San Marino Meadows Newsletter
As you are likely aware, the township lost its battle with ITC, and the transmission lines are
now being installed along M-59. Despite 18 months of effort by several Meadows residents, we
were unable to succeed in having the lines buried or relocated along a less residential route. We
are now taking steps to beautify our property in an effort to shore up our property values.
We had been waiting to proceed with entryway landscaping projects until we knew how those
lines and the proposed expansion of M-59 would affect our property. We have now negotiated an
easement with ITC across a narrow piece of property owned by Meadows for $50,000. The terms
of the easement were non-negotiable, as the Michigan Public Service Commission had already
approved the lines across our property. However, we were able to negotiate a comparatively
generous price for the easement. These proceeds are being reinvested back into the neighborhood
in various ways.
