Bruce Broberg, P.E. Vice President, Houston Operations URS Corporation 9801 Westheimer, Suite 500 Resume for Directorship position with the North Houston Association. Business Leadership: Bruce Broberg has been the manager of URS Corporation Houston Operations since 1997. When he took on the role of the Houston Office URS was an office of 40 individuals that focused their efforts on doing environmental business for industrial clients in the Houston area. Under his leadership Houston operations have grown to over 360 people in five offices in the Greater Houston-Galveston area and has been rated the number two civil design firm in Houston by the Houston Business Journal. We anticipate, with the acquisition of the Washington Group (pending government approval), that URS will be the number one Civil Design Firm in Houston in 2008. URS provides engineering and environmental services including most all of the local public agencies including Harris County, METRO, the Port of Houston, the City of Houston, the State of Texas and the majority of the Fortune 50 energy corporations residing in the Houston Region. Services provided include public infrastructure planning and engineering design, large facility architecture and engineering design, process industry engineering design, pipeline engineering design, dismantling and demolition, and environmental engineering. Previous to growing the Houston Office, Mr. Broberg was start up manager of URS’Baton Rouge operations, growing it from 1 employee to 80 employees under his tenure. Since attaining critical mass, the Baton Rouge office has grown to more than 450 employees. From a personal and professional level, Mr. Broberg is a recognized expert in Texas and Houston Air Quality issues. Mr. Broberg started his career working for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) in 1980, in the Air Quality Division. Since that time, Mr. Broberg has been working with numerous stakeholders to help evaluate and solve Houston ozone issues. Currently the Houston office operates the Houston Regional Monitoring (HRM) air quality network that is an integral part of analyzing, characterizing and developing air quality attainment plans. Mr. Broberg is also currently the Principal for the Environmental Impact Statements for two for the of METRO Solution’s rapid transit lines (East End Corridor and Uptown Corridor). These EIAs are being prepared such that METRO can be compliant with the Federal Transit Authority (FTA) requirements should METRO be successful in obtaining federal money for these transit lines. Recently, Mr. Broberg was the Principal for the I-10/Beltway 8 West interchange design. URS performed the design of the interchange that is currently under construction. URS was chosen for this section of the Katy Freeway improvements due to our “exotic bridge” experience which includes the Fred Hartman Bridge in East Harris County. In May 2007, URS was selected and is currently negotiating the design the Highway 290/ 610 West interchange with TXDOT. Economic Development: Under Mr. Broberg, URS Houston Operations has a firm commitment to foster sound economic development in the Houston Regional Area. As part of that commitment, URS is a member of a select number of outstanding Economic Development Associations including the North Houston Association. URS recognizes the importance and professionalism of the leadership and many contributions of the North Houston Association to the betterment of the vital North Houston Area to the local and regional economy. URS has been a proud corporate member of the North Houston Association for well over a decade and as office manager Mr. Broberg regularly attends most NHA general meetings and encourages participation by his staff. URS has been a corporate sponsor event/table sponsor of most NHA breakfast, luncheon and dinner events. URS annually sponsors a team at the NHA Golf Tournament and has participated in other special NHA activities over time as requested or needed.. URS is very proud and supportive of the mission of the NHA and its commitment to the betterment of the infrastructure and economy of North Houston through communication and political action and promotions. URS also participates in a number of other Associations including the Brazoria County Economic Development Alliance. Here, Mr. Broberg has served on various positions including the Alliance Board of Directors, the Chairman of the Business Recruiting and Retention Committee, and other positions as needed and would like to bring this experience to the Board of the North Houston Association. Additionally, URS is a corporate member of the Greater Houston Partnership and the Houston Economic Alliance, Port Region and the Bay Area Transportation Partnership and the Society of American Military Engineers. URS believes that supporting economic development of the Greater Houston Area will bring prosperity to all. Mr. Broberg has been a member of the Houston Petroleum Club since 2003.
