities/Reporting Relationship
Reporting to the Director of Education Services, this position is responsible for the supervision
of the OACAS Field Training Specialists, who operate regionally from home offices in the five
training regions across Ontario. Each specialist is assigned to support approximately 10 – 12
Children’s Aid Societies. Other duties include:
Managing the implementation of the ‘Foundations of Child Welfare Practice’ competency
assessment program in CASs in consultation with other Education Services department
managers and agency representatives.
Managing the Education Services field support to regional and provincial CAS network groups
that address training and development issues.
Developing detailed work plans and budgets on assigned responsibilities for approval; reports
on progress to management team and CAS network groups as required, and prepares summary
reports on projects for inclusion in quarterly reports to MCYS.
Delivery of OACAS training of the management series.
Coordination of projects with other Education Services managers.
Representing OACAS in a variety of regional and/or provincial consultation projects.
Note: This position works primarily from our 75 Front Street location.
Graduate degree (minimum) or post graduate degree in Social Work, Adult Education or
Child welfare experience at a management level
Understanding of diversity issues affecting child welfare service delivery and the role that
education services can play in addressing them
Demonstrated skills in leading and supervising staff
Advanced level experience in training, facilitation and/or teaching adults – and in training
others to train/facilitate at an advanced level
Excellent project management skills
Experience in regional and/or provincial child welfare or related sector committees,
advisory groups or project teams
Demonstrated program planning and evaluation knowledge and skills
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Experience with Microsoft Office 2007- Word, Power Point, and Excel
Bilingual (English/French) an asset
