    Project Goal

    The polymer heel-strike generator project has three major goals: (1)
    investigate and evaluate the use of electroactive polymers as generator
    materials, (2) develop a heel-strike generator based on electroactive
    polymers with performance of 1-2.5 J/step as a way to reduce the
    battery-weight burden on foot soldiers, and (3) investigate and identify
    other energy harvesting applications of DoD interest using the
    electroactive polymers in the generator mode.
