**United Negro College Fund/ Rosa Blackwell Scholarship
This scholarship is named after retiring Superintendent Rosa Blackwell. This scholarship
will be granted to 3 Cincinnati Public high school seniors. Students must have a 2.5GPA
and will attend a 2 or 4 year college in Ohio. Scholarship value is $5,000. Applications

** Joyce Ann Sherrod Foundation Scholarship 2009
The family of Mrs. Sherrod will award 4 scholarships to deserving students entering the
field of the Arts this fall. Students must have a 2.5 GPA and complete a 400 word essay.
Winners must attend the May 9, 2009 fundraiser at the YMCA on Linn.

**Evanston Community Scholarship
Applicants must be a resident of the Evanston community, a good citizen and have an
overall 2.7 GPA. Winners must agree to complete 10 hours of community service in
Evanston prior to enrollment in college. Interview required.

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center
CCHMC has a summer internship program for science students interested in pursuing a
medical career. 16 positions are available. This is for current high school students only.
The program is from June 15-August 6. Interns will work 20 hours a week.

**PFLAG Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays
Scholarships are being offered by the Cincinnati Chapter of PFLAG. Students must be a
resident of Cincinnati or attending a Greater Cincinnati college and have a proven
positive record of involvement with this organization and in the community.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority
Three $300.00 scholarships will be awarded at the Youth Symposium event to be held on
Saturday, April 25, 2009 from 11am- 4pm at the LeBlond Boys and Girls Club. Students
must have a 2.75 GPA, 1 letter of recommendation, community service involvement and
a college acceptance letter.

Cincinnati Scholarship Foundation
The Cincinnati Scholarship Foundation administers approximately 80 different
scholarship funds. Most the CSF scholarships are need-based, and most scholarships are
renewable. Many of the scholarships have a variety of criteria – minimum GPA
requirements, majors, colleges attended and extracurricular activities. You need to only
complete one application to be considered for all scholarships. Since most of the
scholarships are need-based students will also need to complete Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Tours/ Open Houses/ Other Information
**American Red Cross
2009 Leadership Development Conference for students in grades 8-12. The conference is
a 4 day/ 3 night camp held at Thomas Moore College, July 16th- July 19th. At the camp
students attend workshops on leadership, public speaking ethics and service. A chance to
earn First Aid or CPR certification through Red Cross is also available. Cost is $180.00;
financial assistance is available for students in need. See Mrs. Wheeler for applications.

Art Works will hire students ages 14-19. This is a six week job program and if hired,
teens earn minimum wage of $7.30 per hour. You may contact Art Works for more

**Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden
There are Spring and Summer employment openings for students 16 years of age and up.
Students who are 16 and 17 can apply only to work in the Gift Shop or Food Service
departments. Students who are 18 years old and up may apply to work in Admissions,
Parking, Buildings, Grounds and Rides. Applications are online at
