Battles and Events of the American Revolution: Analyzing Primary Documents
Timeline Assignment
• Now that you have viewed and analyzed a number of battle maps and analyzed various
images and documents relating to battles from the American Revolution,
– create a timeline of the battles that puts them in chronological order
• list the date of the battle/event and the name of the battle/event
– give a brief explanation of the battle based on the information that you gathered
from the primary sources
– include a visual to represent each battle
– include a title for your timeline
• Your timeline can be hand-drawn or computer generated.
– If you choose to hand-draw your timeline, be sure it is neat and legible. You need
to use construction paper or large white paper (legal size or bigger).
– If you choose a computer generated versions, you can use Excel
(http://www.microsoft.com/education/createtimeline.mspx) or Word
(http://www.microsoft.com/education/timelinesword.mspx). Click on the program
for directions and examples in each format.
• Your timeline will be graded based on a rubric.
